Also, refer to the top 10 each week and we try to add who beat who on that list.

Tough game for SJA against Newman last night in NO. But SJA played a lot better compared to when they played Fontainebleau. They have work to do, but they're moving in the right direction. Ashley Brunet scored on a free kick in about the 20th minute to put SJA up 1-0, but then Newman got it going. SJA is headed to Lake Charles this weekend, and one senses that the corner is approaching. This has been a ferocious non-district schedule!!
edited to add -- just got an e mail that SJA has lost another starter to an ankle injury, although they're saying it's a couple of weeks, so hopefully she'll be back soon. Just another road block that this team will have to overcome.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!

East ascension 3 Woodlawn 1 Ea opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a Penalty Kick after a controversial call - hand ball in the box (the press box window frame kept me from seeing it so I have to go by what parents, coaches and players said)- was netted to make the score 1-0. Six minutes later EA took a corner kick that went to the top of the penalty area on the far side from the corner. WHS failed to contest it and EA was able to knock in a 2nd goal putting the game firmly out of reach. Woodlawn showed a little spark in the 24th minute WHS when the central midfielder sent a ball diagonally through to the onrushing forward who found herself in a one v one with the GK. She calmly slotted it home to cut the score to 2-1 at the intermission. Second half opened with a lot of possession changes with the WHS being busier than EA counterpart. At the 56 minute mark EA forward gathered a ball at the halfway line and dribbled uncontested (WHS defender with no support could only back up and hope for some support) when the defender fell down at the penalty arc the forward took one step to her left and let go a shot that the WHS GK had no chance of getting to. Coach Goodall subbed liberally in both halves. This probably was a good way to prepare for the District games looming a head. Hard to pick out an outstanding player on either team.

Split-Logg in goal for WHS and Faxon for EA likely fit that bill for outstanding players in this particular game, though it had the feel of first post-turkey day outing.

after going 2-0 to open Lake Charles tourney, SJA fell 4-1 to a very good Barbe team, and then 1-0 to Louis in a hotly contested, well played match that included some highly dubious officiating.

Not so sure if it is their first game, but you are correct, in upcoming game.
EAHS host Baton Rouge High Tuesday at 5:30pm. They also did play each other in the Dutchtown Jamboree.

Did it take BRHS this long to practice together before playing a game or is it that they needed their high profile players back from Club commitments before embarking on the season.

St. Scholastica will be hosting St. Amant tomorrow. Just confirming because the schedule on page one says St.Amant will be hosting but there was most likely a mix up.
