As a member of the class of 2007, a student-athlete, and a very spirited fan of all sports at St. Amant High School(other than the basketball and track teams, both of which i am a member of.), i just want to make our mission clear. If you are one of the 1,000+ viewers of the "St. Amant-5, Destrehan-0" thread, you have probably seen the ridicule that we've taken from some opponents, and also the opposing fans. As a whole, we are in no way racists(as accused) and in no way try to single out one member of the opposing team(as accused). We all athletic events in which St. Amant athletes compete(From football to swimming) and we try to support our fellow students to our best ability, which is pretty good i might add. Though we are very vocal, and sometimes considered little harsh, we know that there is a certain line that can not be crossed, and we will definitely not cross it. I'm sure I'm going to get a few responses on this thread, so if there are any questions, just re-post.

Oh, don't worry about that, the Gators are coming with the shocker, and the 12th man award is going to go to the "Pit Crazies".

I've been to the Pit and have witnessed with eyes and EARS the Pit crazies for one of the most intense Ascension Parish rivalry (EA - St Amant)... NEVER I've heard something inappropriate, racist or out of control!! They're just die hard fans supporting their school athletics...

So the coach played the race card, eh? Works every time. I'm calling BS on this one.
Reading the St Amant 5 Destrahan 0 post was the most entertainment I've had in a while. How does a high school coach, at a large D1 school with a zillion kids, come on Laprep and admit he is only able to spend the time to coach 11 players. This is not his first year at that school. What is he doing about it? Nada. Next year he will "only have 11 players" and the year after that he will "only have 11 players," gimme a break. Is Lafrenier/Kenny/RB not developing players anymore?
Someone needs a cookie.
I want to see the rematch. (At the junior high field, a/k/a The Pit, of course).

You made a good point, but the Pit is on of the best High School Stadiums in Louisiana. It just happens to be located at the middle school.

And before anyone thinks I am a homer for Coach Ray, I blasted him last year for withdrawing his team from the St Paul tournament b/c Tyler was hurt.
And I also pointed out STAf needs a regulation soccer field.

sincerely, we all love the atmostphere that you bring to the game.
Just remember, keep it clean while you are supporting your team and having fun.
Ps. As if I don't have to tell you this, the officials hate when you give them a hard time.... find a way to get your point across while winning over the favor of the officials.
Contrary to many of my past posts, I do like St. Amant soccer and support them to being successful as the year continues.
Best of luck and have fun for the remainder of the year.

1. St. Amant… Still Not A Top 10 Vote Sorry, Coachray, but that’s the way it is. On the night of DHS vs. St. Amant, DHS was missing 6 starting varsity players. I wish I could tell the story different. I would love to have come to your place and put a whipping on your team but that’s not the case. I was dealt the hand that I was giving to work with that night. Maybe next year in district play we can give you a better game. On this night, you played a JV team. I only have eleven deep for the Varsity team. We don’t sub unless we have to. And tonight, you played the JV plus 5 varsity players. Congradulations on your win. Pass that onto your players and supporters. Pat yourselves on the back for a great win. For the Pit Crazies… way to go… your team was the team to have several yellows plus a red card. That’s a great way to teach your players to get ready for college soccer that penalizes for the accumulation of both yellow and red cards. You’re doing a great job of cheering your team on. Keep up the good work. As for the game summary that Coachray40 put up, that’s far from the way the game went. This was a very boring one sided game. There was no possession involved in the match. It was a kick and run game by St. Amant. There was no striking ability shown by the Gators. Yes, they did score 5 goals, but if you call scoring 3 goals by scoring in a shoebox striking ability then think what you want. So, three goals scored off the shoebox that we played in (throw(2)/corners(1) (and yes, I give it them, they were more aggressive than we were). So, the other goal was off a misjudgment off one of there regular long balls (40-50 yard clearances) that bounced over our central backs head and gave a break away. And the fifth goal, I don’t remember but it was nothing special… because if it was I would have remembered it. On this night, St. Amant should have beaten us but at least 10-12 to 0. As a coach, I even put the weakness out in front of the coach and the team in the second half. They never figured out how to play soccer and score easy goals. That’s how I can say that this team is very weak and will not do anything in district and will not make the state playoffs. While trying to score a single goal against them, they couldn’t figure out our single most weakness and score off of it. I could say more here but I am going to keep it to myself. But, to give credit to St. Amant, you beat a Destrehan team that was only playing 5 varsity players for this match. And yes, we knew we were going to go down on this one. I’d love to play you with our best eleven when we are all available. Hopefully next year in district play we can have all of these eleven ready to play. As for this year… you got us and enjoy it. As for the teams that have yet to play St. Amant… The game went like this… St. Amant wins the ball and looks to kick it long every time and run after the ball. They are very athletic and look to make that their advantage. They don’t play soccer. When Destrehan won the ball, they looked to possess the ball which they weren’t able to do very well and move the ball forward. Often, they moved the ball into the final 3rd and lost it before getting any shooting opportunity. That’s just the way it went with a lot of fouls in between. When St. Amant went forward (kicked the ball 40 or 50 yards upfield), they weren’t able to create many scoring opportunities within the flow of play. They relied on the shoebox that they play in for long throws and corners. Play them on a half-way regulation size field and they can’t do anything against you. They don’t know how to play possession soccer and create opportunities. As far as a C-Bass show, I never saw it. He scored a couple of garbage goals besides the long break away he got. He's not a game maker. I never saw him take control of this game. He doesn't get involved enough and isn't physical enough to make an impact. He never looked to get the ball and make things happen. Against good teams, he will not be any worry. He needs to get more involved in the game. C-Bass may have scored 3 garbage goals against a very weak Destrehan varsity-JV team on this night, but against a good team this isn't going to happen. And the St. Amant defense and GK may have held a weak Destrehan team to a shut out but good luck against a stronger team. We look forward to playing you in the playoffs if thats the way it may go otherwise next year in district play. Overall, very boring game that got very physical for the wrong reasons. Best of luck to them for their upcoming games. 2. sincerely, we all love the atmostphere that you bring to the game. Just remember, keep it clean while you are supporting your team and having fun. well all this talk has probably created a situation where the pit crazies will be watched very closely from admin and refs. Any reference to race, sexually preference ,gender, anatomical parts,or heritage will be not be tolerated. So ,pit crazies enjoy the game but know the game is not the only thing being watched

I've played at "The Pit" this year and I think what the fans do there is great. I thought our game was a one time thing where many students showed up to watch a game. Apparently, the "Pit-Crazies" are always there. I think in Louisiana so many students aren't interested in soccer including at our school. We have to have a very special occasion or maybe an open date on a Friday night game for kids to show up at our games. As for the insulting and loud thrashing of opposing players I think would be okay for the fans to do but if it comes to rascism and cursing, it's going a little too far. As an opposing player for St. Amant, I think its nice for them to have a loud student section. Not only does it pump their own St. Amant players up, i think it encourages the opposing team to play harder as well.

Crazies were in midseason form last night. refs had me send over DB to calm them down after a little fracas involving a player from Indy who wiped out Jordan Lambert after the play. I was told by the ref last night that the Crazies were causing the problem. I asked him exactly what were they doing--he said they were being loud. Um.....ok....and......?
Last night the Crazies were tickticktick boom Dynamite
