Catholic 4 St Amant 1
Quick summary--mid tempo game that both teams kinda coasted through. Both teams started a bit slow after St Amant senior night festivities. Bears got a PK about 4 minutes in, then added another goal at the 12 minute mark on a a nice shot. Gators pulled one back about 6 minutes later when C-bass got sprung and made it 2-1. Looked like St Amant would get back in the game, but CHS scored a third with about 6 to go til half. Second half was fairly uneventful, with Catholic catching Gators in transition and putting together a really nice four pass combination for Goal #4 with about 12 to play. Catholic looked sharp and moved the ball well. St Amant played hard and with enthusiasm, but just looked worn out from a tough week. Gator GK Brice Noel looked very good tonight, making a couple of really nice saves. Noel has put together a nice run here at the end of the season, and his continued inspiring play will help St Amant in the playoffs. This usually big rivalry game seemed to lack the usual excitement that surrounds it tonight--neither team had anything to gain or lose with this match, and both teams played a lot of players. Good luck to Catholic as tonight ends a 15 year era of these two teams being in the same district.
