We are learnng that goal differentials make a difference. Our girls learned a lesson for not bringing their best to the second Covington and Northshore games. We were missing our main forward yesterday b/c she was at her brother's wedding and another one due to illness. I have no idea how the WC are determined but we would love a shot at the playoffs! Look out for us next year- the majority of the team will be Seniors in '07'08!!Best of luck to all!!!

My personal opinion (for whatever that's worth) is that both Hammond and Northshore have very good to excellent chances of earning wild card berths this season. The first determining factor for wild card qualification is district winning percentage. Both teams have 42% as district winning percentage. When compared to other fourth and fifth place teams across the state, from the information that I have, it certainly appears that both teams should be in the top eight. Natchitoches Central, Acadiana (or Comeaux), and St. Joseph's are clearly in the lead with berths all but assured, but beyond that HHS and NHS are right there with New Iberia and HL Bourgeois.
Hopefully come Tuesday morning District 5 will have five teams in the playoffs ready to make a run for the title.

I got a call from Northshore saying that they were going to be the 3rd place team in this district? We (Caddo Magnet) get the third place team from this district in the first round. Did anyone ever find out how the tie breaker is determined in this district? According to the records and goal difference I thought Ponchatoula would get third?

From what I uderstand. when there is a 3 way tie according to LHSAA rules, goal differentials with only the involved teams are looked at. Don't ask me anymore than that.,because it is confusing. They were all tied for 3rd and that was stressed to the teams involved. Hopefully that will all get us wildcard consideration.Maybe LHSAA will look at us as an example to show others next year. We were all same district records. NHS and PHS had a win-lose against each other, NHS beat HHS both games but HHS beat PHS both district games.

Cado is ranked in top 10- homefield advantage- long ride for Northshore. We'll see. Cado and Byrd are strong.

No disrespect intended at all to Hahnville, but congratulations Ponchatoula! Way to represent District 5! This is obviously a huge win, and Coach Bob Gegenheimer deserves a great deal of credit. He is, and always has been, a class act and a fine soccer coach. Good luck next round!
