Based on current records within District.....I would agree.I believe there exisits the possibility of some changes from 2 through 7 and certainly BRHS is the team to beat.
Good Luck to Coach Winchell who takes his girls from SJA to compete in Lafayette tournament.

BRHS 7 Dutchtown 0
Score not really reflective of contest. 1st half ended 1-0 BRHS. Dutchtown missed on several opportunities. Dutchtown came out aggressive in 2nd half, but a counter attack goal by BRHS seem to take the air out of Dutchtown. BRHS did a good job of finishing them off in the last few minutes of the 2nd half to make the score what it was.

Soccerrouge, sure hope some others climb aboard this thread. Any one have details on St. Amant vs Central or how SJA fared in Lafayette tournament.
Dutchtown either knows how to get shut out or do a shut out. They hold Walker and Woodlawn scoreless but take it on the chin by 7-0 scores against St. Amant and BRHS.

Seems like consitency is plauging the Griffins. Or maybe the difference between the teams is a huge gap, with Walker/Woodlawn representing the bottom, Dutchtown in the middle, then BRHS and St Amant at the top.

I agree with your gap theory with a tweak. In Dist 4, you have the Top 3 ( STA, BRHS and SJA) In the middle you have DHS and WHS with Central and Walker bringing up the rear. Unless there are upsets, it will be DHS and WHS fighting for a wild card to reach playoffs. Since DHS beat WHS 2-0 in their first game.....the pressure will be on WHS to win the second. If anything DHS is underachieving with 11 select players on their team. They have excellent speed but thier defense seems suspect although they must have played well to be behind only by 1 at the half against BRHS.

manudown your Gap Theory is spot on. It's like two different divisions in one district. Walker, Central and Woodlawn (0-1 loss to St Joes) have improved, but were so far behind the 'Big Three' that it hardly shows. Dutchtown picked the wrong year to have to move up, If anything St Amant & St joes are deeper than last year, and BRHS just seems to continue to have high caliber players from year to year, whereas DHS lost two important cogs to the machine that ruled Div II-District 7, the past couple of years. When someone steps up to take their place and lead this team they could once again be formiable. WHS has the same problem if you wish to point to inconsistent play. Their scorers also seem to take a holiday, when facing the 'Lords (oops, Ladies) Of The District', two shots against ST Joes when earlier this season isn't going to win too many games. The one thing that has kept Woodlawn in games so far has been outstanding defending from the Back 5 - GK plus fullbacks. A couple of more shots per game on target and they may have defeated Dutchtown and St Joes in their first meeting. Do not get me wrong as Rivers2 said it's a 3-2-2 district for now, but the bottom dwellers are making some progress. Just not enough to dream of a playoff spot yet.

Good article, the only info missing from the Coach of BRHS is that the reason the Lady Bulldogs had trouble in the first half and the beginning of the second half with passing is the amount of pressure being applied by the Lady Griffins, which seem to go away after the 2nd goal in the second half.

Woodlawn's overall record is 2-3-1. Won't cahange until after the holidays, both games scheduled between 12/19 & 12/31 have be cancelled or moved to January. Give the players a break and the soccer junkies a chance to watch some other teams play.

The Advocate has a article this morning on the BRHS Vs. St. Amant game. St. Amant becomes the first team to score on BRHS this year. Sets up a pretty good upcoming contest between BRHS and St. Joe's, both undefeated in district. St. Amant's record is 2-2 in district with losses to St. Joe's and BRHS, and victories over Central and Dutchtown.

A little short on details of BRHS v St Amant. Heard one of the goals was an own goal when defender knoacked ball of Keeper's shin, Don't suppose that made for a happy GK. How much impact did the N.O. based players have on the game. Will they be atround for the rest of the year or arethey headed back after January 1?

Here's a link to the Advocate article soccerrouge mentioned www.2theadvocate.com/stories/122205/pre_brhs001.shtmlNice action shot... Baton Rouge High's Stephanie Henderson gets the ball and heads cross field as St Amant's Danielle Spell gives chase. Now that's diggin' for a ball!

I will continue to update the standings on page 1 of this thread toward the bottom. Does anyone know Central and Walker's overall records?

That's great, Soccerrouge. Good luck with a response on Central and Walker. Seems that their players and fans either do not respond or read La Prep.

Any details on the BRHS loss versus St. Thomas More yesterday? Was this a legitimate loss or were players missing. That BRHS can be beaten perhaps will give extra incentive for other District 4 teams that were seeking "kinks in the Armour"
Any word on St. Joe's vs Mt. Carmel game?
