This Saturday out at Burbank Soccer complex: St. Amant vs. St. Joe's. Should be a great game, and probably will decide 2nd place in the district. Top game in the district. Across town the battle for 4th place in district will take place as Dutchtown vs. Woodlawn. Any predictions? I'm going with St. Joe's over St. Amant And Dutchtown to edge Woodlawn.

It is unfortunate that both of these games are being played at the same time. Would like to see both. Woodlawn seems to have misplaced the map that leads to the back of the net. While Dutchtown seems to be on the rise, but still not able to overcome those above them in the standings. Look for a low scoring affair. Woodlawn needs to sneak a couple past Dutchtown keeper to keep slim hopes alive to make playoffs.

Wooldlawn would have to get threw the whole team to make it to the keeper, hopefully that wont be happening saturday.

Last check whichever team scores a goal in any game they generally have to go through the opposing teams entire 11 players. Woodlawn has been in a season long scoring drought except for their games with Central and Walker. Unless someone steps up on Saturday, WHS may have to hope for a scoreless draw.

After a scoreless first half, Dutchtown scored one goal to beat Woodlawn 1-0 at the Griffins field. Hard fought well played game.

Dutchtown out shot Woodlawn 36 - 4 for the game. That doesn't indicate the closeness of the game. Most of 1st half was played in the middle portion of the field, with Woodlawn having the first real opportunity only to have the ball driven directly to the DTHS Keeper. Catostrophe (Red Card for player or fatal head injury to Keper) nearly struck just past the 15 minute mark when #5 for Dutchtown came in studs up on the Keeper. GK got up shook it off and continued play a Ref waved off any penalty. Dutchtown had several chances later in the half including a shot from the right that went through a large group of legs and almost caught the WHS Keeper asleep. Just as the 1st half ended DHS hit another screamer that looked like it was going into the near post, that the GK once again appeared from the stands to save but was called a goalkick. Halftime score 0 - 0. Second half both teams came out a little weary, little injuries and illnesses for both sides slowed the pace of the game. 15 minutes into the second half a Woodlawn defender commited a foolish foul giving Dutchtown a free kick. The Ball was served into the area, GK made two stops , but a third got behind her and an alert #2, picked up what turned out to be the winning goal. The rest of the half left little to cheer about for either side. Woodlawn GK had to make saves on a couple of breakaways (due to poor/tired defending) and was called upon to tip a couple more over the bar. Woodlawn had trouble catching up to long ball hit into Dutchtown defensive third of the field, due once again to tired legs. While not a game played at a high speed it was a good game played by both sides with few fouls and lots of passes that did connect through the middle portion of the field, with both defenses styming all out attacks.

St. Joe's came out kind of flat in the first half and St. Amant made them pay for it in a big way. St. Joe's came out in the second half and played stronger, but a 3-0 lead at half in this league is hard for anyone to come back on.

I have seen all of the GKs in District, and I still remain extremely impressed with Valarie Split-log. She is a tremendous force in the goal for Woodlawn. With the open shots that Dutchtown was taking on her Saturday morning, if it were against some of the other goalkeepers, it could have been a 4 or 5 nothing game. Congrats to Valarie for a great season thus far.

With the absence of three more starters due to injury or illness, Woodlawn fielded 11 players and was able to defeat Walker 3-0 at Walker in a district match-up.

Though the quality of the game was not the same as that of Baton Rouge v Dutchtown. woodlawn/Walker game was very competitive, Walker with a very young team is making progress. Would like a few more details on BRHS v DTHS. Injuries always start to mount up this time of the season Woodlawn has been ravaged by them this week 4 starters out last night, two or three probably for the season (one Toe, one Ankle, and one both knees). Underclassmen have had to step in. Benson seems to be struggling with some injury problems as of late. Will that effect how far BRHS goes in the playoffs?

BRHS 1 Dutchtown 0 Sarah Benson, BRHS, played approximately 60-65 minutes, but is hobbled by an injury to her toes. Leanne ?, Dutchtown, did not play at all in the game. BRHS had a slight edge on shots 20 to 16. Dutchtown could have scored first down the center of the field when #5 got 1 on 1 with the BRHS goalie and fired a shot that the BRHS goalie snagged. 1st half saw more possession by BRHS, 2nd half so more possession by Dutchtown. Dutchtown had 3 golden opportunities to tie the game in the second half, but the goal post got some crucial saves for BRHS. At the closing whistle, BRHS appeared to score a goal, but the BRHS player was offsides, which the AR was signaling, and the center said the game was over prior to the shot. Dutchtown had an explosive kick from #3 that the BRHS goalie never had a chance at, but it caught the crossbar and slammed straight down and was eventually cleared by BRHS. Real good game where both teams started to show signs of fatigue in the late stages of the 2nd half.
