Dogabone - Are you an impartial observer or a Dutchtwon player/supporter? I am just trying to determine if the second PK was a "Terrible" call or a little biased opinion. Pitchstalker gave a classy summary of the game, but because he has class, obviously would not get into the details if he truly believed it was a bad call and was the reason his team lost. However, it would be helpful for those of us that did not see the game to get a game summary from an impartial observer- was the score indicative of the game?was the second PK a bad call? number of shots on goal for each team?who seemed to be the better team? etc From the summaries of the game on Wednesday and today, it seems that both teams are evenly matched, with a slight edge to Catholic since they did win both games (2 games in 3 days)?? Good luck to both teams in the playoffs. Represent district 4 well!!

Correction to the above post. Catholic beat Dutchtown twice in 5 days not 3.

Big game this wednesday between BRHS and St Amant. Only one playoff spot left in District 4, and one of these 2 teams will get it. BRHS wins and they are in. St Amant wins and then they need either a win against Catholic or Dutchtown and/or some help in goal differential--Gators are -6, BRHS is even, but GD swings are biggest in games against each other. Gators have three games left(BRHS, Dutchtown, Catholic), BRHS 2 (St Amant, Catholic). Gators havent won but 1 time in 8 years at Baton Rouge, but BRHS hasnt won at The Pit in the same amount of time. This game is always tight between these two teams, and this one should be no different. Senior night for St Amant, so standouts Sebastian Torrado, Jake Aucoin and Cody Wilson should be at their very best. Should be a great match.

Having not been around in the high school soccer scene very long, when was the last time either of these two teams missed play offs?

Huge game this wednesday as CoachRay said. Playoff spot on the line. Should be a great (crazy) environment at The Pit. Loud crowds, lots of emotion, high stakes. Can't ask for much more.

dogabone-- the two pk calls seemed like very obvious calls to me the first was a blatant foul when a dtown defender just hammered a chs player in the box while he was going up for a head ball---a very clear foul the second was a short break away for a chs forward in the box where he was one on one with the keeper and had a clear goal scoring opportunity when he was fouled from behind while shooting by a dtown defender both calls were not even questionable to me so i dont see how you think it was a TERRIBLE call.... also, chs should have had two or three more goals toward the end when they had break aways that they shot directly at the dtown keeper so stop making excuses...

St. Amant - 2 BRHS - 1
St. Amant was down 1-0 at half. St. Amant came back with a Sebastian Torrado goal in the 2nd. game finished in the 1st OT with another Sebastian Torrado goal. It was a corner kick and it went off of the goalie into the net.

I'll give a partial. i drove up to a 1-0 score about 8 minutes in, and then WHS scored off a corner i think as i was getting out of my truck. Watched the rest of the first half and there was very little cohesiveness by either team due to the pitiful playing conditions. Field was a swamp. Both teams basically had to play kickball and it was pretty even. Dtown got a good chance with about 9 mins to go in the half on a dangerous play in the box. Got an indirect but didnt get the shot to go and it was cleard out of the goal mouth. Didnt much else happen and i had to leave at half--Woodlawn was up 2-0.

Second half....Dutchtown played more on Woodlawn's half of the swamp..with Woodlawn having attacks every so often. Literally the mud would cover your entire shoe when you walked....deplorable conditions. But both teams played in it and Woodlawn was able to put two away very early and hold on. I would say they had more "lucky" balls bounce their way, but there were absolutely NO balls bouncing in those conditions. Dutchtown scored with about 5-6 minutes left but could not put any of their other chances away.
Shots taken were about 9-8 in Woodlawn's favor the first half and ended about 19-10 (total) in Dutchtown's favor (at least that is what I had down)
It was comical at points with players pulling the ball up onto their shoe just so they could throw it forward. Games should not be played on fields in those conditions.
Does anyone know from the handbook if a coach has any authority to refuse to play on a field or is it solely up to the refs? I'm being lazy..I'll pull out my handbook later.
I only ask for future reference...teams shouldn't be asked to play in those conditions and it only ruins your field for any future games.

My understanding is. (I am not 100% sure so if I am wrong correct me.) The home team can call the game, or have it moved if they feel their field conditions are not "playable." However, once the referee's show up, it is up to them if the game shall move on or not. I don't think the oppenant coach has a choice but to try and talk to the referees before the game about it.
