Yeah, basically Will Schmidt dominated the entire game for the Wolves. Rummel just didn't have any answers for his athletic ability.

rummel dominated possesion for about the first 10 mins and st pauls got a quick ounter to go up 1-0. SPS scored about 2 mins into the 2nd half when guy guinot scored on a rebound off frank breeden's shot. rummel made it 2-1 midway through the 2nd half off of a corner. SPS got the 3rd goal when michael pellissier headed a goal kick through to guinot and he volleyd it in.
the ref called a very tight game. almost all of rummels offense came off of free kicks and throwins. i think the better team came out on top

So, SPS finally plays a team in the top ten, and it only took to the quarterfinals; it was a long time coming but they held up well. SPS had the superior energy from the start, and I was left to wonder how Rummel ended up ranked in the top ten this year. They played a lot of kickball out there, and never really generated a built-up attack. Were there some injuries before this game for Rummel, seemed like a lot of underclassmen were in there? And I feel sorry for whoever's dad was ranting from the stands most of the game; that had to wear you down after a while.
SPS will have to get better at handling the ball if they want to gain the big prize, in my opinion. They played with speed and desire, and credit to them, but they, too, tended to boot the ball up the field and then hope to catch it. As they showed against their two losses against Fontainebleau this year, they remain susceptible to a ball control attack that methodically moves it up the field.
Still, since they are the last north shore team left, we're rooting for them to do the deed next game...

Am I wrong to assume that Catholic-B.R. will host St. Paul's if they beat Acadiana?
How does that home-field formula work again?
And would Acadiana host St. Paul's?
Thanks.

P.S. - Please expound more on the details of the SPS/Rummel game, especially on the play of the Schmidt guy y'all seem to be praising. I didn't see much posted but the brief recap of the goals scored.

Admittedly true, and it was a flaw on their attack that cost them more than once, but man for man they displayed better ball control getting in position to make that pass than most, starting all the way back to the defense.

schmidt plays stopper on st pauls. he just kinda runs around wins headers, plays solid d, and finds feet when he gets the ball.

Yes, St. Paul's will play the semi-final at either Acadiana or Catholic because both Catholic and Acadiana are higher in the bracket. Since this is an odd-numbered year, if both teams just hosted their respective games, the team that appears higher on the bracket receives home field.

This game was a hard fought PHYSICAL game by both teams. Rummel was dominating the first half and looked like they were the better team. They were playing better possession and had the ball on their half probably 3/4 of the first half. Rummel just could not not finds way to score, they seem to have problems with that lately. The second half Rummel also had several close opportunities, especially with headers. St Paul's seemed to be able to finish, and Rummel did not. Also, one of Rummel's best players did not play because of disciplinary problems. He had sat out this entire game. Watching this game, I never saw a kid (Schmidt or whomever) for St. Paul's that was amazing. They all seemed equal. No one stood out to me. I also hope that player from Rummel who got injured at the end of the game is alright. Good Luck Wolves!

As a fan of soccer in general, I have read with interest the various post/game summaries posted to this message board. While this is a no doubt a great soccer forum, it is often difficult to get a true read on the games played as the posts are generally made with such obvious bias either to a program/school/individual player. While clearly impossible, it would be great to get a game summary without excuses ("one of Rummel's best players did not play") and without promotional efforts in favor of individual players ("schmidt was amazing"). What was amazing in this game was a team effort on the part of St. Pauls, a team that struggled against top 10 teams all year and who appears to have put it together when it counts. I wish them luck going forward in the playoffs. Further, if we are talking about amazing individual play who was no. 16 who looked to have had a part of all three of the goals scored for St. Paul? That kid together with no. 7 who I think is Breeden and no. 17 seemed to have the Rummel defense on their heels most of the game.

Also, another think I noticed is that Rummel only played 3 in the back while St. Pauls had either 4 or 5 back at all times.
