My top contender is St. Amant beacuse they are a very focused team whos got players that can make things happen. St. Amant has got a great foward in Erica Arnold who can put the ball in the net with no problem, they will hace no trouble scoring.

lmsessi11, you have just put a bullseye on a young player, there are now several defender who will be out to prove you wrong. What happens the first time this great scorer gets shutdown by the other district contenders? Is there someone else who can step in? BRHS feels they have at least two scoring threats (a sophomore & a junior) and neither is being hyped. The top teams in the district all feel they have a defender who can shutdown any forward on any night. That is what makes it fun to watch.

SJA 1/St. Michael 0 last night on a wet and sloppy field @ Burbank 5. 0-0 @ HT. Maggie Eggers scores for SJA 5 mins into the 2nd half on a beautiful feed from Alex Zimmerman. SJA plays entire roster. Looked sluggish in 1st half, but it was the first scrimmage -- plus several recent practices got wiped out by rain. SJA controlled play throughout, but STM has some outstanding players -- one especially skilled and fast forward. Roster depth showed. A good first scrimmage for SJA. STM will make some noise this year.

anyone know where the Fontainebleau game on thursday is being played? mmill32, I'm pretty sure the game will be played at Burbank Soccer Complex in Baton Rouge. That is pretty much where St. Joe's plays all of its games.

Burbank Field 6 -- 1st field behind front pavillion as you drive into the complex. Even though only a scrimmage -- will be a very good early test for SJA. Fully expect FB to win, but if SJA can hang with a very young team, will hopefully build their confidence going into reg season. SJA has already been hit with early injury bugs.

Sweeper Paige Menier rolled an ankle that might be worse than 1st feared. She is one of the young guns in their super-soph class, has terrific field vision, and was very much being counted on. Hopefully, she'll be back.

How come there the was only a score for STA v. EA. Beating a Division II team by only one goal was not sufficent to crow about? A brief rundown of the game might have been nice.

If there is any good news for Menier, and it may well have ended her season is that she is ONLY a sophomore. So has plenty of time to help make an impact at St Joes.

For PumasFC:
The STA vs. EA game was very competative and aggresive like every year. Both teams were missing some key players but it was still exciting to watch. STA held the ball on the offensive side for most of the game but EA's defense really stepped up and shut down alot of chances. The score came in the second half when a forward from STA was clipped right in front of the goal before putting it in. STA got a PK and finished it. Good game but both teams have room for improvement.

SJA is not that bad, but did run into a lethal buzz saw last ag/ Fontainebleau. SJA has a lot of youth, and moved players around. With a couple of additions from a premier team still playing, plus some other expected additions after v'ball and cross country complete their seasons, SJA has the room and the capability to vastly improve. Last night was a real eye opener. Let's hope they take it the right way as understanding that a lot of sweat, a fair amount of blood, and ZERO TEARS will be needed to compete in this district.

I don't mean to get in something that wasn't directed to me but I'm pretty sure that the threats you mentioned are actually being "hyped". ZidanezShrink wrote, BRHS has the best scorers in Henderson and Carter. But on another note, I believe both teams will be amazing this year with hard work and dedication.
