No need to do that. It's already been linked. What good is it to revel in another's unsportsmanslike behavior? Let's celebrate two great seasons by St. Paul's and Grace King in a positive way. Anyone have some pictures of Grace King's fans? Saw what looked like part of their band in attendance playing the drums. Wish I could have been there. Hate gets spread a lot more easily than love and respect. All it takes is one or two bad apples on one side to say or do something to make lots of people on the opposing side do things they otherwise wouldn't. It's easy to get caught up in demonizing the opposition; much harder to restrain oneself and see the other side as people just as yourself. Let's try to stay positive and not dwell on the negative. That's not to say we shouldn't condemn bad behavior, but I'm sure there was lots of good to be seen out there too. A big FYI to ALL of you, the verbiage attached to the picture was added by someone that does NOT play on the team. It clearly is tasteless and it's being handled. However, before people start spouting garbage about the SPS team, get your facts straight. The players would never condone such behavior and I assure you had no clue that was happening. It's unfortunate that the actions of one or more, other than those players on the field, may take away from the brotherhood and success this team should be allowed to revel in.

Chants of USA and this. It's these small things that aren't necessary. Specially if you're are the winner you shouldn't have a reason to act out. Private schools may have the money, but don't have the manners. imageshack.com/a/img541/2522/d0vp.jpgAny reason to take away from the victory! You can't control what kids do. The players always show respect to their opponents. I'm not trying to take away from their victory. I'm just saying that it was a bit of a overkill with that. I mean you won, leave it at that. St. Paul's played great and were clearly the best.

It's a shame most of this year's finals have been followed by keyboard warriors BSing back and forth on here.

Congrats to St Pauls they were clearly head and shoulders better. Great run by King. Second year in a row though I have to say the St Paul kids could be a little better behaved nobody was throwing anything this year into the other group but I thought the cheering USA was tasteless. I was very impressed with the St Paul players the skill and speed particularly up top was a complete mismatch. The kid in the back with the big throw in is also a very nice defender and a real weapon on throw ins. Clearly no 1 this year. Mandeville club nice work I wish everyone would stop commenting on the fans & focus back on the match. Hard fought, fairly clean, & fast paced. Has any complaining about the fans ever been to w REAL, PROFESSIONAL MATCH? Fans are fans. They do what they want. Should have NO bearing on what went down on the pitch! The players are what mattered! Not someone waving an Egyptian flag, chanting USA, cursing in Spanish (OH YEAH, ALL OF THAT HAPPENED)! And was anyone offended by the National Anthem? We do live in the USA. Get over it! Back to the main topic; Both teams had a great season! And yet you just brought up a flag and people cursing in spanish way to put the focus back on the match. I thought I was very clear I thought St Paul played brilliantly I still thought that behavior though was poor and if it ignored then it is accepted and it shouldn't be. Great year by both teams game was a little boring because of the way St Pauls dominated very impressed all the way around. Also you could see the good play that GK must have had all year but ST Pauls quickly took them out of it. Really impressive win.

Congrats to both teams on their excellent seasons
Great job by both coaches and congrats to Coach Moser for winning another championship.
To the wolves seniors, your leadership and guidance were the driving force in the run to the title. You will be missed next year.
And special kudos to Cam Robinson - a great player and a great leader - good luck at Furman.

Just like Grace King coach said, to loose a final, you have to be in one. They did extend their season by one month making a historical playoff run. But they wont be out of the map next year. They are loosing only 4 seniors, the rest of the starters were sophomores and 3 of their first choice subs are 10Th graders as well. Their future looks bright. ST Pauls had a big advantage, they were bigger and older. Being 2-3 years older at this level means: more experience, quick thinking, endurance, strength, sharper reflexes and much more. And thats what it was showed last night. Congratulations ST Pauls on being the best team in the state, and wining the long waited state championship. And to Grace King for making and impressive run to the state. There are 30 more teams that made they playoffs, that will like to be in your shoes right now. Keep your heads up and i will be looking forward for next years King'S soccer season.

Jeremy, Oscar, Jose, Hisham, and Nestor. They were basically the backbone of the team, while the rest were role players. Like you said though, Grace King will not be under the radar these next two years.

Feb 23, 2014 at 9:16pm Scott Crawford, passion and 1 more like this.

I saw a roster on Facebook that listed their home countries. Here it is in summary. For some players, they showed 2 countries so I gave 0.5 to each of the 2.
Honduras (10.5) USA (3) Bosnia (3) Nicaragua (1.5) Guatemala (1.5) Mexico (1) Egypt (1) China (1) Cuba (0.5)
I love the mixture!
We can all respect other cultures. We can all admire well played soccer. However, when a series of posts occur regarding "tasteless" behavior, a modicum of restraint should be used. It was not the students chanting who posted the nationality information above, but by p_malinich. Thus when the comment is made, we are all Americans, it might be considered a stretch. Those who were at the game and decried the USA chant didn't seem to mind the vulgar name calling used by the supporters of Grace King. Pointing out others problems while ignoring your own only leads to people recognizing hypocrisy. Not a single one of you had the decency to call it "classless", thus your silence means you find it acceptable. When a poster pointed this out the only response was to say,
"And yet you just brought up a flag and people cursing in spanish way to put the focus back on the match. I thought I was very clear I thought St Paul played brilliantly I still thought that behavior though was poor and if it ignored then it is accepted and it shouldn't be".
I'll reiterate your sentiment, but with a caveat, ALL instances of poor behavior should not be tolerated, not just those from one team. Soccer is not about the fans, nor their chants. It is about athletes giving it their best on the pitch. Whoever first posted the USA chants being unacceptable is the one who turned this thread into something other than about the boys and the championship game. Next time, please don't let any hurt feelings you may get cause you to post how upset you feel, instead just focus on the game and relish in being able to be there.
I would like to congratulate all the players for a wonderful championship game. The Grace King players handled themselves with class. Hopefully they can continue their success in the coming seasons. St. Paul's played with focus and determination. Their team cohesiveness was quite apparent. congratulations on a job well done.

Get your facts straight before posting. The boy who scored the two goals does play at CFJ as do several other players on the SPS team, but only since this past August. They played for Mandeville Soccer Club for the previous 8 years. Cam is a class product of the CFJ system.

St Paul's also has about five paid coaches and closer to 100 than 50 players in their program. Their classless fans who chanted USA have an amazing amount of patriotism. I am sure our Argentinian Pope would have appreciated it.

I expect King to give the AR on their offensive side an excellent cardio workout tonight. Maybe not...

Sounds like excuses to me. Just go back to supporting your alma mater for an amazing playoff run, rather than bashing the school that ended it. The private schools will always be the dominant force in hs soccer. Sucks, as I teach public school, but 'tis the way 'tis... Who's classy here?!? Taking a shot at the Catholic Church?? C'mon...

Don't throw rocks from your glass house. The vulgar chant from the Grace King supporters should be considered much more "classless" and "disgusting" than a chant of USA. SPS did the same chant against Jesuit, Capt. Shreve and a few other games during the season. So why is it now a problem? If your not condemning both chants, then don't say anything at all. The hypocrisy from your post is deafening.
As to your assertion of an immoral relationship between the students and the "Brothers" at St. Paul's is absurd. To be upset at some students chanting something you perceive to be disrespectful is one thing, but to then jump to the correlation of lascivious behavior between students and Brothers is nothing less than appalling. The only thing in your arsenal seems to be cheap salacious statements.

My assertion was stupid at best but to defend the USA chant is asinine. A lot of first generation AMERICANS of Hispanic origin were at that game and you know darn well it was as offensive to them as my stupid assertion.

Quite honestly, as someone who attended a Christian Brothers school and a public school, I expect MORE from the Catholic School. Equivocation is always the weakest excuse for improper behavior.
I would add that I know at least four folks who were not a fan of either school but attended the game out of love for the game. I include the writer for nola.com, Joseph Halm. And they all commented on the USA cheer with nary a note of the GK fans.
