Watched MHS play Tuesday. Hard to comment on the offense from that game, but I can say that the defense looked solid. Very calm and relaxed, moving the ball away from pressure and bringing it out under control time after time. Enjoyed watching it, even from the opposing sideline. It would be worth the drive to Mandeville to see the re-match with FHS tonight. No doubt MHS has been awaiting this second chance.

I was able to make this game tonight... CONGRATULATIONS MANDEVILLE, you proved me wrong Mandeville - 2 Fontainebleau - 0 1st half: FHS came out strong with quick passes and caught the MHS defense off guard a little bit through a few long throws, one of which was skyed over the bar from about the 6. FHS also had scraps fall in front of them in front of the goal, but MHS just seemed to get there a second before the shot. A few scrappy plays resulted in a few yellows for the teams. MHS broke through with about 4 minutes to go in the half i believe. Through ball that was too fast for the defender, and 8 had a breakaway, but defender caught up, but a little too late. 8 kind of tripped and kicked the ball past keeper for 1-0 MHS. Next goal was about a minute later off a freekick a FHS defender lost a mark and the scrap in front of the goal went off the post and in. FHS dominated the first 30, and it was all MHS on the way out. 2nd Half: Both teams came out kind of flat, and not many chances were produced for either team. Some scrappy fouls were being committed and yellows were being shown every once in a while. It was MHS winning all of the 50/50's and keeping posession when they got it. Then FHS started to get into a little rhythm with about 25 to go. FHS kept control of the game for about 15 minutes when an awful injury happend. One of the FHS defenders went on a strong run up the middle, and had a touch that went a little too far and he stuck his foot out and i guess him and MHS player hit ankles or he hit the ground, and he just stayed down. You could hear him screaming when the doctors came out on the field, it looked to be a knee or ankle. He was taken off the field after a few minutes, and then when the game resumed it was about 50/50 possession, with FHS having a few more chances in front of goal, but Mandys D came out and got to the ball before attackers. A few more rash challenges and the game was over. Again, props to MHS D for holding FHS, and for their offense for getting the 2 quick goals back to back to secure the win!

Some other scores from the Northshore....Slidell 4 - Ponchatoula 2. From what I heard another dual at Slidell. Isn't the district rule 3 officials for varsity matches? Northshore over St. Paul in kicks. Confirm this and give details. Hammond over CHS in OT. It was decided by a phantom call by the linesman for a PK. What a terrible way to end a game.

Ford 3, John Allen 1, for Slidell...
John Allen with a 40 yard lobbed shot...
Bryan Ford with a nice finish after a through ball to tie it up... then a ripped, moving free kick from around 25 yards out that nutmegged the keeper to take the lead...and to finish off his hat trick...a nice placed free kick from the right side of the arc of the box...

Yeah St Pauls lost to northshore on free kicks.... a free kick that tied the game and in PKs woo hoo great job northshore... the only person on that team with any talent is the keeper matt derham... other then that st pauls lately cannot find the net... they will bring it together they still have first in district and plan to keep it

I just spoke with the northshore goalie, who has always been quite amazing when it comes to pks i might add, that it was 1-1 and 4-2 in pks, in which he blocked two pks from sps.

My keeper for my best 11 is Matt Dunham from Northshore. Welcome to the team.
How is the Fountaineblue player. anyone heard anything?
If slidell has 11 goals in district play, does Ford have 10 of those?
Hammond and Ponchatoula have won (combined) 7 games this year. when has this happened before?
Next Tuesday on the Northshore, and the scores from the first round.
Ponchy at St Pauls (STP 7-0)
Mandeville and Hammond (MHS 3-0)
Slidell and Fontainebleau (FHS 4-0)
Northshore and Covington (NHS 2-0)
All 4 games were shutouts. What are your predictions this week?
Special thanks to Coach Inman for keeping up with the standings. Coach, wish all the teams had the following Covington football team does for the Lions. Just put a parent with the players and the language will clean up.
Three best fan-supported teams -- covington, fountainebleau and St Pauls. Other teams have no soccer atmosphere and you might as well watch 2 girls teams play.

St. Paul's was outplayed by Northshore in the first half but came back in the second half with immense pressure. Once again though, the finishing wasn't there. SPS had control of the first OT and I dont think the SPS keeper touched the ball at all between halftime and the end of the first OT. Second OT was dominated by Northshore who had numerous attempts on goal. The shootout was a thriller to watch if you were a NHS fan. The keeper had two full extension blocks to his left side. Great saves, good job by Northshore all around.

Earlier I listed my Best 11 team including the 2 MVP's so far. No one has other thoughts? What about a second team?
It looks like the top 5 goalscorers are STP's Frankie and Crane, Brooks Hickman with 15 for Fountainebleau, Colin Conn at Mandeville, and Ford at Slidell. Did I miss anyone?
I'd put Brooks and Colin on my second team. Eustis and Mire from CHS (who works tirelessly) on defense. I need 7 more. Hey, what's the keeper's name at Slidell? He's getting better every game.

Predictions for this week...
St Pauls - 4 Ponchy - 2
SPS dominates, and hopefully for them the slump is coming to an end.
Mandeville - 3 Hammond - 0
Same score. Mandeville is coming off a big win vs FHS and they will have some confidence on their side, and hammond cant break through that D.
Fontainebleau - 4 Slidell - 1
FHS might not be too pleased with that last result, and with some hard work put in on tuesday night, this one should be no problem. ohh and ford scores for slidell.
Northshore - 3 Covington - 1
Northshore probably has the biggest heads of anyone this week, and rightfully so. they will keep up their good performance against a struggling CHS and they might just have a little slip and let one in late, but NHS takes it.
