Wish I could make this one because it has the makings of a slug fest. I have Catholic - B.R. beating St.Paul’s in the semis on their way to winning it all, but I have a sneaky suspicion that SP pull it out.

I have seen both played during the regular season and even though Catholic BR had a better beginning during the season , SP have been playing better each game since the beginning of the season while CBR have been able to Maintain their high expectations during the playoff it’s about who is hot and playing their best soccer up to this point , it will be a fun game to watch if you are willing to make the drive to the BR but I have SP with a 1-0 win over CBR in Overtime.

I think St. Paul’s comes out with a win in a nail biter 2-1. Momentum can go a long way in the playoffs, so I think their recent form brings them to another state final. Wouldn’t be surprised if CHS proves me wrong though

SPS 1-0, Catholic has trouble finishing and has won by sheer volume of chances. That won’t happen against sps.

Looks there will be some very strong/cold wind midday Saturday. Will definitely impact all the games going on.

I’ll be there to watch and report, even if there’s a livestream. I know some of y’all prefer to follow games like that.
I saw most of the first match between these two teams out at Burbank in late November, since we were playing Pope John Paul afterwards. Catholic pretty firmly controlled that match, but I expect this to be a highly competitive match.
I watched St. Paul’s at our Holiday Cup and you could tell they were still figuring some things out. It seems Coach Moser has made the necessary adjustments, and the Wolves have been playing at a high level for the last several weeks.
Catholic should probably considered slight favorites tomorrow, but I don’t think anyone would be shocked if St. Paul’s emerges victorious. Should be a great game! Both teams will be used to playing on turf, as well. I think Baton Rouge struggled to deal with loose balls on Catholic’s turf field Monday in part be because they mostly play on grass.
I’ll predict a one-goal win for Catholic, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it comes down to extra time or golden goal.

The game within the game will be 10 for St Paul versus the Catholic back line, especially 19 for Catholic. The Catholic back line has size and quickness. Their senior CB leads the group. If they handle the press and make St. Paul run without successfully pressuring the ball, it will be a long afternoon for the wolves. If St Paul can effectively pressure the back (which they did not do it the first two matchups ) then they may be able to score on Catholic. Two quick notes:
1) It hasn’t been mentioned but these teams actually locked up twice. The first time ended in a 4-0 Catholic win at St Paul. Yes it was a full game scrimmage , but just as dominate as the second game. The second ended in a 1-0 Catholic victory. In the first game , St Paul 10 seemed to play in midfield. Coach moved him to CB in the second game. 10 slowed down the Catholic scoring, but Catholic out shot St Paul 25 plus to 3. The move to striker has given St Paul more goal scoring power , but at what cost ? St Paul’s has not scored on Catholic in 80 minutes this season. Can they get one across using different personnel at forward ?
2) Catholic has given up 7 goals all year. 4 occurred on back ups after blow outs. The Catholic defense has been solid all year and even more so against the three opponents they faced in the playoffs. Again, for soccer aficionados , the game within the game is St Paul’s newer group of forwards pressuring the Catholic back line. Should be a fun game to watch. Lots of skill and physical talent on both sides.
Catholic has 11 seniors , most of whom played 05 and are now 18 years old. Not much rattles them. So have suggested that this is the best Catholic team ever. Of course , it doesn’t matter unless they win State. No one has physically pushed them around or dictated the pace of the game to them yet. Catholic 2-0.

Ok. I’m here. Kickoff is about 10 minutes away. Nice crowd of about 300 people to watch this semifinal.
The hosts Catholic High are in black jerseys with white numerals, orange shorts, and black socks.
Visiting St. Paul’s are in white jerseys with royal blue numerals, gold shorts, and white socks.
Referees wearing yellow shirts.

The weather is overcast and chilly. The temperature will stay around 47 throughout the match, with a 41 degree wind chill.
There is a 13 mph wind blowing from north to south, although it doesn’t seem to be a very ferocious wind. I don’t think it’ll affect the game much.

Catholic seems to be in a 4-4-2. St. Paul’s seems to be in more of a 4-5-1, with a holding midfielder to connect the blocks of four.

This angle is God awful. Nice pole covering the goal. Should stick with the higher angle.
