i think magnet will pull this one off. unless shreve's defense is able to stop magnet's attackers, magnet should win.

If Shreve's backline plays as well as they have the rest of the year, stopping Magnet shouldn't be a problem. Shreve's main concern will be putting the ball in the net themselves, as Magnet has a good defense as well. I would be very surprised if either team scores more than 2 goals. With the exception of the Jesuit match, nobody has scored more than 1 off Shreve this year and that includes teams better than Magnet. I see Shreve's midfielders giving their forwards more opportunities than Magnets. The key will be as always, finishing those chances. Should be two good, close matches. Shame we can't have 1 like this every week like District 3 does.

i predict shreve over magnet 3-0 cuz they got the best keeper in the state and i think one of the most explosive offenses when the are on their game. And their defense is solid.

Gators over Mustangs 1-0. To score Magnet will have to press and send numbers forward, leaving the counter open. Shreve's midfield will control their third, the Shreve defense will allow no shots in the box. and Wimer will top the long shots.

Had to bring this back to the front since the game is Tuesday. And for any down south people posting on this thread, don't say Shreve 3-0 because of the LAPREP rankings. Here's how it was last year and the teams honestly havent really changed except for losing seniors, but the teams are still as strong.
Magnet VS. Shreve first district game last year : Shreve converted off of a corner kick in the first half and then Magnet converted off a cross about 10 minutes after that making it 1-1 at the end of the first half and it remained scoreless until PKs. Shreve one 3-1 in PKs, if I'm not mistaken.
Magnet VS. Shreve second district game : Magnet ended up winning 1-0, which was a pretty evenly matched game... both teams had about 10 opportunities to score. And so it was tied and we had PKs to see who would get first seeding and Shreve won that yet again, I'm thinking, 4-3.
Of coarse we have this year with Shreve beating St. Thomas More, Comuaex, Lafayette JV, and Sulfur, while tying Sulfur once (in terrible weather conditions) and Clinton, MS, and only losing to Jesuit and Lafayette in PKs. That's pretty good.
Magnet has only played in one good tourney at St. Pauls and losing to Vandebilt Catholic (#1 D2), and tying Newman (#3 D3) and Mandeville (#10 D1)... not impressive enough but those were Magnet's first quality matches... Magnet has beaten Airline twice, Huntington twice, Neville once, West Monroe, Southwood, and Ouchita Christian... I admit, not impressive, but what you have to realize is this is a rival game, and by far the best match up north of Alexandria. Both teams will bring their A game hopefully on Tuesday. Good luck to both teams.

This will be a great contest. I will be present and I am looking forward to seeing how each team plays against each other. I feel that in this game, whoever passes the ball around better on the grass will succeed. That is how this game will be won.
I dont think Im going to make a prediction on this one, only because I have friends who are parents of kids on both teams! So good luck to you both!

Should be a good one. Looks like the weather will finally cooperate. Still surprised both principals agreed to let them play right in the middle of finals. I like h's score of 2-1 in favor of Shreve. No word yet on the date of the other make up. Hopefully it will be at the end of the season to get both teams up speed for the playoffs.

I wish I was closer so I could go see this one--it should be a great match between 2 excellent teams.
Whats this I hear there might not be any rain, snow, or mud? You guys up north might not know what to do with clear skies and a dry pitch! ;D I'm feeling for ya with this seasons weather--we are dodging it down south, but ya'll have been gettin hammered. I hope conditions are best, as these two quality programs deserve it.

If the Shreve team that played in the Sulphur tourney shows up, then the score could be 3-0 Gators. If they play like they did after the holiday break, Magnet could pull the upset. Shreve needs to play the ball wide, cross accurately and have the midfield get on the end of the crossed balls. I think Shreve has more overall speed and the midfield must play stand up "D" and shut down counterattacks. If the center mids stay with thier assigned marks, then the back line should have a relatively easy nite. The key for Shreve is to push numbers up, follow shots, dont fall in love with 1v1 dribbling, and FINISH!! Should be a great game, very intense

It's about time the weather let up. And it is very unfortunate that someone had the bright idea to place the game in between midterms. But, oh well, I think everyones just glad it's time for North La's showdown.
I don't see either team winning by more than 1. Its definately gonna be a physical game, and I'll bet we'll see a red or two (hopefully not). Either team could walk away with the win in this one, it's all about who wants it more. I'm calling Magnet by 1-0, but Shreve could win it if they play the way they did in Sulphur.

Here are the results of the 6 matches Shreve and Magnet have played over the last two years.
02-3 Shreve 1 Magnet 0 (Bossier Final) Shreve 2 Magnet 1 PKs (District) Shreve 5 Magnet 1 (District) 03-04 Shreve 1 Magnet 0 (Bossier Final) Shreve 2 Magnet 1 PKs (District) Magnet 1 Shreve 0 (District)
6 matches, all but 1 decided by a goal. I expect tonights match to be just as close. Weather will be great, field is still a little wet but in good shape. Good luck to everyone!
