Neville 1 Ben Franklin 0 Final Score Thanks. I'll bet it was a rough one. I'll be glad to see a report.

Report I had was from my daughter on the Franklin team. Said Neville scored on a free kick. Didn't get much more helpful to anyone out of her.

Sorry to hear it, Duris. But I had to laugh when you said you couldn't get much out of your player. Ain't that just how it is!

Where is Falcondad with a recap. Usually has a good report win or lose.

Where is Falcondad with a recap. Usually has a good report win or lose. I was going to suggest he would have the best insight, but don't know if he went or not. If he did, we can't expect a report until they return about 2:30.

Good Game! Neville came out strong and attacked then Ben Franklin started controlling the game with their midfield control. With our fowards spread too far from our defending mids - Ben Franklin starting controlling possession late in the firt half. Neville had some breakaway chances and one of those cost us - our all state mid got hit in the eye and left the game to the emergency room for treatment - she has swelling and blood in the eye and not sure of her chances next week (it is just a game compared to sight). Second half Neville got back some control and more chances with our one of our forwards filling in for the injured mid. My daughter had a breakaway and got taken down at the 25 from behind then Jasmine Sanders put in the free kick in the top corner - just like you draw it up (but usually doesn't work perfect everytime). Had another shot at an open goal but the sweeper made it over to push the shot out of bounds as the goalie attacked the ball from the other forward. Late in the game Ben Franklin had a lot of great shots and chances but our goalie had her best game of the year - thought one was for sure going in but she punched it 20 feet in the air and caught it softly. Again could have gone either way with good clean play from both teams - home field and suprising large crowd helped and hope they show next week. Difference in the game was our speed on defense and goalie play tonight - we have relied on it before and did again tonight - great job! Ben Franklin won the midfield and ball control and as I said was a great game and could have gone either way. Hope they had a safe trip to New Orleans - good kids and good sports!
Have a great weekend as I regain my voice!

i've never been treated by any teams fans so badly in the 12 years that i've been playing. neville should be ashamed of their boys who stayed after to harass us going back to our bus.

Sorry to hear about that. After a match like that you deserved congratulations, not harassment. Hope you get some sort of apology from someone associated with Neville High School.

In no way should a few boys show the spirit of Neville sports - I am deeply sorry and ashamed for any bad behavior. We opened our gates with friendship last night - keeping the press box open for anyone who got too cold - and made homemade hot chocolate for free for the visitors. I bet our prinicipal would not have allowed that. But please be aware - there we kids there from roughly 5 other schools I saw so hopefully they were not from Neville. Again my apologies! Just like at Sam Houston last week - I heard some of the worst language from the kids I had ever heard - our prinicipal had to move from in front of them to keep from saying something - but in both cases they are hormonal teenagers that will hopefully grow up one day and do not reflect the heart of the schools!

Final will be held at Neville - should be Friday at 6:00 but the coaches have not talked to to confirm. If St Thomas More had won we would of had to travel there!

To Ben Franklin players/parents, Great game....both teams played with integrity. The fan base for Ben Franklin was a class act. I'm saddened to hear that there was any disrespect shown to our visitors/opposition after the game. Please accept our most sincere apologies and remember the juvenile display of some students do not reflect the heart of Neville or our supporters/players....

Good points, do not let a mindless minority spoil for what was highly likely a sporting majority. Lets face it, we all have our "rowdier" section of support, whereas 95% are very good sports.

it wasn't a "rowdy section"... i'm talking intentional, 20 min after shaking hands etc, staying to yell at a hurt and tired team... it's just sad that when neville's boys lost 5-0 to us our fans paid them nothing but respect before and after the game, but when we travel to their home field we get disrespect and embarassment... thank you for the apologies but the damage is already done

Has anyone ever heard anything ''good'' about Neville's crowd, fans, or facilities? I have only heard how bad they treat opposing fans and teams. Maybe the boys were upset at getting spanked 5 - 0.

This is why I quit posting frequently on this site as much this year - people like cougarfan who probably was not here - instigating conflict and not having anything to back up the accusations. I can not help it if our coach (that volunteers) is a dentist and we have for him to get off work to practice into the dark with no real lights, that we do no have a soccer facility as we have been known as a football school, that we can not practice or play games on the only field we have until football is through playing, that we have to help with the girls for everything from travel to uniforms as there is really not a budget for soccer - but guess what - we are still playing! Our girls are giving their all and anything you say can not diminish that! They will give it their all next year to with only 2 graduating starters and will our their heart and soul into the team again. As to the boys staying for 20 minutes - it was to wait on our girls to come out and cheer the team on I am sure - I really have a hard time with someone thinking that was what they were waiting for. I already contacted one of our coaches and she does not remeber anything happening and was the last one out as she locks up the facility and said most of the kids had cleared out. There was a rehearsal for a dance tonight with a White Rose Court for the sorority and some of our girls went to it - maybe the boys were waiting on them. But understand - the boys that go out with some of our girls - we do have several high schools here and they do date ones from other schools - so to accuse the boy's team of trying to harrass girls - did you see their soccer uniforms?
Again I am sorry for what someone in our town did - but don't get me started how I have been treated in your town by a few individuals - who are nothing indicative of the real great people and City of New Orleans.

I have to agree with tigerdad...Neville has a soccer program in its infancy. Why all the negativity? We've hosted three playoff games here this year and a few last year (as well as several regular season games) and it isn't until we upset a south louisiana team that we start getting bashed on this site. I hope we get some words of support from others who have been here. We don't have a state-of-the-art facility (given), but I would hardly call our facility horrendous. We've never had any complaints about our sportsmanship (until the BF game) and that was directed at some phantom boys 20 minutes after an 80 minute nail-biting match-up? Those of you who post, try to keep your comments positive or neutral. Any match at any location could be up to scrutiny since we are all human and it isn't fair to make these rationalizations about a group of people that are completely unfounded. Ben Franklin played with heart and spirit as did Neville. Both teams are winners and all this other garbage is just that.......trash!
