WAKE UP AMERICA….. WE RIDE AGAIN! BELIEF! Alexi Lalas I used to not like this guy but he has definitely changed my mind. Lalas and Balboa were an awesome central pairing in 1994. They made the most improvement in any World Cup team. They took a poor team and made them competitive.

1-0 Orange against the run of play after a sloppy turnover by the USA. Our players do not look to have their legs under them. They made that look too easy on the counter. Now they willl sit back. We needed to convert that 3rd minute shot on goal by Pulisic.

Pulisic with another poor cross. Earlier was poor on a corner. Orange counter easily again before we disrupt it. USA need to respond and are trying, but when you give these good countries a leg up, they can kill the game. Adams just went down after a knock, which reminds me of the 1994 Brazil take out of Ramos. Adams gets back up and should be fine, but I would not be surprised if Holland pull something similar on Adams.

Every mistake the USA makes is leading to Holland chances. We do not seem to be on our game. We are dribbling into Dutch feet and our passing is off.

The cleaner you play the more confident you are and it is evident watching this game, the Netherlands are the more confident team.
USA are chasing one touches and getting caught flat footed. They are not moving- Netherlands shutting the midfield down.

Heavy feet, heavy passes. Luis van Gaul an the Dutch are showing a clinical game in that they are just sitting back, waiting on USA mistakes and capitalizing. We do not look even close to sniffing out a goal. Berhalter better come up with a change in halftime if we are fortunate to get to half only a goal down.

Weah and Dest are getting it going, but again wasted chance. Then Weah gets a good long range shot on goal, our 2nd of the game.

Weak. Berhalter played too any regulars who do not have the legs. We saw it in qualifying over and over and over. Berhalter and the USA coaching staff must have not saw it because they continue to rely on starting 11, game after game after game after game. World Cup winning sides never rely just not their starters for 7 games. You have to use your bench wisely.
Oh well. We are back to where we were in 2014 and 2010. Our greatest team ever? To do that, Berhalter needs to pull a rabbit out of his hat and produce some magic.

Replay show Adams too relaxed getting back on that first goal. Again, no legs.

Reyna coming in supposedly next half.
2 goals in 315 World Cup minutes. We better start turning that stat around or it’s bye bye Qatar.

van Gaal coming with a good plan…what has the US done well in the past games? They win and move the ball through the midfield….Netherlands shutting it down and forcing turnovers. Making us play one touch, forcing the defense to try and play to a tightened midfield and causing poor play….
Reyna is in….let’s see if he can help with movement.

Ream, Pulisic, and McKennie all get chances in the first eight minutes.

Aaronson on for McKennie, Wright on for Weah

Wright had a easy open goal and goes too wide. Corner ball moves around and the USA get a goal from Wright touch. LOOK OUT we got life.
2-1 77th

And Holland put the choke hold on the USA. Again, too much ball watching on defense. Back post open for easy Dutch goal. 3-1.

Final 3-1.
Again, no player with two goals scored. 3 goals scored in 360 minutes. 4 given up.
I mention this goals scored by a player every World Cup yet alot of people ( not in laprep) said this was crazy since this was supposed to be our best team ever.
Berhalter should resign soon. 37 wins 12 draws 11 losses career results as USA coach. Got us some major trophies, but unable to make it beyond where we were in 2014 before Klinsmann set the program back. I am appreciative that he got us back to where we were, but we can go further with the right coach and if we can generate an attack. CONCACAF needs to work on it’s power as they performed poorly this World Cup.
