Vandy was struggling for awhile. No killer instinct to put away teams. It's back.
Who are the other 4 teams you would consider?

I think that Vandy will always be in the hunt just b/c of their history. STM is very capable. EA has been very consistant. Can't count out Tara, Deridder, AHS, Pineville. Remember, playoffs are in February. Cold and rain or sun and hot all in the same week. Also, many teams may end up in the same side of bracket. That leaves door open for Ben Franklin and others that usually end up in lower half of bracket. VC & STM cannot meet in finals because they usually end up on upper half of bracket.

I know it's early, but since you brought up playoff brackets... Is there a more clear picture this year of the WC assignments? i.e. - where will the 1-1 and 1-2 opponents come from this year? Last year 1-1 (Shreve) got a D1D2 wildcard, but 1-2 (Magnet) got a D1D3 (Carencro) wildcard. Will there even be a D1D2 wildcard this year?

And one more comment on playoff brackets... How hard would it be to go with the current even district-odd district bracket pattern BUT make the LAPrep Top 4 (which most will agree are fairly obvious by the end of the season) the exception, and seed those four so they could not meet until the semis?

As for brackets, its still way too early to tell. As for the North LA mtachups, last year 2-2 and 6-2 were preset against each other, so that shifted the WC placement--effcts were felt in BTR, when 4-4 was sent to the Northshore for only the second time ever. This year, 6-2 is preset with 4-2, so we should see the regular WC swaps between Districts 1, 2, and 3.
I beleive District 2 WILL get a wildcard this year--Holy Cross and Shaw will not win any more than 2 games in D9 and at best will have a district record of 2-6. Neither has done well otherwise, so Ouachita should get in if they can win 1 game in district. District 8 will have no WC as Grace King and Bonnabel will both beat Higgins twice, and Higgins normally doesnt play much of a schedule--do they even have a team this year, and has anybody played them?
Heres my picks based on what we know right now, current standings, and some gut feelings
D1: 1-Caddo, 2-Shreve, WC-Byrd, Airline D2: 1-Ruston, 2-West Monroe, WC-Ouachita D3: 1-Carencro, 2- Lafayette, WC-Acadiana, NISH D4: 1-Catholic, 2-Dutchtown, WC-St Amant, Woodlawn D5: 1-Fontainebleau, 2-St Pauls WC-Northshore, Ponchatoula D6: 1-Destrehan, 2-Hahnville WC-East St John, West Jefferson D7: 1-Central Lafourche, 2-South Terrebonne WC-Terrebonne, Thibodaux D8: 1-Grace King, 2-Bonnabel D9: 1-Jesuit, 2-Brother Martin, WC-Rummel

higgins usually only plays district games (consisting of four) and maybe a select few of other games against other westbank opponents of john ehret and west jefferson.
