Fontainebleau won the district, but ranked below Mandeville and St. Scholastica??

And TCH and Vandebilt swap places after both defeated district foes 10-0. Strange also.

DIVISION I 1. Mount Carmel 2. Mandeville 3. St. Thomas More 4. St. Scholastica 5. Fontainebleau 6. Dominican 7. Lafayette 8. West Monroe 9. Northshore 10. St. Joseph's Fontainebleau won the district, but ranked below Mandeville and St. Scholastica?? This poll was conducted before Fontainebleau beat St. Scholastica in district. Hopefully next weeks Final Poll will reflect their win and district championship. What I'm curious of is... Since Fontainebleau has beaten Mandeville once and St. Scholastica twice, and St. Scholastica has beaten Mandeville once and the next game tonight.. What happens if SSA, who has lost to FHS twice beats MHS tonight?? Shouldn't FHS be above both of these opponents? Mandeville and St. Schoalastica have had some great results this season but all that matters is who is playing their best game come playoff time and that looks like it is Fontainebleau.

Toss all 3 of them in a hat and pick who's the best. Personally, I think they should be 1,2, and 3 in state, but that will never happen. Teams outside of that district don't have a true feel for having such a tough district schedule. It's really tough to keep up intensity game after game when you're going through that grinding schedule. If you go by the "who beat who" game, you can argue for any team in the TOP 7. Be thankful this is not college football and we have a playoff system. We'll know for sure in a couple of weeks.

Loyola is 12-2-1 in Div II play. We have lost to Vandebilt (tournament game), Calvary (district game) and tied W. Ouachita (tournament game). Our other losses were to Div I teams and Div III (Sacred Heart-ranked 1, played in a tournament.) We lost to Chapelle in a tournament-tied for most of the game until they won on a PK at the end. Also lost to Hahnville in tournament play 0-1. Our other losses to Div I opponents are to W. Monroe (ranked 8) and Byrd.

Vandebilt moving ahead of Teurlings isn't that strange. As the season ends people are doing more research to make their decisions. For instance,Vandy tied Lafayette, who beat Teurlings twice.Vandy also beat Sacred Heart and Episcopal,2 very good teams from D3.Add to that Vandy has a 4pt better power rating than Teurlings according to Ken Ramsesy's stats.Vandy has also beaten LOYOLA,Morgan City(twice)and Lakeshore(twice) all 3 ranked in the top 10 of Dll.While giving full credit to Teurlings for a great season,I think there is a very good argument for Vandy's #1 ranking.

I'm not sure that laprepsoccer.net's power ratings should be used to make that argument. Those same power ratings have W. Ouachita at #7 and I don't see them in the top 10. Also, take a look at where some of the other teams in DI are according the power ratings. I think Ken may be minus some scores somewhere.

Ramsey has Northside ranked 20th & they haven't played a game all season. West Ouachita has put together a very good season and has been in the top 10 on a few of the polls earlier in the season. There are very good teams in North Louisiana this year.....Loyola, Neville, Calvary, West Quachita & Parkway will all be strong playoff teams.

Let me clarify something from my earlier post -- I didn't intend for my use of W. Ouachita's position in KRamsey's power ratings to come across as a slam to WO. Their ranking in the polls leading up to this week's most likely was a school first and they should be so proud. I was actually surprised to see them out of this week's top 10, yet they're 7th in the pwr rating.
Anybody on this site helping Ken with the power ratings?

Ramsey also has Haynes ranked 4th in D III, schedule shows they only played one game vs Chalmette.

We'll know for sure in a couple of weeks. oeohfppe is correct. We do have a playoff system, and will know for sure in a couple of weeks. Personally, I think any of the top 7 teams have about the same chance of winning, but you have to have a number one, two, three... seed. I think the only way you can do it is by record and "who beat who". Using that, I think St. Thomas More should be the top seed. I went back and looked at their results. I was surprised to see they only have one loss on the season, and that is to Mandeville. In addition, they tied SSA and beat Mount Carmel, Fountainebleau, Dominican, Lafayette High and St. Joseph's

archangel, I agree with you on STM ranked #1. Their loss to Mandy came on a small field in a tourney game where it is 30 min. halves. They are a solid team. On the other hand you can just flip a coin for any of the top 7. Lafayette out played, out shot, but lost to STM when they only had 1 shot on goal and it went in. But that is how yo win to out score your opponent. Lafayette also tied Dominican, Mandy & FHS all in a 2 day tourney. And all 3 of those teams along with SSA beat each other from week to week.
Once again "FLIP A COIN".
Moderator's correction -- 35 minute halves for the tournament.

lpsoccermom just curious how loyola jumps so far ahead of calvary when yall tied capt shrev 2-2 and calvary shut them out 4-0? Obviously the voters don't just look at one game. The game against Shreve was played on one of the nastiest nights of the season. IN addition, our starting forward was injured at the beginning of the game and one of our starting outside backs is playing with the largests padding on her elbow I've ever seen due to a dislocated elbow and chipped bone. No excuses for the tie, Mark has his team playing much better than he did at the beginning of the season. Emily Watson and Caydence Leber are playing very well together. Caydence is hard to stop at any time and we had some challenges with her. Their first goal came off a rebound from a corner that our defense did not pick up well, and Caydence scored the second. We scored off a corner and a free kick. It was just that kind of night. We have also beaten Shreve in the past. I will hold our record up to Calvary's any day. State what top ten teams in other divisions you have played. State what top ten team in our division you have played. In our division, we have played Vandebilt (ranked 1), W. Ouachita(ranked top ten) DeRidder (ranked top ten) Neville (ranked top ten) Calvary (ranked top ten) Ruston (probably in top 15) Parkway (top 15 probably). Other than us and W. Ouachita, I do not see any other top ten teams. I have not seen a power rating yet, but I'd be interested to see one. Here is Calvary's schedule 11/30/2010 Calvary Girls West Ouachita Girls 3 2 12/2/2010T Haughton Girls Calvary Girls 0 6 12/4/2010T Byrd Girls JV Purple Calvary Girls 1 4 12/4/2010T Calvary Girls Minden Girls 7 0 12/4/2010T Calvary Girls Airline Girls 4 0 12/4/2010T Calvary Girls Byrd Girls JV Purple 3 0 12/6/201 * Parkway Girls Calvary Girls 1 2 12/8/2010* Calvary Girls Loyola Girls 1 0 12/9/2010 Calvary Girls Mansfield Girls 4 0 12/13/2010* Calvary Girls Woodlawn Girls 9 0 12/16/2010 West Ouachita Girls Calvary Girls 2 2 12/17/2010 Calvary Girls Caddo Magnet Girls 0 2 12/18/2010T Calvary Girls Ouachita Girls 1 0 12/18/2010T Calvary Girls Pineville Girls 3 1 12/18/2010T Calvary Girls St Fredericks Girls 1 2 1/3/2011 Minden Girls Calvary Girls 0 7 1/4/2011 Calvary Girls Ouachita Girls 4 0 1/6/2011 * Northwood Girls Calvary Girls 0 10 1/11/2011 Calvary Girls Captain Shreve Girls4 0 1/13/2011* Calvary Girls Parkway Girls 0 1 1/18/2011* Loyola Girls Calvary Girls 1 0 1/24/2011* Calvary Girls Northwood Girls 5 0 1/25/2011 Calvary Girls Ouachita Christian 6 1 1/26/2011* Woodlawn Girls Calvary Girls 0 11 1/28/2011 Ouachita Christian Calvary Girls 0 0 1/31/2011 Calvary Girls Byrd Girls 0 0

Neville's solid season and number 4 ranking in Division II for most of the season is truly representative and should solidly place them in the top 4 or 5 seeds in the playoffs. That team has played through injuries, conflicts, and adversity, but never once complained or made any excuses on this page or anywhere else. Good luck to everyone.

As you know, using the whole season to seed teams is misleading just like in other sports so there will be teams that are pretty good playing each other early. Dutchtown is out of the top 10 because of early season losses with a bunch of very young players but those young players have learned from that experience and are playing well. D has only given up 3 goals in district.
