Jesuit did play a good game. However, the officiating was not consistant at all. Didn't everyone see Brenan get hacked from behind in the box? That foul should have been called. If Shreve scores and goes up 2-0, I'm not sure if Jesuit comes back and wins. I've seen that center referee call some games before; nothing impressive at all. I know that players win games, but it's hard to do so when the ref doesn't inforce the Laws of the Game.

On Jesuits first real good scoring opportunity, one of their attackers gets nailed pretty good in the back. It wasn't called either. The foul on Brennan was more visible to everyone since it was out in the open. If he calls one, maybe he calls the other. Both could have been considered fouls. He chose to call neither. In my book, that is consistancy by a referee. Jesuit as they always seem to do, makes you pay for any mistake you may make in the back. They also create more chances than any team I have seen this year. Shreve played a good game, just not good enough to win.

Where do I start? Well I guess with Soccergsp. It has been a great year and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks so much for inviting me to your home yesterday. I had a great time and I enjoyed meeting many of the Shreve and Caddo players. The food and the company were great, thanks again. To the Shreve parents at the tailgate party thanks as well it was a lot of fun. To Matt Greens mom thanks as well! To my good friend Timerman, (Jesuit fan), it was great to see you and visit as always. For all the people who complain about driving to Shreveport STOP, I went there and came back in one day, if you love soccer suck it up and go, nuff said about that!
Congrats to the J’s, the team I love to pull against. Yall proved once again to be the best in the state, (man that hurts), your coach was great at switching things up during the game giving you advantages all game long. It was great to see the outside defenders making runs, (not enough teams do that), #22 did it all night and he was involved in many offensive attacks. #7 is a beast and doesn’t get near enough credit for the J’s. OK that is as much as I can stomach when it comes to talking good about Jesuit.
The Shreve gators WOW! What a year. Yall were not “the team” in Shreveport going into the season and look at what yall accomplished! Congrats on a very good season! To my good friend Brennan, thanks for letting me be a part of your season, you played “two tap” soccer all year I am very proud of you. To Connor great job and what a future you have in front of you. To the coach and all the other players’ great job you had a great season. Last night you played great but the J’s were just the better team. nothing wrong with that. Some of the players that stood out for Shreve last night were B & C of course, Will M, and Logan. Shreve50 your son played his best game of the season last night I know you are proud of him. Lastly Matt Green kept his team in the game with three great saves. He has been solid all year. Thanks again D1 for another great season of soccer. In closing I have to say it, WATCH OUT FOR THE RAMS NEXT YEAR!

Jesuit rallies to gain 9th state soccer titlewww.nola.com/timespic/stories/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1235888512228480.xml&coll=1Sunday, March 01, 2009 By Tammy Nunez Staff writer SHREVEPORT -- Jesuit is a dynasty in Division I boys soccer. And the powerhouse added its ninth state championship soccer trophy to the case on Saturday after defeating Captain Shreve 4-1 IT WAS 3-1 in front of a Gator-fan-heavy Independence Stadium crowd. It is the third time the Blue Jays (31-0-2) have finished a season undefeated. But it wasn't easy early. Jesuit played without its most acclaimed player, forward Patrick Mullins, because of a previously scheduled Olympic Development regional appearance in Argentina. Missing him and weathering a fierce Captain Shreve opening push put Jesuit behind. The Gators mounted an attack in the 10th minute of the match that paid off. Brennan Randel broke off his defender and zipped a cross to Will Monsour, who kicked a hard shot into the left side of the net. "We're used to being down," said Jesuit forward Mark Reuther, who was selected the most outstanding player for scoring two goals. "The last few games we've been down and we clawed our way back, and we did it again tonight." Captain Shreve held the lead until the 33rd minute. That was when Jesuit's Michael Simmons headed Stephen Cabos' corner kick with precision into the goal to tie the score at 1. "If he hadn't gotten that goal, I don't know if we would have been able to come back," Reuther said. "That was a big momentum change." Reuther is in his first season back after breaking his femur in half playing soccer during his sophomore year. He was a part of the Blue Jays' state championship swim team this fall and got his second championship of the school year. Reuther scored twice in a 10-minute span in the second half on one-on-ones with the Captain Shreve goalkeeper Matt Green. The first goal broke the deadlock in the 60th minute. Reuther took a feed from Zach Correa and drew Green out of the net. Reuther toed the ball to the right of Green for the goal and a 2-1 lead. "Oh, that was a great ball, it was the best ball I've seen in forever," Reuther said. "I knew it was going in; I started going crazy before it went in." By the time Reuther made the second goal in the 70th minute, the Blue Jays were back where they have been all season: dominating. Jesuit Coach Hubie Collins said Reuther's confidence made a huge difference. "He is a very composed player, and when he gets himself into those situations he's got a knack and eye for the goal," Collins said. "And his finishing was excellent. He kept the ball low and drove under the goalkeeper. Maybe a lesser player would have panicked or got nervous in that situation. But I think he must have ice blood flowing through those veins." The match ended up as advertised. The top two seeds in the bracket met for a championship. But in the end, the program accustomed to making it to the finals won. It was the Gators' (28-3) first state championship appearance. "We came out in the first half a little flat, and I think Shreveport was able to capitalize on that," Collins said. "I was delighted we were able to respond to that. We kind of said, 'Look, let's stick to our game plan and not panic. Let's not worry about the fact we are playing into a strong wind.' And the boys came out and did stick to that, and we were able to get the go-ahead goal."

The Referee is probably in the top 10 referees in the state, and has experience on levels of games you have never even come close to watching or participating in. I know the exactly situation you feel should have been a PK, and while I agree with Shrevedad, both teams had a similiar situation and neither was calls. That is true consistency. Can't ask for anything more. I would love one year to go by, where a referee is not mentioned in the same post as a complaint for the reason of a loss

Brennan got fouled pretty badly. He most likely would have scored.

not blaming the game on this at all ^^^ but he shouldn't be the one reffing the finals
how about the short hispanic guy? i forget his name, he lets em play, does a good job, and i've never heard of ANY player having ANY problem with him.
if you're not sure who i'm talking about, he's that short hispanic guy that's a total bad**s.

I do agree with sissoko. From what I saw last night, there are far better referees in the state. If you watch the video, Kramer easily tripped B randel when he went by which should of resulted to a pk and a red card. It could of been a completely different game because its hard to come back from 2 down with 10 players. But I will agree Jesuit was the better team last night.

watch the youtube video of the second half. the part at 5:40 he totally blows it. and it led to the goal. not complaining, just noting. I thought jesuit was the better team last night and deserved the win, though I would have rather seen Shreve win. Oh well, NLA4Lyf

From what i saw from the game, Jesuit was hands down better. They possessed the ball way more, attacked from all different angles, and what i saw the most, they won everything in the air. I think i counted three times Shreve won something in the air the whole game. To me Shreve didnt have much of an approach on offense, yeah they had a few good chances, but only one was really capitalized on. Otherwise it was just boot it up to the Randels hoping they would get it, but pretty much everytime Jesuit's defenders shut them down.
The ref? eh definitly some blown calls. My favorite was when Jesuits player went down and thought he got a foul, managed to hold the ball with his arms to get up (completely obvious to the crowd) while the ref just said play on. So he just started dribbling with it after grabbing the ball. I guess he just didn't see it haha. But the ref was consistent i have to say, he did let the teams play on a lot.

First of all, congratulations to Jesuit. You guys were ranked #1 all year and proved very worthy of that recognition. You played a great game last night and deserve to be State Champions. My hope was that if Shreve lost, I didn't want any excuses of playing bad on either side of the field and I believe that's how it ended. Our boys played their hearts out and didn't give up even when the third goal was scored. We played our best, but the best team won.
To my Shreve players. We are all so proud of you, I believe you have proven to be the best team in Shreve history. The stats show it. Maybe we are on to something here. We will not likely see another brother combo like we saw this year on any team. Brennan and Connor, thanks for the ride. Connor, we have some more to go. Brennan, good luck at West Point. Jeff, Kevin and Chris, I was very proud to see you in this game last night. The "Blitz" has come a long way. We have some returning, so maybe we can do it again. Sam, We got another season starting Monday, see you out there. Matt Green, There wasn't a better keeper in the State this year. You came up big so many times, we would not have made it this far without you. Matt, Clint & Ryan, what an outstanding job you did with this bunch of "misfit brothers". They came together back in December and stayed that way all year. This was the most awesome soccer season I have been a part of, I can't wait until next year. I was so proud of Logan last night. He played his best game of the year. Goat, nice to see you again, and it was nice to meet Timmerman. Congrats again to both teams. Last night was memorable.
