Still looking for info from the south! Katrina has affected many schools down there. Some recently opened.
District 5 - Salmen is anyone else in your district playing this year other than Ben Franklin now that they are back in school?
District 6 - Vanderbilt is the power house. I hear EJ has been playing, but what about Cox and BC?
District 7 - Obvious from the coaches polls SSA is the clear leader. Last I saw, Cabrini was second over Blenk. Ursuline played & won first game against DLS.
Thanks D-1,2,4 for the updates. Yes, Mung, I have been keeping up with your updates on Div II D-2. I was trying to unify some info on one thread for Division II.

From looking at Ben Franklin's schedule (two games versus Salmen, one each against SSA and Newman), it must be only Salmen and Franklin in the district this year.

With the reversal of the Tioga vs. DeRidder game for Tioga and the win against Pineville last night Tioga is now 5-1 in Division II, District 2. ASH and Sam Houston play tomorrow morning.

By my calculation, there are 12 wild-card spots in the playoffs (there is no 3rd place team from Dist. 5), and the following teams to fill them: 4th and 5th place from districts 1, 2, 4, 7 4th place from district 3 (only 4 teams) That's 9 wild card teams, so there should be 3 first round byes. And soccerdad12, you guys are dist. 3, not dist. 5.

According to LHSAA there are no byes listed. Are there few than 32 teams plaing in Div II this year?

There will be byes because, pursuant to this year's rules, you have to be at least a 5th place team to make the playoffs, and because there aren't enough teams in Div. II that will finish in 3rd, 4th, and 5th places to fill all the wild card spots in the bracket. If some of the wild card-eligible teams fail to register with LHSAA (as has happened in the past), there will be even more byes.
This happened two years ago when Ben Franklin and St. Scholastica (prior year's finalists) were given 1st round byes.

FalconDad, how about this curve ball. District 5, with only two teams is meant to represent with a match-up of 5-3 v 3-2, will 3-2 get the bye?? tricky stuff this year.

I'm assuming that the 5-3 spot will go to a wild card. As I said, that leaves 3 more wild card spots than there are 5th-place-or-better teams. I am also assuming that if LHSAA follows its pattern from previous years, the 3 byes will go to what it considers the 3 strongest teams, or at least to 3 district winners. But there is no rule specifying who gets byes, so who knows?
