I think I will post something that might shock some people. I don't think it is fair for us to have the "ghost of Lafayette" on the poll. Just as we argue that Lafayette deserved to play, Fountainebleau is a good team and (eventhough, I think Lafayette is a lot less affected by a wet field than Jesuit, and I think Lafayette would have won) could have beaten Lafayette had they played them. They still had to get on the field and beat Jesuit, which has only been done by Lafayette in the past 2 years until today. Carencro took a WC slot and then turned it in a finals spot. On their way they beat Acadiana, who had just come off a big win against Dutchtown, and then they had to beat Brother Martin, who was a hot team in the playoffs, at Brother Martin. Hats off to coach Talley and the Cro team for fighting hard and making it to the finals.
Neither of these two teams have ever been to the state finals. That means that this year will be the first state championship for the school that wins. I know mostly everyone on this board agrees that Lafayette deserved to get their chance, but the reality is they didn't get it. However, Fountainebleau did all that it could do. They played a tough St. Amant team, fought until the very end to beat Shreve, defeated Jesuit. I think FB would have rather faced Lafayette to erase doubt, but unfortunately they aren't able to do that. All they can do is win the games they play and they have, same with Cro. For that, both these teams deserve to be commended and deserve respect for being where they are right now, and both with very young teams.
I would have liked for it all to be settled on the pitch, but under the circumstances, this is the best way it could have played out. It should be a fun final to watch. Good luck to both teams.

hdkjga, I agree that "ghost of Lafayette" should not be here. They got a bum rap, but lets not take away from the two fine clubs in the finals.

And I talked to a neighbors friends daughters old boyfriend's cousin from the westbank, and he told me that he heard from his neice's teachers ex-wife who is a 3rd cousin of the old coach at FHS that FHS played their freshmen team only...

I think that this will be a pretty close game, but i think that FHS is going to dominate this game, not because they are the better team, but because of their awsome midfield, i have FHS winning 3-1 and Hickman with 2 goals in the first half.

Way to say it happyjack. boomboomgoal shows that he knows nothing about FHS. Jesuit did play their bench. Their starting bench. FHS had 4 starters that did not play today. 3 didn't play because of injury and 1 who has battled the flu this week. FHS had players on the bench step in for starters.
Better watch out for this FHS team next year. Any of their JV players could have played as well on the field today. I think the outcome would have been the same.
Jesuit's players let their emotions take over on the field. Never a win situation. FHS remained calm and focused. True winners.
Don't forget most of you before today had picked Jesuit to take this second chance all the way to win state. How do you know FHS wouldn't have performed the same against LHS? And the same posted BMHS to win over Carencro.
Neither Carencro or FHS should have anything taken away from their achievements this year. They both have earned their right to the final game fair and square.
Also, don't forget........FHS had to deal with not knowing who they were facing until Friday night for sure. I would say they were in for the mental challenge no matter what team they were going to play. Carencro also proved this as well.

You should take off the ghost of Lafayette. Not fair to FHS or Carencro.

Wait a second. Throughout this ordeal, it was repeated time and again that life was not fair and that Lafayette had to suck it up. Sorry guys, you cannot have it both ways. An injustice was done on Thursday and everyone knows it. The ghost of Lafayette is over this championship and everyone knows that too. Even though I will pull 100% for Carencro in the final, there will always be this hovering spectre no matte who wins.

I agree LafayetteDad that LHS players were not justly treated. I am saying that don't take away the victories of CHS or FHS. They had nothing to do with this.
You can't say, that the out come would not be the same either way. I know you would want your team in there, just as any other would want the same. But, unfortunately this didn't happen.
I also, think this year will go down as remembering and wondering what may have been without this foolish act. I still think the outcome could have possibly been the same.
Unfortunately, we will never know.

Indeed, FHS and CHS deserve the finals. Congrats to whoever wins for their 1st one ever. I'm picking Cro 2-0

im not taking anything away from Fontainebleau they did all they had to do to get into the finals but im just saying the last couple of years its all been lhs vs jhs. im not a fan of jesuit at all, im completely against them i would rather lose to the worst team in the state than jesuit, what im saying is that jesuit at full strength is clearly better than Fontainebleau and so is lafayette high. i feel bad for Fontainebleau because they didnt have the chance to prove themselves against lafayette high but hopefully we will meet next year

... ok here is what im hearin from you guys... FHS - 1 Jesuit Bench - 0
then
FHS - 1 Jesuit starters - 0
Hmm not much of a difference eh? The team that wants it the most will win it, it will be too close to try and predict.
