Congrats to St Pauls they were clearly head and shoulders better. Great run by King. Second year in a row though I have to say the St Paul kids could be a little better behaved nobody was throwing anything this year into the other group but I thought the cheering USA was tasteless. I was very impressed with the St Paul players the skill and speed particularly up top was a complete mismatch. The kid in the back with the big throw in is also a very nice defender and a real weapon on throw ins. Clearly no 1 this year. Mandeville club nice work

After watching the finals this year and reflecting, I think it is time these games were played on a full sized soccer field. The 63 yd. wide field combined with the turf causes the game to become pinball to some extent. No chance for sustained buildup, the ball runs out of bounds. Turf gives traction so all those players in the narrow space are moving faster ... multiple defenders converging with little space to pass to. Only at EJ is the turf so new it stands up and resists the ball some... but even there the carom effect is noticeable.
A nice, 75 yd. wide grass field would make the games much more enjoyable, and showcase soccer skills a lot more.

Just got in and read some of this from all you threaders... Will respond tomorrow or after I get back from aspen, but thought St Paul s second half was some of the best/prettiest high school soccer I have seen in my 20 years as varsity coach. Peace

Be good Catholics? Just be good humans... I seem to remember a HUGE debate over SPS / Acadiana finals match in SPS tournament where SPS made several accusations about the 20 AHS parents being rude and offensive. Glad the truth finally comes to light! It always does! I'm done now! Back to soccer !

SPS roster is comprised of players from 6 clubs, i was told. The 3 goals were scoref by CFJ players.

6 of the boys who played significant minutes last night have played together at Cysa since 6 yrs old . Most of the team is split up between MSC/Cysa/Gulfport/Chicago Fire and madisonville. Grace king has an excellent team but St.Pauls totally dominated this game. The true difference was the speed of the back line and the play of the midfield . There was no where for Grace King to play the ball. Of the boys who played last night we graduate just 5 boys so I am just hoping to see my son back there next year.

Congratulations to both teams for a great season! IMO, after last night, there's no question who the best team and the best district in the state. I also believe St Paul's would have dominated even more if this game would have been played in their home turf. I have seen them play even better than last night throughout their season. Give a lot of credit for GK's gutsy performance to get to the finals but I also believe it could have been anyone in the top 10 playing last night. No sour grapes here, just making an observation of how competitive the top 10 was this year.

Chants of USA and this. It's these small things that aren't necessary. Specially if you're are the winner you shouldn't have a reason to act out. Private schools may have the money, but don't have the manners. imageshack.com/a/img541/2522/d0vp.jpg

How do I upload a picture of SPS players holding the championship trophy with a caption reading "Grace King, more like king of losing"?

No need to do that. It's already been linked.
What good is it to revel in another's unsportsmanslike behavior?
Let's celebrate two great seasons by St. Paul's and Grace King in a positive way. Anyone have some pictures of Grace King's fans? Saw what looked like part of their band in attendance playing the drums. Wish I could have been there.
Hate gets spread a lot more easily than love and respect. All it takes is one or two bad apples on one side to say or do something to make lots of people on the opposing side do things they otherwise wouldn't. It's easy to get caught up in demonizing the opposition; much harder to restrain oneself and see the other side as people just as yourself. Let's try to stay positive and not dwell on the negative. That's not to say we shouldn't condemn bad behavior, but I'm sure there was lots of good to be seen out there too.

Private schools may have the money, but don't have the manners. imageshack.com/a/img541/2522/d0vp.jpgDisgraceful. Lost in this is all of the chanting of something much worse that can't even be repeated on the board that was being done by the GK fans whenever a SPS played was fouled hard and went down. So, because "USA, USA" is in English, it's more disgraceful?!? Calling kids another name for the female genitalia because he was injured by a late challenge is just as bad, if not worse... I'm not defending the chants, but this is sport... Fans across the world are gonna do what they can to try and affect the other team. It happens at every level from hs on. And to focus only on one side's behavior is incorrect. Actually, to focus on anything but the game is ridiculous. But the picture is pretty awful. Hopefully, the caption was made by someone else and not one of the SPS kids.

How do I upload a picture of SPS players holding the championship trophy with a caption reading "Grace King, more like king of losing"? It actually was a post on social media. Not sure if you're saying I edited the photo? I did edit it, but not in a bad way that I think you're getting at. imageshack.com/a/img69/158/21ms.jpg

Mandeville club nice work I wish everyone would stop commenting on the fans & focus back on the match. Hard fought, fairly clean, & fast paced. Has any complaining about the fans ever been to w REAL, PROFESSIONAL MATCH? Fans are fans. They do what they want. Should have NO bearing on what went down on the pitch! The players are what mattered! Not someone waving an Egyptian flag, chanting USA, cursing in Spanish (OH YEAH, ALL OF THAT HAPPENED)! And was anyone offended by the National Anthem? We do live in the USA. Get over it! Back to the main topic; Both teams had a great season!

Congratulations to Grace King High School, players, coaching staff and fans! Proved their doubters wrong for an 8 seed to advance to the D1 State Championship! Good sign the state of Louisiana soccer is healthy and growing. Hope to see you at the Saint Paul's 2014 invitational.
As for the Champion Saint Paul's Wolves - proud to be part of this team, school and community. Thank you to all the seniors for their leadership and commitment to excellence - served as outstanding examples to the underclassman. Fine young men with bright futures!
Rise Up, O Men of God!

I personally thought this game was never even somewhat close. SPS was obviously the better team. Two great goals by number 7 and another great finish from Robinson. As for the chants, I have heard them chant USA at other games so I'm not sure that's as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. It's just kids being kids. Congrats to both on a great season but more importantly the St Paul's Wolves on a dominating performance.
