I'm following Alan deritter on twitter. 0-0 25 left in first. From tweets seems like Newman dominating.

Goal Newman 1-0. Says country day thought offsides and Newman was 4 vs keeper.

1-0 Newman. Scored with 5 left in half. About 3.5 mins left in half now.

What happened? I was only half-paying attention to the livestream. Looked very weird.

What happened? I was only half-paying attention to the livestream. Looked very weird. I had bad angle. But it was free kick from 30 or so (out wide). cD has been playing a trap. Looked like they tried to trap on free kick and no one followed runs so when ball came in to top of box, Newman #9 controlled it and took her time passing it in the corner. Both keepers had good 1v1 saves.

Ok. Thanks.
That's what I figured happened. I look up and just see 5 Newman players sprinting unopposed with the ball straight at the CD goal. Very odd.

Soccerdad, you are the man! Great highlights. On the first goal I'm still not convinced offsides should have been called. I will have to watch your video again.

After watching the video it looks like the Newman player who gets the ball and scores the goal was, in fact, onside at the moment when the ball was kicked. If you follow the football yard lines across the field there are players keeping her onside. The other players may have been in an offside position (it's almost impossible to tell because they are out of frame) but that shouldn't matter since none of them ever became involved in the play. Looks like a very good call made by the AR in a tough situation.

I believe the player who played the ball is 3rd from the right. Sorry camera didn't catch the ball. Lines on the field make this easy. 2 players in the offside position never got involved. Attachment Deleted

View AttachmentI don't mean to offend, but if the camera didn't catch the ball, how can you be sure? Are you telling us the ball was struck at the precise moment this shot was taken? To my poor eyes, neither the video nor this still shot offer compelling evidence for OR against an offsides call. I wish I could have seen it in person, but alas, the team I root for was in that same difficult bracket that Newman came through. 😢

To me it was hard to tell. If I had to make a call, I would say not offsides after viewing several times. It looked like the blue moved up just after the ball was kicked so she was onside when it was kicked.
If I was a ref and didn't have the ability to watch video, I don't know what I would have called. I'm still not completely sure.
