Fontainebleau's goalkeeper Jean Bernard has to be in the list of top goalkeepers.
Starting on a consistently great team since her freshman year (followed up an All-State goalkeeper), All-State Freshman Team and All-State sophomore and junior seasons. Captaining this year's Fontainebleau team (along with Elisha Tarbell), this girl is definitely one of, if not the best keeper in the state.

Best 3 I've seen this year:
1) GK from Fontainebleau 2) GK from Dominican 3) GK from Terrebonne
Next best would be from Lafayette

Are you ranking These goalkeepers because they have been outstanding by coming up with critical save in important games, because they are vocal - directing traffic in front of them, Setting up the defense correctly to defend free kicks? Or is it because they just happen to play on very good teams? where they only have one or two shots to deal with all game? Have watch a couple of Goalkeepers in the past who got all the accolades because they played on a winning program, not because they were necessarily the best, but the coaches lobbied them to get the recognition.
If you have made 118 saves already this season, that keeper has been pretty busy. However of those 118 saves how many were long searching balls played in from 40 yards out that had no real chance of going in the back of the net unless they were just completely missed. When I was keeping stats one of the criteria used was"was the ball struck with the intended purpose of it going in the net. The GK's I tracked and some of the parents use to think that I did a dis-service to the keepers by being too hard on them. Back up your agrument with facts and not just shutouts.

I ranked mine based on their ability to play the position. The players I mentioned, in my opinion, understand their position and how it relates to what is going on in front of them. I think they could play for any team in the state, and they know how to communicate with their teammates to put them in positions to make plays.

Ask any girl on the Vandebilt Catholic team about the game against Fontainebleau. Each one will tell you that they could have tied, or won, if it had not been for the keeper. Not only is she good, and yes she is on a good team, but in those games where she hardly gets a shot on goal, she is always directing the team and stays focused on the game, even if it means yelling across midfield to tell a player "man on." Fontainebleau's Jean Bernard is the total package.

Two of the best from the Shreveport area have to be:
Cat Savage - Caddo Magnet Megan Wilder - Byrd

From Vandebilt...the game definitely could have easily gone the other way had it not been for Jean. I have also seen her play for ODP and she is truly amazing! Hannah Linzay from Bolton High School gets my vote too!

Tigertail, I am passionate about goalkeepers an even have a tendency to watch them warm up before games. If the Fontainebleau GK does all the things you claim AND is able to stay focused against weaker opponents then she does deserve any complements she receives. I like seeing a lot of different people get recognition from around the state as long as the opinion is backed up with facts.

My vote goes to Deborah Hill from Acadiana High School. From watching her from the sidelines, she really pumps up her team before games and keeps them motivated throughout the entire game. she is also very good at her postion. i dont know her stats but she is pretty good. i heard she has gotten a scholarship to Centenary College in Shreveport.

Hard to imagine that her parents had in mind that Cat Savage would choose one of the most insane positions to play in all af sports (along side net minding in hockey - stopping a six inch piece of rubber coming at you at 90 miles per hour). Who in there right mind would throw themselves at the feet of a charging forward who may or may not jump over you at the last minute (when the opinion could be boot versus teeth)? Only a goal keeper, God love-em, it takes a great deal of courage to stand between the pipes.

Of course her name is Catherine Savage but, I mean come on, how can you resist that name in the goal. Cat does a great job in the back for us at Magnet and I would have to agree that she is on a pretty short list up here in N. LA
I also agree that Megan Wilder for Byrd is one of the best I've seen this year statewide and I believe she is only a sophmore?

Bolton High keeper in Alexandria is about as good as they come. She has the right attitude for a keeper and is fearless. I believe she is on the state ODP team.

Seem like to me the best keeper to you guys are the one that play on good teams and don't have to make alot of save.Their are a lot of good keeper who play on teams that is not winning and thay don't get the the credit that is given to the ones that is winning beside a keeper is as good as her team let her be also that goes for a foward a mid .This is a team sport stop trying to make your little girl look so great by putting her name out their all it does is make the rest of the team not like her.

soccerrose, that's exactly why I mentioned the Bolton keeper. She get limited support from her team but, still performs admirably. Further, she is neither my "little girl" nor am I her coach.

Ok, I am putting in my two cents, only because the position is close to my heart, but I feel like Lana Ashford at Tara is one of the best keepers in the state.
Her ability astounds players (I know my forwards were getting frustrated with her) and she inspires her teammates (who are not as strong as her) to play at a higher level.
From what I understand she will be moving on to the next level after this year.
Anyway there is my two cents.

Deborah Hill gets my vote for the best goalie in Division I
Allison Mosely get my vote for the best goalie in Division III and one of the best in the state after giving up 7 goals in the first 3 games she worked hard and learned to move with her defense. She has only allowed one goal in the last 13 games. against teams like Newman, Barbe, caddo magnet, Acadiana, Lafayette, Mt Carmel, St Agnes and Kelly

Not saying either is better than the other on this list, but
Julie Bourgois is the best keeper in B.R districts!! (EASILY)
Sam and Taylor are the best in D-1 District 6!!
