SJA had good wins against SSA and Mt Carmel. Lost to foutainbleu 1-0 and played them less than 24 hours after the SSA game. SSA hadn't lost a game in 2 years until we beat them in the Northshore tourney. Lost to Byrd as well early, but heck, if all of HS soccer could start practicing in August, we'd have all the chemistry and kinks worked out by October too. If the fine for that is only $1,000, perhaps we should all pass the hat next year.
Redistricting in the BR area this year helped several schools this year and they ended up with higher seeds and an easier road to the semis. If EA gets past MCA and Barbe has a few more games like Saturday, they'll be tough to beat.

52 is a solid player. But if I had a nickel for every jersey pull, I could have got a Ruth Chris fillet instead of chickfillet on the way back home. Little things win every ballgame, and Barbe did em or got away with em. "Where there is no law, there is no transgression". Hat's off to them. I do hope Mark Twain sticks to his pen and paper for the rest of the season, for everyone's sake. Sore loser Sent from my SM-P600 using proboards

By the way, my understanding is that Byrd paid that fine in bitcoin.

Jersey pulling, grabbing, bumping is all part of the game. If it isn't called it isn't a foul and a good coach should teach their players to find the line for each ref. And if an opponent can't take it, gets frustrated and distracts them out of their game - even better. Watch a European game or a USWNT game. The stuff I see in high school is usually nothing. I've seen previous Barbe teams that weren't very skilled and they were just plain clumsy and dangerous. This Barbe team is skilled at every position, so their physicality is not clumsy or dangerous (except on the scoreboard). I think it caught Mandy and SJA by surprise. Certainly did me.

You don't even know the rule that was allegedly violated! The rule was that some sports groups were signed up for 2 PE's after coming off the block schedule from the year before! However, not one Byrd Girls Varsity soccer player was this applicable! Now posting things you obviously don't even know about, and making excuses of why you lost to Byrd 2 months ago or why Barbe whipped you may make you feel better..it still don't change the fact that you have no more HS soccer to watch this year! I don't understand why people can't just pump their own team up or be positive or informative on here. Why people have to hide behind their screen names and spout off crap about other teams or players is beyond me! Get a life!

CEBfan. Surely you meant SJA and not SSA. SSA parents don't rattle off excuses when they lose. Good luck tomorrow. [br Lol... Yes my apologies.. SJA

Messy,
SSA lost last year to Dominican as well as the year before to someone else, so we've definitely haven't been unbeaten in two years until the SJA loss this year. In fact SSA has never had an undefeated season. Congrats on the win earlier in the year, however we have certainly lost our share over the past few years. SJA is a quality side and one we respect very much.

And one more thing to add. Barbe was able to start a Soccer PE this year for the first time and are having the best season in almost 8 years. Coincidence??? I think not. Maybe next year you should do like Byrd and have 2 Soccer PEs. Worked for them. Not factual! Put your name on it Lenga! You going to comment on something and throw out posts that aren't true, at least have the decency to sign your real name to it! My daughter is a Junior at Byrd and is on the Varsity soccer team, FACT-she does not and has not had 2 PE's this entire school year! Why you feel the need to comment on something when you don't know the facts!! Just one word comes to mind......ignorant!

Not taking any sides on this, but I wonder how some posts would change if we had to put our name on them all. Nothing more annoying when someone creates a new username to post something offensive. And yes we all know when that happens.
I am a Parkway parent. Everyone in NWLA on here knows who I am as well as the many people I have exchanged messages with. I would never post something on here that I was not willing to put my name too. I have to much respect for our school and our coach for that.
I think if we all used that as a measuring stick for posting, there would be a better forum. Thoughts?

Using my real name kept me from saying unnecessary things. Felt like it served me well. Then when my son became more known, I had 2 of us for whom to guard reputations. 2 thumbs up from me (Paul) as I close in on 4,000 posts.

Would we have even heard about jersey pulling if the Barbe lost? Ofcourse not. We (Mandeville) played Barbe Monday and I didn't see any grabbing. They are aggressive and go to the ball hard. Anything can happen on any given day. Let's try and not call out these ladies who work hard all season and play hard every game. Good luck to the teams still alive!

I'll just be happy if the girls would stop apologizing when they run in to each other...then, I'll know we've finally arrived in competitive soccer...but the "sorry, sorry, sorry" for every nigling touch or bump is frustrating...

I have no problem adding my name at the bottom of my posts. I have never posted anything on here that I would hide behind a user name for others not to see who I am.

First they'll have to overcome the urge to comment on how pretty they think an opponent's hair is! I've had more than one coach tell me they've overheard their players say this during a game.

I agree! I'm tired of hearing my players apologize on the field. I make my players do push ups or run when they say sorry!! Drives me crazy!

Wow. And to think my little thread took on a life of its own. Actually, multiple lives. More like an army of lives. In any event, since I began this thread I will end it. Congrats Barbe on a fantastic effort. Good luck in the semis. 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... Whew! Glad that's over.

You haven't heard interesting until you have a daughter play on a boy's team. No one ever made any really vulgar comments except for one 7th grader whose parent fussed at my daughter for being too rough with him. She got asked for her number and told she smelled good in the middle of a game.
