Obviously after the second touchdown and extra point someone had to end the carnage !

tigertail, is that a state rule or an opinion? I' looking for the official rule. I have never heard of one but is there a mercy rule in soccer? Should there be? I'm going to start a survey question on this tonight.

No, it's not a rule nor should it be. I think, in fact, that in these situations a lot has to be considered.
I've coached on both sides of these kinds of scores, so I know the frustrations of both sides. How much do the players losing really need to endure? How many goals does it take before you know your better?
In cases where I was on the winning side, my teams began focusing on the technical side of the game and team tactics rather than shooting the lights out. We also focus on playing our subs rather than keeping all starters on the field. If we do keep starters in, it's in different positions to shutdown counterattacks and distribute the ball.
When games get out of hand early, both teams know the eventual outcome. But in some cases, it seems that not delaying the inevitable seems fairer to the losing players rather than continuing to put the ball in the net over and over again.
Do I think LA high school soccer should have a mercy rule--no. Do I have a problem cutting a game short every once in a while--no. When I coached on the losing end I prayed silently the last 25-30 minutes of the game--just blow the whistle and get this over with.
Even though some of these happened in district contests, I think it's safe to say that all-district caliber players would have added to their stats by the 65th minute.

Terrebonne played as well as I have seen them play this year against Central. I was very impressed with their passing game early and it appears some of their young players are starting to step up their level of play. Dufresne is learning to control the game from the mid-field position and is making some good decissions with the ball. The backline may be as good as any in the state and played smart against Central but also matched Central's physical style. 1/2 way through district play (minus the rain out against Thibodaux) Terrebonne has not given up any goals and has scored 41 goals and what may be very significant to the team is that they have played half of these games without their leading goal producer in Champagne. I think the coaches made a good decission in keeping her out against Central and giving her more time to heal with a bye this Friday. Things are coming in to place for a good defense of their district title and hopefully a good run in the play-offs. Looking at the play-off brackets it looks like a possible second round match up at home against either Lafayette or Barbe if everything stays on path. I'll pay to see that one if it happens. Good luck Lady Tigers, keep up the hard work! That was a great display of teamwork Tuesday night!

The local newspaper is not keeping up with soccer very much this year so it's really hard to get this info. This year they only have 1 newpaper correspondant to follow soccer if I am not mistaken. He doesn't always cover an event every tuesday and friday though, he does other things too if I am not mistaken.

Courier said that coaches did not respond to repeated requests for schedules therefore they do not know when they play. Although they do seem to know some schedules because it makes the calander. I think they do not believe it is as exciting as basketball.
