This High School Season, not only was Hannah Linzay exceptional in goal for Bolton, she was also the free kick specialist and Penalty Kick taker, making her joint top scorer for the team

There are so many good keepers this year it is difficult to name one, but bolton, dominican, Fontainebleau, ssa & stm all have high quality athletes between the pipes.

I'm not saying that alot of these goalies are not good, but I would have to say bieng a goalie myself that the best goalie is one that does not have to make a lot of saves. The goalie that is able run the defense and not have to make save after save is the better goalie. I realize sometimes it is hard to run the defense when your team is outclassed by the opposing team and I do believe that those goalies are extremely talented and your not always on a good team. I still say that the better keeper is the one that is able to run their defense and not have to make 10 or saves a game.

After watching the baton rouge high vs mt carmel game, i have to say that Julie Bourgeois is hands down the best keeper in baton rouge, and one of the best in the state. She made some great saves tonight.

Although I have sworn not to give my take of the FHS vs. Dominican game, I have to say that each keeper played well.
Fontainebleau's keeper Jean Bernard dominated the air despite a strong wind against her during half the game (when Dominican was most dangerous) and she did a great job of keeping her team in the game, even if they didn't return the favor. (both goals were scored on one-on-one situations where the defense stopped and let the Dominican players through).
Dominican's keeper did a great job in the shootout, but Emily Cobena didn't have to make any tough saves during the game, except perhaps one, in which she made it look much more difficult than it was. And I must say that despite her height, both of FHS's goals were scored in the air, and I was disappointed in that they were both easily saveable goals. But she came through in the shootout. Tarbell's shot was almost right to her, and Adkin's shot she had to dive and came up with the save.
I still say that Jean Bernard is the best in the state, having started every game in her career, from freshman year to senior year. (Not to mention saving FHS from another "Co-District Champions title" by saving their butts from SSA in the game and the shootout.) GO JEAN and good luck at Tech. (and good luck to the Bulldogs next year. can't wait to see what you'll do!)

I don't know if she has been mentioned, but Parkway's keeper is good. She directs her defense well so she is not always in a have to save situation. She has good hands and a good read on the ball. We have a series of pictures from one of the tournaments with a mugging situation going on between two players and the ball, Amber could be seen in the background, her eyes never left the ball and she came up with it. She played well in the quarter final game for us, provided 110 minutes of shut out soccer and went on to PKs. She had two saves and two that barely squiggled through and she was the 6th kicker and her made shot sent us to the semi-finals. She has done good things while at Parkway and she is going on to play at LSUS. We are extremely happy for her!

My vote goes to West Monroe's Keeper....Tori Redding...Sophmore...Division I District 2 First Team defensive MVP. Oh, ok, I have to admit she is my daughter, but she really had a great year and we are very proud of her! ;D

i've only seen her play once, but the SSA keeper made the best save i have seen in my soccer carreer when they played against barbe Have to agree with you on this one. Even the Barbe folks stood up and clapped on a BEAUTIFUL stop that no other keeper I have seen play this year would have made. I mentioned to all that would listen that it was the best stop by a keeper (boys or girls) I have ever seen at Barbe Stadium.

You have to consider Dominican's Sophomore Keeper Emily Cobena. Last years finals MVP. and this incedible against St. Thomas Moore. How people don't consider her one of the best is strange!
