Nov 29 and 30. Mandeville plays Central Lafourche, West Jeff and Baton Rouge. Any info about those schools? What position does William Wilson, all-state last year from CL play?

HL Bougoiusse (sp) is in it and I imagine Covington also. Is there a website? What about the St. Paul's tournament?

Mandeville won this tournament last year, coming into the Qfinals as a wild card. Our game vs Central Lafouche will be our first scrimmage/jamboree/match of the season. It will be tough for MHS to pull it out again this year.

Looks like 3 all-state players to watch: Wil Wilson from Central Lafourche, Kyle Shuford from Holy Cross, and Jeremy Laque from Hahnville. Should be some good games. We'll see how the 6 teams from the Northshore make out in the tournament.

According to the LHSAA Top Ten Poll on 2/1/02, Covington was #6 at that time, and Central Lafouche was #9. also, Mandeville #10, Grace King #11 and Northshore #15. In the second classification, Ben Franklin was # 3. Of these 6 ranked teams, Poll Man picks only Covington, Central Lafouche, Grace King and Ben Franklin to play next Saturday's games. Mandeville and Northshore will be eliminated early on. Interesting.

They are not the same. Piney Woods starts today. Grace King vs. HLBougeois looks to be the best match at 5:30.

Well, i think mandy will win that bracket easily, there toughest will prolly be Cl yes, but CL is not as strong as they were last year i have heard, they are hurting in offense big time, they lost their offensive mvp of the district , he scored most all the goals, there is still willson though, soo look for him, but other than that, CL lost 2 other very important positionslast year, soo they are not st strong as every one thinks, you will see as the year goes on

Baton Rouge won easily 5-0 over one of the Jeffersons. HLB looked sharp with a 6-0 or 7-0 win over Grace King. Watch for #22 of HLB with the Rinaldo haircut. Hammond lost 1-0 to Pope John Paul. Fontainebleau ran amok over Independence - it was 3-0 after 10 minutes. Indy only had 2 subs. Could have played all 13 and it wouldn't have mattered. Pontchatoula and St Charles Cath played an even match. Pontchatoula has a football coach, screams every minute at his players. That's what practice is for. SCC has a Big Boy in the middle. Thought he must be a keeper when he got off the bus. We'll see how good Covington is when they play Hahnville at 10 am on Friday.

In response to Guest, Central Lafourche has 6 starters returning, including Will. Plus some players who contributed off the bench. We will know more today when CL plays Vandy. I think Mandeville only has 1 starter from last year who will play on Friday and a new coach. You gotta say that the 9th ranked team returning 6 starters will beat #10 with only 1 starter.

to LAprepSoccer for posting... please don't just rely on the message board for posting scores. If a tournament official, or someone else who is willing, will supply all of the scores, email me and I'll send you a format that will minimize my retyping...
Thanks to everyone who is sending in scores!!

Forgot to add-- Ben Franklin beat the other Jefferson (was it George?) 2-nil. My prediction, HLB is a team to watch. They will knock you down and run you over. If the sweeper misses the ball, he usually kicks the groin of the onrushing player. Ouch.

Northshore played well in loss to H. Cross and a tie to Ben Franklin. Hahnville played well, winning two matches but falling to Covington 2-1. Fontainebleau lost two close ones to Baton Rouge and Central Lafourche 1-0 and 2-0. Unfortunately, none of these three advanced. The best team in the tournament appears to be Mandeville. They have had 3 wins and haven't been scored upon. Covington and Ben Franklin also look strong. H.L. Bourgeois is the surprise team of the tournament. They have played well except for the second half against Covington. Central Lafourche has played well but was soundly beaten by Mandeville 3-0. Holy Cross has played strong defense and has been opotunistic on offense. All of these teams advanced. I don't know who plays who but I do know that all of the quarterfinals are at noon.
