Wednesday 22 March
Coverage of the international friendly between Germany and the USA at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund, kick-off 7.30pm(english time) / 1.30pm (LA time). Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann will be focused on ensuring his side bounce back after their morale-sapping 4-1 loss to Italy earlier in this month.

He isnt that focused if he has spent half his time since the last German friendly in California.
I usually dont side with the US in a game against a major opponent internationally, but I think this time it might be the US' game to win. Germany has been unimpressive of late, and Arena is bringing in the big names for this match. As long as Claudio Reyna plays very little(OVER, clap, clap RATED clap clap), the US will have a good chance here, even playing on foreign soil.

Not really, reyna has been of little impact in midfiels over the last fewyears--he has lost a step, doesnt direct the attack very well, and plays at one speed--SLOW. His time has passed. His misfortune is the US' good fortune--now we can get some speed and creativity in midfield. Reyna has ben hurt more than Micheal Owen in the last few years...OOOPS, I didnt go there!

well it still is a blow because of his knowledge of the game is much higher than most of his team mates and he knows what hes doing. he still is very strong though. doesnt he play defence for manchester city?

I don't understand the problem with Reyna, the US needs experience and he's got it. He starts for Man City when he is healthy and they are a good side.

But anyway, I don't think the US will have all their starters for this game, I read online that people were hurt and since it isn't an international week, most European players will not be released.

Mourinho's deciding tonight whether or not to let Robert Huth leave to play for Germany, as Chelsea have FA Cup game against Newcastle at the same time! Now that Gallas will receive a domestic ban...perhaps Mourinho will have to play him.

Mourinho's deciding tonight whether or not to let Robert Huth leave to play for Germany, as Chelsea have FA Cup game against Newcastle at the same time! Now that Gallas will receive a domestic ban...perhaps Mourinho will have to play him. This is the side Germany will be sending out.... Goalkeepers: Oliver Kahn (Bayern Munich/Germany), Jens Lehmann (Arsenal/England), Timo Hildebrand (VfB Stuttgart/Germany). Defenders: Arne Friedrich (Hertha Berlin/Germany), Robert Huth (Chelsea/England), Marcell Jansen (Bor. M'gladbach/Germany), Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich/Germany), Per Mertesacker (Hannover 96/Germany), Patrick Owomoyela (Werder Bremen/Germany), Christoph Metzelder (Borussia Dortmund/Germany), Manuel Friedrich (Mainz/Germany). Midfielders: Sebastian Kehl (Borussia Dortmund/Germany), Michael Ballack (Bayern Munich/Germany), Sebastian Deisler (Bayern Munich/Germany), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich/Germany), Tim Borowski (Werder Bremen/Germany), Torsten Frings (Werder Bremen/Germany), Fabian Ernst (Schalke 04/Germany), Bernd Schneider (Bayer Leverkusen/Germany). Forwards: Gerald Asamoah (Schalke 04/Germany), Mike Hanke (Wolfsburg/Germany), Miroslav Klose (Werder Bremen/Germany), Lukas Podolski (Cologne/Germany). I think Huth and Lehman are the only players in a league other than the Bundesliga on that roster, and all the players from the German league will definitely be made available. So if Huth is normally a starter and ends up not going they will be missing only one person that will start for them in the World Cup (since Deisler is now out of the picture with his torn ACL).

This is the USA's apparent roster....... Goalkeepers (2) – Marcus Hahnemann (Reading FC), Kasey Keller (Borussia Moenchengladbach)
Defenders (7) – Gregg Berhalter (Energie Cottbus), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City Wizards), Cory Gibbs (ADO Den Haag), Heath Pearce (FC Nordsjælland), Eddie Pope (Real Salt Lake)
Midfielders (6) – Bobby Convey (Reading FC), Chris Klein (Real Salt Lake), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado Rapids), Ben Olsen (D.C. United), Kerry Zavagnin (Kansas City Wizards)
Forwards (4) – Brian Ching (Houston Dynamo), Eddie Johnson (Kansas City Wizards), Taylor Twellman (New England Revolution), Josh Wolff (Kansas City Wizards)
Frankie Hejduk and Landon are both injured at the moment, so the US will only have a 17 man makeshift squad. Hopefully they do well.

Huth stays will Chelsea. Mourinho wants him for FA Cup game.
Mike Hanke has been replaced by Oliver Neuville, due to injury. Frings also misses out.

Dietmar Hamann isnt on the roster since i guess last autumn.... By the way, its true that germany hasnt played very well lately. But i can imagine that they gonna show what they r really capable of after losing 1-4 to italy 3weeks ago! So my prediction is that germany wins it either 3-0 or its gonna be a real close one, like 3-2....well, we'll see...game starts in about an hour...

Germany beats USA 4-1 .... US-goal has been the biggest gift in soccer ever!! Johnson fouled Kahn and the ball went into the goal....nobody knew why the ref called it a goal....
