Westgate beats Barbe 1-0. Great possession game by Westgate. The possession was about 80%-20% in favor of Westgate. Westgate outshot Barbe 25-7. The score could have been worse, but hats off to Cody Gardner(goalie) for holding down the fort. Barbe's defense also stepped up and stopped some brilliant attacks by Wesgtate. Westgate improves to 2-2 in district play, while Barbe drops to 0-5. GREAT game played by the Westgate Tigers overall, offense, defense, and Brandon Stevens(goalie- Westgate)!! ;D

I think (but i hope not) this could be the begining of a frustrating run for comeaux. The finishing has got to be their in order for them to win games.

Teurlings 4 WCA 0
Teurlings has good speed and hustled. WCA with new goalie and injury to key defender never got it going.

Pineville 6 - St. Frederick 4
I went to this game. Field was terrible....muddy as could be.
The officiating was pretty well done.
The word in the stands was that St. Frederick was missing their "Senior Co-Captain/ 3 year All-District Sweeper" due to a broken something. Sounded like a significant disadvantage missing that guy and having to move their always rock solid defense around. The score reflects and confirms that big time.
Other scouting ---> Pineville was weak on defense and midfield...very. 4 of the 9 shots that were on net from SFHS went in. Plus SF was shooting all day long but not puttin em on net...finishing is their biggest problem (midfield transition was weak too). Pineville had a few talented offensive players but SF dominated possession.
Fun game to watch...could have gone either way. I hope these two teams play again when both are at full strength.

for the cro n sulphur game..
Cro controlled the game the whole 80 minutes...Sulphur had a few chances and also had a pk, but the keep for Cro (Jude Austin) made a great save. Other than that, the score was 4-0 at half. And what i mean by controlled the game, i meant that by the only chances sulphur had were when they kicked the ball up from the back and got it to a foward.
First goal was off of a header made by a Sulphur defender and Ray B. one touched it in. The Second goal was off a cross from Corey Hebert to Daniel Beniot who tucked it side netting. The third goal was off a pk by Julius Austin. The 4th goal was a shot from the outside by Chris Leger. The 5th goal was made by a one on one and Daniel B. shot it right over the keep. And the 6th goal was made by Julius Austin when the ball was bobbled by sulphurs defenders and Julius tucked it away.
Scorers were: T-Ray Boudreaux - 1 Daniel Bentoit - 2 Chris Leger - 1 Julius Austin - 2

Pineville 6 St Frederick 4
Very muddy field (about 5" of muddy soft grass)... Pineville is adjusting their line up and some first year players are having to adjust to varsity play...
Defense looked weak but the keeper played better than he did at the Sulphur Tournament...
St Frederick is an exciting team with alot of speed up front...the game could have been 4-0 St Frederick at the beginning of the game...
Good Game...

With regard to the Comeaux vs New Iberia game. I was at that game and trust me Comeaux DID NOT dominate this game. When they did get shots they were week and usually wide. N.I.'s shots were much sharper but there goallie got them. In overtime Sam Aires, (freshman) scored on a long shot that sailed over the goalie and in. Comeaux got our goalie to come out of of the box and got a shot that was surely going to score when out of nowhere came Chris Boling. Chris came flying in, slid and blocked the shot just as it was going in. Best block I ever saw. Anyway, it was a great game withe both sides playing there hearts out. Like I said N.I. played the better game. Simple as that.

I find it hard to believe that Comeaux didn't control this game. NISH has some quality players but they don't seem to play well together. Comeaux gets the ball up top and plays a very direct game. Of corse nish's attack is everything but possesion oriented so i guess i could see how the ball would bounce back in forth. One thing i do give to NISH is they play hard all the time. they play good team defense but when your offense is lacking its tough for a defense to stop someone for 80 mins. NISH like i said will be the spoilers of district 3. Look for them to pull of a few more upsets.
