Haynes, missng their two seniors and best players, controled the game against a very young OCS team that gave good account despite having only 11 players. Numerous through ball breakaways only produced one goal for Haynes. Ocs has some players missing because of football including star frontliner.
For Haynes, the meat of group is this morning, Westminster at 8:00, Menard at 11:45. They tied 0-0 last night. Westminster had the better of play against Menard for most of their game, forcing the Menard keeper to make several great saves. He looks overweight, wears a tee shirt but can flat extend horizontally. Westminster lacked finishing skills yesterday.
Country Day generally had the better of play, but could not finish, hitting several shots directly into the keeper from close range. I could not tell exactly what CDs game plan was.

ESA's head coach isn't there for starters, I'm in baton rouge taking the national youth license. I left the team with my assistant who told me we just came out flat against a team who we beat last week pretty handily. Erath came out and put it on us and we had to play from behind the rest of the match. I heard we had some really good looks but couldn't put them away. Just boy's being boy's and getting a little to cocky. Got two tough games today and I'm hoping the team rally's back...
I hate not being there!

Haynes gave up a confused goal with 1 min to play, to put Westminster up 2-1, when a tie might have put Haynes through. Westminster controled the game in midfield with good passing ball control. They hit the bar in the first half, and drew a good save in the second, but lacked finishing. Haynes had several serious threats on counterattacks.
Being an ex-ref, I almost never complain, simply comment. At the end of the game a few seconds left, a through pass went under the foot of the right defense for Westminster, directly to the Haynes winger running open into the right top of the box with his center forward wide open to receive a pass ... ref blew his whistle, end of game.
One player asked about the stoppage and the ref replied, "I'll blow the whistle if the ball is going in the net..." It didn't cost Haynes the game, the issue was settled one minute earlier ... its just that to my mind, soccer convention was more or less violated.
Westminster deserved their win.

Parkway - 0 St. Louis - 2
First goal was mid second half was a mysterious PK that was never fully explained. Second goal came with less than 2 minutes to go off of a bad clearance. Would like to see an 80 minute game with these two teams.
