Legna -- STM is graduating two starters, and 4 total. Yes, One of those graduating is the keeper. She leaves big gloves to fill *, but we will be fine. Also, I don't feel too sorry for Lakeshore. With Mandeville Soccer Club feeding them, I'm sure they will find ample replacements for those 8 seniors. * I'm not just saying that because she is my daughter

My comment about Mandeville Soccer Club feeding Lakeshore was meant as a compliment, not a dig. As for Rage and Dynamos feeding STM,

Congrats to the nicest coach in the state of Louisiana! If only all coaches could be like Wes. Well deserved Wes Leake should be the 2017 Coach of the Year. This senior class learned his system, learned from their upper classmates and continued to progress to the next step each season (2014 Qtrs, 2015 Semis, 2016 Finals, 2017 Champions). He schedules games against the best teams in the state not just teams that will help with PR statistics, going 20-2-4 in the process. Wes is not only an outstanding coach, he is a solid, genuine person. Wes has restored my faith in soccer coaches the past couple of years, after some disappointing experiences outside of high school soccer. Congrats again to the Lady Titans. You didn't see any personal, individual agenda's getting in the way of overall high school soccer goals with this team. Team chemistry is a key ingredient to any championship run and these girls put the team first and played for each other, focused on one goal. No Drama, No Egos, more of a sisterhood than a team. Not bad for a public school from a city with roughly 10K residents. Spot on comments. I've followed Lakeshore girls soccer very closely starting with the second season, back in 2011-2012 as a player parent, and now the last 2 years as an "alum parent". All of these teams were extremely talented. This team had a phenomenal chemistry I believe, as Fifty-Fifty mentioned, that none of the other teams quite had. This team had it's "stars" like others in the past, but EVERY player put the teams press clippings above their own, so to speak. Singularity of purpose was key. And, even seniors who did not start, didn't grumble; when it was their turn to step on the field, they brought a smile, passion, and energy to the game, and took that back with them when they went off the field. These players are probably the unsung heroes of this year's team.
