Have the standings been updated? One team has played 6 dist. games and all other teams have played 5.

Who is the Slidell coach? Is it still Shannon and Tinker Gipson?

Okay for the people who want my analysis of the top 2 teams in District 5 here I go. (there might be 1 of you!!) Barbe went into the area last Friday and Saturday and here is my 2 cents worth...
Mandeville- One of the top two teams Barbe has faced this year. Strong up front with the 2 best forwards we have faced (Hannah and Rachel) with great speed. Mandeville has a great shot at making it to Shreveport and with the leadership of 7-8 seniors this could be the Skippers year. My early brackets would have the Skippers meeting Mt Carmel in the Semi's and if Mandeville gets past them, no one else should be in their way. The Skippers remind me a lot of the other top team Barbe has faced in Lafayette with both teams being dangerous on set plays and especially corner kicks.
Fontainebleau- Another top team in District 5 but I don't see them upsetting Mandeville in the District rematch in a few weeks. This would put Fontainebleau in the bottom side of the bracket having to get by Barbe/Lafayette in the 3rd round and I don't see that happening. I was impressed with the Sweeper, forward #9, and the keeper. The Bulldogs would have a tough time going to either Barbe or Lafayette in the playoffs and getting a win so they would need to host either team.
And finally...... I know the weather was supposed to be bad for both games and thankful it never rained for either but I was very disappointed with the turnout for both games. You have two top 4 teams playing on Friday at Mandeville and Saturday at Fontainebleau and both games drew less than 50 people. I think the Mandeville players in the stands for the Fontainebleau game outnumbered the Fontainebleau fans. If these games were held in the Barbe Soccer Complex the stands would have been packed. Is this normal for a District 5 contest? I am hoping that Mandeville and Fontainebleau will return the trip to Lake Charles next year and play in front of a true soccer crowd.
Good luck to both these teams and I enjoyed meeting many parents and fans (never found fhsfan!!). I am predicting a District 5 vs District 3 championship game in Shreveport this February.

The Mandeville coach does nothing to promote his team.
Usually the FHS parents show up. Before the boys team "got good", the fans showed up at the girls game and then left with nobody in the stands for the boys.

Will MHS and FHS have to play a playoff if they finish with equal district records or does one have a goal differential tiebreaker?

Thanks for the info...congrats to both on great seasons. Sounds like the last two games for each are formalities.
MHS and FHS should be formidable teams in the playoffs.

Mandeville 5, Covington 0
MHS earns at least a share of the district title as they finish 11-1. MHS will share the title with FHS if FHS beats Hammond on Friday. For playoff purposes, MHS will be seeded 5-1 regardless of Friday's outcome as they own the district tiebreaker with FHS if/when the two teams finish tied.

The Slidell - Northshore game turned out to be a real thriller, with Slidell getting the edge on PKs. The 0 -0 game at the end of the second OT turned out Slidell 3 - Northshore 2. The race for 3rd and 4th now comes down to Friday's games. The Friday game between Northshore and Ponchatoula will be the one to watch. Hammond will be nervously waiting the results of this one. Of course Hammond can end the suspense by beating Fontainebleau, but that is going to be one difficult task. Hey Hammond get those girls fired up, Norhshore almost beat Mandeville. You never know what might happen.
