Daddyo...I take offense to your statement that "Ascension Parish has nothing like that yet"
Dutchtown beat Vandy this year....at Vandy...while compaling a 24-4-2 record...with two of those losses coming to State semifinalist in 5A (if you include Laffy). The talent is here in Ascension Parish...some of it even on EA's team...they're just young. Vandy was just a better team.
Perhaps the difference is the NUMBER of talented players. Perhaps that is what you meant. But the talent is here...if we took the best players from all three schools...we'd contend for a STATE title every year, but we are public schools so that's not an option.

as a player you can do nothing about the fans. i mean thats pretty out of hand but E.A.s fans arent right on the field or anything so that shouldnt be too much of a problem.

chill, you are correct, but the athletes who play the game should allowed to show emotion, especially in a title game. They are the ones who sacrificed and practiced and missed parties and dances to play the sport they love. So ,if a player scores and takes his shirt off,so what, let hom enjoy the moment. Its not taunting its celebrating

i mean yall just won 8-0 in the state championship game. it seems that yall knew the game was in hand why was there a big point to celebrate. havent yall won the last 3 years in a row or something? so if thats true winning shouldnt be that big of a deal to yall. i mean just congradulate E.A. and say it was a good game and keep all the other stuff to yourselves. there is no point in bashing or rubbing stuff in.

Pitch, you should not take offense, purely a wording choice there. Agreed, numbers are likely the key. Can you imagine the girls or boys team that could be compiled from STA/EA/DTHS?? It would be scary! Liked it tonight that no flares were thrown:)
Congrats to Vandy, very impressive stuff and definite proof of why they are the biggest dogs in 4A. A very well coached unit too.
EA boys, especially the seniors, hold those heads up high. What a fantastic run and do remember the beauty of this sport, almost over before it began. 90 seconds on the clock left against Opelousas. I hope you enjoyed the groundbreaking ride. Fantastic night and a fantastic crowd. This sport is on the up and up.

the thrill of the win should always be a reason to celebrate, first win or tenth win makes no difference, should always be sweet and a reason to celebrate."boys will be boys"

i would imigine its a different feeling every year as well.. New seniors, new reason that keep you gone, new you. Everybody changes every year and its different to win as an upperclassman then a lowerclassman

well it depends on how you win the game. i won state when i played on a good rec team 3 years ago and it was good but we won 5-0 and it didnt feel as good. and then last year i won state on a team in mpsa and it felt great because the game was close and exciting. maybe im just different

oldjock....you should kno that it is now an automatic red for celebrating....my guess is he only got a yellow because it was the title (im not sure why tho). this rule was forcefully told to me at our very first game by the refs. his celebrating was uncalled for in my opinion.... i didn't mind the dog pile AS much as the guy takin his shirt off but it all seemed uncalled for.

Basketball players hang on the rim, baseball players watch as their well hit ball goes over the fence for a homer, football players spike the ball, they also taunt after making a good play( even when down 2,3, or more touchdowns. Its celebrating. Society follows and its athletes.Im not saying it is right or wrong only that I understand it

Did the player who pulled his shirt off get carded? Isn't that considered excessive celebration?

it doesn't really explain to well what he did, but he pulled his shirt up and kissed the badge on it and went insane in cheering over the goal that his TEAMMATE scored

its supposed to be a straight red. Can you quote the rule for this? A straight red seems a little...dare I say, excessive, for punishing an excessive celebration.

i was just told before games that a red would be given for excessive celebration or taunting and taking off your shirt counts as both. the refs were supposed to crack down on the sportsmenship part this year. which is why there were alot of cards given for this sort of stuff
