BRHS 2 - Acadiana 0 (still early second half)
Goal scored by J.Domino. Sounds like it bounced around the box for awhile before Domino finally found the net.

BRHS 3 - Acadiana 0 (final)
Last goal was another bang around the box. Last touch reportedly by E. Segura. Sounds like BRHS's most dominant performance of the season. Hopefully this is an indicator their form is improving. Heavy substitution and fresher legs may be playing a part as well.

Looks like EA had a good tournament. They played several of the top teams in the state and held their own. I'd imagine this will harden them for the remainder of the season, making it difficult for any of the teams in the district to mar their perfect district run. Loyola, St. Louis, Teurlings, and St. Thomas More all make deep playoff runs. EA held their own for the most part. Congrats ladies on a tough but solid tournament performance! Thanks Barnacle! Wheels came off a lil for last game. Was even 0-0 at half, but was then running on empty;) Nice finish to tourn for BRHS!

Any final score on the SJA/Teurlings match. I saw someone post 2-2 earlier, but game was still in progress. The game ended Teurlings 3 - SJA 2.

SJA went 0-4 in Mandy, losing close games 0-2 to Loyola, 0-1 to Caddo, 2-3 to Teurlings, and in its best showing of the weekend 2-3 to St. Louis after being up 2-1 with 7 mins left.
SJA either turned the corner ag/ St. Louis or it didn't. There've been a couple of position changes that have opened up the field a bit and have created opportunities.
This first week of a new year will hopefully be the start of a fresh and new approach as I think SJA's players understand what is required.
We shall see.
I've never been confused of being Nostradamus.

Well it seems as though EA is the front runner here, but overall it seems it's a down year in competing outside the district in div I.

Well it seems as though EA is the front runner here, but overall it seems it's a down year in competing outside the district in div I. EA is definitely the front runner. Dutchtown, St.Amant, BRHS, and SJA seem to be beating each other up for the second spot. We'll know more once we're deeper into the second round of games between these teams. SJA's victory over Dutchtown gives them the slight edge for now. BRHS could start to put some distance between that pack and Dutchtown with a victory later this week. Out of district has been a grab bag of sorts. Against the top teams in the state the district is struggling. Against other local D1 teams we're holding our own. We'll see what the playoffs shake out and how many of these teams make the cut. January should be an interesting month!

SJA @ Dutchtown 1/4/11 stats
My inaccurate stat totals (I get caught up in the game and miss a few things) show:
Shots: SJA 26 (16 on goal) (includes 2 shots on goal in OT) DT 9 (4 on goal) (includes 1 shot on goal in OT)
Corners: SJA 1 (can this be right? Seems like I remember another corner or two.) DT 4
Throw Ins: SJA 60 DT 52

We didn't get many. I remember Rachel taking one and I thought Caroline took one.
Fouls should have been about 7 for each team, although a little unusual that 3 were in the box, with SJA 1-for-2 in PKs and D'town 1-for-1.

Sta 1, Woodlawn 0. (pks)
EA 5, St Joes 2. 2-1 at half. Red stickers much more spirited compared to first matchup. Lots of credit to Coach Landry and coaching staff. Game went 1-1, 2-1, 3-2, as in St Joes were very much in the game the whole way. St Joes are potentially the Saints of this district - really playing well when it matters.
Can anyone confirm, are Dutchtown and Baton Rouge playing today (Saturday) and then Tuesday too? That's a really interesting dynamic if the case. Closest I've ever had is a two week turnaround in playing same opponent again. Chances of one school winning both games tougher? More likely the split?

Very kind words Pompey my friend from across the pond. But you must work more to study your American football analogies. East Ascension is the Saints of this district. SJA might be the Falcons. Let's hope they're not the Jets.

Dutchtown beat Baton Rouge 3-0 today and will play them on Tuesday again. Grifdad can you give any report on the Dominican game It was a great game. Dutchtown made some line-up changes and generated some offense. Defense remained solid all game, and just past halftime, dutchtown got an excellent goal with a give and go followed by an excellent shot. Don't have any stats, but it was a fairly even possession game, favoring Dominican 60-40, with both sides having trouble cracking each others Defense. In the last 5-10 minutes, Dominican threw all 10 field players at Dutchtown's D and still they held! Also, There was excellent Officiating at this game as well. Both teams played hard and clean, and penalties got called AFTER advantage was lost. This was surely a game worth seeing. (of course I am a BIT slanted in my views).

Dutchtown beat Baton Rouge 3-0 today and will play them on Tuesday again. Dutchtown rolled in this match. BRHS controlled possession early (first 10 -15 minutes) after that it was largely all Dutchtown. 0-0 at the half. Dutchtown stormed out in the second half and outplayed BRHS. Nearly every ball in the air was won by Dutchtown and the DTown defense proved more that BRHS offense could handle. Very few shots taken by the Bulldogs in this one. If Dutchtown can maintain the form they played with in this match and against Dominican, they should finish in second place. For the Lady Bulldogs, they need to get something going soon or they can hang up the playoff hopes. Playing at Dutchtown on Tuesday is gonna make climbing back into the district race tough.
