Uhhh... guys, the reason why any of these soccer games are played is to see who will win. Why have games if we know who will win before they are played? I think, even though Lafayette lost to St. Louis, that Lafayette is still the best team in the state. Every once in a while, a team has bad games. If not then there would be no point in playing them. Am I wrong here?

Thank you. Thats what I was trying to say the whole time. Some of our "guests" seemed to get things sidetracked though.

Stud I'm completely with you on your talent pool point. This year the talent is just not their. In the past you had the powerhouses such as laffy, Catholic, BM, Jesuit, St. Pauls, St. Louis, STM, Rummel, and Acadiana completey loaded with talent. I remeber STM when Brandon Bradley played. We couldn't tie those guys shoes. They were impresive to say the least. Know you see weeker team and players seem to stand out more. The one thing i see improving is the coaching and gamesmanship of theses teams (on the field).
Its sad to say but I know for a fact being that I still support westgate soccer that a fresh crop of freshman (no pun intended) will be comming up in two years with 5 or 6 kids that have played together on premier teams and for 11-12 year olds these kids can play. I see the future for westgate looking bright but between this year and next they will be fairly week. Their program has suffered dramatically between last season and this one. The supporting parrents are awesome but they had absolutly NO offseason program. To compete in D1 especially in Dist 3 you have got to have an offseason prog.
Whew I've said my peace and its been a while.

The talent statement about D-1 this year is true. But Laffy is a tough team, and them playing 4 games in one day, also in 2 inches of rain, give um a break. Untill your team beats them ( you too jesuit) stop talkin smack about them. St Louis has the only right, and they are even giving laffy respect.

When I first started reading this board 4 or 5 years ago, guests were allowed to post. A couple of years ago they changed it to where you had to register to post. I don't know if people complained about having to register or something, but I liked it better last year without all of the random guest postings

Hey kicker 35; 6 or 7 of the St Louis players play select in Lafayette, they are not all rec players and they do not play kick ball like you say. Lafayette will be stronget after the loss.

even if they do play premier who do they play premier for Lake Charles? when was the last time a team from Lake Charles won a premier state title? I am just simply saying the better premier players are certainly not in Lake Charles

At least they have a premier program, which is more than can be said for other areas of the state. Some players can't manage a two or three hour drive plus the expense of trying to develop at the next level. It would be nice if premier programs were easlily accessible to all who are willing and able to play at the next level. I would think that the fact that some hs kids do participate in programs, outside of high school, shows they have the willingness to learn and develop their skills. It seems to me, that soccer still struggles to compete against our more traditional sports. But those of us involved in soccer know what a brilliant sport it is. Lots of us strive to promote soccer and soccer development. And yet, there is so much bad mouthing of teams who are trying to develop and be more competitive. It seems like there would be more encouragement on here, for divisions and districts that are showing improvement. Why bash people who are participating in soccer outside of high school(rec/Div.I)? Why put down a program that is sure to help some willing players develop, even if in your eyes, it isn't one of the more well established programs?
The gap is slowly, but surely beginning to close. It will be great, when all areas of the state have programs in place that will truely develop the talent of young soccer players. Maybe it's just a dream, but I would think that all soccer players and fans would love to see that happen.

Yea, I mean, I hate Lafayette for losing one game, just hate em. Come on guys let's relax: Lafayette still has the most talented starting 11 in the state (Jesuit will have more depth but probably not as much quality in the first 11).
Actually I will say Jesuit can say whatever they want as the dynasty in Div I. Just my opinion but a winning tradition like theirs would probably lead to a tiny bit of arrogance. Then again, St. Louis, St. Martin's, Vandebilt, Ben Franklin, Jesuit - they all don't talk. Ahh, I love how great programs with great coaches behave and do not pay attention to the slander of an internet message board. OC-TC: There are lessons to be learned from keeping quiet even when someone insults your team.

I am just simply saying the better premier players are certainly not in Lake Charles thats a huge problem you can tell where good select programs are just by the highschool games. Look at lafayette and nosa these 2 areas have been domanate in highschool soccer. I think we as players, coaches, and parents need to get more and better programs in their towns.

I dont know how close you want to compare Laffy to St Pauls, but Laffy is the better team, that doesnt mean St. Pauls cant beat them on a good day, but they shouldnt be compared. Also, I dont think St. Pauls is being overlooked, i think they are right were they should be. But i guess thats why we play the game.

The Lafayette team I saw play was very good, fast, accurate and powerful. Saw them play at D'town. They were a championship looking team. they lacked one thing, CLASS. Very bad sports, would rather fight than play soccer. Coach got a red card, They kicked the ball after it had been set for free kicks several times. They got cards for that too! How good could they really be if they get other players respect you can't respect a team that does that even if they are state champs. I see high school soccer going into a direction that will some day make the game look like a WWF show. Maybe all the high school coaches will have enough balls to stop it some day. Its not just Layafette sorry to pick on them, it seems to be alot of teams today. Yea, I know everybody does it !! Have a great christmas everyone.

One thing i have noticed about lafayette is they always find the back of the net. Their shots are usually of good quality and they always finish up the little trash goals. When a team can finish like lafayette any little mistake hurts you. Thats what makes them so dangerous.

lhs's coach got a red card b/c he was trying to protect one of his players. a guy from lafayette high got his jersey torn from neck to almost bottom and the ref did hardly anything about it

Actually the guy who lost his jersey threw the first punch, about 10 yards down the field. Maybe thats what the ref saw, thats what I saw. The Coach was warned at least twice for what he was doing. That manner of play is below a championship team as Lafayette truly is. Again alot of teams play this way,D'town is getting there too. I think its about attitude and what coaches allow to happen. Looking forward to the state playoffs.

Didn't see any of this incident. Not sure what you meant by D'town getting this way...looked as if it implied you meant "dirty" play. Hope that wasn't the implication. I'd have to disagree. Isolated incidents are dealt with and have been in the past at D'town. A comment like this immediately followed by "its what the coach allows to happen" has the tone of implicating the coach directly. I hope that wasn't the intention.

I must agree with over40player. The ONLY thing Laffy is lacking is class. I would like to know how many red cards they have so for this season. They could be the standard that everyone else strives for if they would clean up the red cards issues.
Have seen both Jesuit and Laffy play and I don't see the lack of descipline on the field from Jesuit as i do from Laffy. Being a true champion is;"winning and losing with class" Think about that statement.
