Post by Wofford Dad f/k/a SJA Dad on Dec 27, 2011 21:32:58 GMT -6
One of those nights. SJA outshot STA about 20-3. STA has 2 very good very fast forwards, but SJA was able to thwart their long ball attacks. The goal came from one of their midfielders I think, who made a quick turn from a sharp angle in the 34th minute and put it in the far post from about the 25. An outstanding shot. I got thrown out of my first game in 7 years. Don't know why. All I did was call the ref a worthless POS -- and I don't mean "parent over shoulder." He wasn't really that bad, except for awarding a FK to SJA and then reversing it to STA when one of the players complained. Oh and he missed a ridiculous challenge which resulted in an SJA player's head gear being flung away and severe contact with the ground. He was at least kind enough to inquire whether she was having vision or dizziness problems -- and then proceeded to award a throw in. Those were just the lowest of the low lights. I will conclude this by saluting St. Amant's goalie -- Kaitlin Young -- a young lady who used to play club ball with my daughter, and who was absolutely brilliant tonight with the game of her life for STA. Some of those saves were worthy of ESPN's top 10 list, although the last couple I only heard about because I had been banished to my car. Kaitlin -- you were magnificent. Congratulations! Coach Brett -- your team played hard and tough. Your goalie was amazing. Congrats to St. Amant. After the game, I decided to try and apologize to the ref for calling him a worthless POS. Unfortunately I wasn't able to speak with him, but snapped a pic while he was leaving the Pit --

St Amant 1, St Joes 0. Anyone with a report? BRHS - Dutchtown. Postponed. Lighting failure I must apologize to our friends at Dutchtown! I'm very sorry the EBR Parish School system doesn't keep their facilities up, or that BRSA won't allow Baton Rouge public schools to play on the tax payer supported fields at Burbank. I'm very sorry you had to drive in to BR to have to turn around and drive home without watching your daughters play. I kinda felt the same way myself. Hopefully we either reschedule for a sunny day when we can guarantee lighting or Acension parish will allow us to play on one of their lighted fields.

Barnacle, BRSA does allow EBR teams to use their facilities.
Broadmoor Boys, Belaire Boys, and Tara all use BRSA facilities to play.
If you are interested in booking a field, contact Gary Buete or Brett Malone @ BRSA. gbuete@brsa.org bmalone@brsa.org

I guess too much rain at Burbank this weekend. The fact that the lights at Lee HS haven't been working properly is more of an issue. Flagship public high school in the disrict, shipped to deteriorating facilities, and no dollars spent to maintain. I can't wait until the renovations are completed. Hopefully they'll be able to change light bulbs at the Government campus! Kind of embarassing as a tax payer! I can do nothing but apologize to our Acension parish neighbors.

Hey SJA Dad- I have been having great dialogue about this very subject on a meesage board at this site. You might find it to be interesting reading.... Go to REFEREES... then look for Officiating as the topic...please be advised it is definately monitored by the faternity of refs. so it is not an unbias board...

I haven't heard of a reschedule date yet. If I hear one I'll post it. I'm guessing it'll be a bright sunny day though!

Barnacle When will BRH and Dutchtown get their rematch in? My daughter says 4pm next Thursday 1/5/2012 at Lee HS. Should give enough daylight to get a game in. Hopefully we'll get some lighting before school is back in session. 4pm games will be difficult for both students and parents.

Looks like the district is 0-2 so far in Mandeville. Here's hoping BRHS will start to show this district's teeth in their opening match with Hahnville. If not it's back to EA and St.Joe's to get us one the board.

BRHS 1- Hahnville 1 in first half. Looks like the lineup has changed a bit and goal was scored by normal outside fullback, M.Guillory. We'll see how the lineup change plays out, but it looks like there's already some offensive punch.

This afternoon's action has
EA vs Teurlings at 2pm
SJA vs Caddo at 3:30pm
BRHS vs Westgate at 3:30pm
An afternoon sweep would be nice!

BRHS 2 - Hahnville 1 Final
Looks like a slight change in tactics and lineup may have made the difference. Also, using the bench a bit more to keep legs fresh. Not unexpected for tournament play, but certainly something to build on in district as well.
Good luck this afternoon to EA, SJA, and BRHS. Let's turn 1-2 into 4-2!

BRHS 1 - Westgate 1 Final
This one went back and forth according to my wife. Opportunities on both sides to put it away, but couldn't capitalize.

Any final score on the SJA/Teurlings match. I saw someone post 2-2 earlier, but game was still in progress.
BRHS is still at 0-0 with Acadiana in the first half. At the Carencro Showcase this one went 2-1 to BRHS. We'll see if we have a repeat. BRHS seemed the better team for most of the Carencro Showcase match, but Acadiana pressed them hard at the end of the match for the equalizer. I expect it'll be another close match. I'll post if I get an update from the field.

Looks like EA had a good tournament. They played several of the top teams in the state and held their own. I'd imagine this will harden them for the remainder of the season, making it difficult for any of the teams in the district to mar their perfect district run. Loyola, St. Louis, Teurlings, and St. Thomas More all make deep playoff runs. EA held their own for the most part. Congrats ladies on a tough but solid tournament performance!

BRHS 1 - Acadiana 0 (early second Half)
Goal by L. Oldenwald. Another close call by K. Ashford. BRHS said to be dominating possession and field position (according to my wife).
