ASH finally put it together for great game, and Pineville played poorly, but is capable of much better play. ASH's senior forward Heather Sherrill appears to be back from illness, with two nice goals, though she got a little winded. There were some beautiful assists, and hopefully ASH will keep it up. Any scoop on the Bolton-Tioga game? I hear the Injuns were brutal as always. ASH plays Bolton Thursday night at 5:30.

As expected, Tioga played a very physical game. They played a lot of long balls on the outside, to the forwards. Tioga scored about midway of the first half with a kick that should have been easily handled by the keeper but wasn't. However, Bolton's keeper really fired up and came out of the goal fearlessly to make several bold saves. Bolton's defense was able to hold Tioga at bay, and with less than 15 minutes left in the second half, a few changes on the field yielded a header by katie cook, and a header by Melissa Shaw on the corner kick from Heather Lamartiniere.

Assuming Bolton's keeper is the same as last year, she does very well, and will improve annually. She'll do better than Pineville's keeper, who is a basketball player that just switched to soccer. I enjoy watching Katie Cook play, except for listening to her dad shout "Goooooooooo Boooooool-ton". My daughters played with many of the Bolton girls in rec growing up. It's a great rivalry, and more friendly than the ASH-Pineville rivalry. Good luck Thursday. I'll be in the stands.

other ASH girls who scored in the 6-0 match against Pineville on 1/3/05 include Sara Bindursky [1], Kalyla Johnson [1] and ASH's other first team all district forward, Ashton Engelsman, who also scored two and had an assist for Heather Sherrill.

ASH over Bolton last night, 1-0. Lone goal scored in second half by Rachel Miller on a shot over the top. Bolton's goalie, Laura Lee was under attack all night and did an excellent job. ASH was much slower than Monday. Any word on the Tioga-Pineville game?

ASH over Tioga, 6-0, last night. Rachel Miller had a hat trick in the first half, the first goal on a penalty kick when Ashton Engelsman was taken down in the box. Ashton had the next two goals, one in the first half(4-0 at half), then another in the second half on a breakaway, then sent a perfect cross the Heather Sherrill who put it in with the header for ASH's final score. Well played by both sides, and Tioga is greatly improved with the new coach, who also works with the girls in Rec. Pineville beat Bolton 3-0, but I have no details. Surely Mark and Derek, heads of our rec association and architects of soccer improvement in Cenla, will have the detailed summary on their crossroads soccer website.

Bolton 4 Tioga 2
Looks as if Bolton is finally on the attack! Hey Mung what's the scoop on the ASH Pineville game?
Jaclyn Matthews scored within the first 5 minutes of play, for Bolton. They went on to score 3 more goals in the first Half. Katie Cook with 1 goal, Melissa Shaw with 2, and Heather Lamartiniere assisting on 3 of the 4 goals. Tioga finally answered with a goal, late in the first half, by Morgan Burlew. Tioga's Morgan Burlew scored again, late in the second half, after Bolton made a few substituions.

ASH over Pineville 4-2. Rachel Miller had the first goal, and Pineville answered with a PK for an ASH handball in the box. Lindsay Pharis got the second goal on a corner for ASH, followed by a chip shot over the goalie's head by CM Alex Engelsman. ASH up 3-1 at half. North wind picked up in the second half and Pineville got their second shot on a beautiful long high crossing shot from the right. Pineville looked like they might tie it up but ASH kept attacking and wore them down in the end. Rachel Miller got her second goal late in the second period, and Pineville's defense & goalie Jaclyn Tullos made some nifty saves around the goal in the final minutes.

ASH over Bolton 8-1. Hat tricks by Rachel Miller and Lindsay Pharis, and 2 by Heather Sherill. Bolton's lone goal on a nice left footed shot by Katie Cook. ASH goalie did very well in the net, while Bolton goalie had an off night. Pineville v. Tioga score unknown, but given history, it would be stunning if Tioga won a Dist game(they are improving though, and it may happen this year). Assumed dist records:
ASH 5-0 Pineville 3-2 Bolton 2-3 Tioga 0-5

Bolton 1, Pineville 4 Goal early in the game for Pville, Bolton looked as if it had answered but goal was disallowed. Later in first half Pineville scored another. Bolton made it 2-1 with a corner kick well placed by #22 Heather Lamartiniere and then "finished" by Erin Redman. The goal post proved to be the mvp, as shot after shot by Bolton hit the goal post. After an unfortunate 3rd goal by Pville, Bolton's defense deflated and field changes in the last five minutes only resulted in yet another unfortunate goal for pville. Unfortunate for Bolton I should say.
