Okay let's get ready to rumble...... Here is my 1st look at the 1-32 seeds. Let the calling of names or telling me I am a genius begin. But please remember that at least I have the man berries to get the discussion started!! What ya think?? Barbedad -- are the 14 wildcards officially set? From your other thread, it looks like there are some games yet to be played or results reported?

Barbedad -- are the 14 wildcards officially set? From your other thread, it looks like there are some games yet to be played or results reported? 95% set... Barbe still has a game Monday but according to my 3rd grade education they will be in even with a loss. Unless there are some teams with .5000 district record that have not been reported then it is mostly correct.

yup must be -- just went added up teams at 500 or better. Nice job. I looks like there may be some sub 500 teams in like Capt Shreve at .4166.

Captain Shreve cannot get in with a 0.4166 win %. Comeaux has a 0.429 win %.
When barbedad20 talked about having the "man berries" to get the discussion started, he must have meant something rolling around inside his skull!
We still need to hear from District 8 & District 9

These seedings look a little off to me. I know BRHS has beaten Zachary, Hahnville, and Acadiana (x2). I'd think they'd come in ahead of teams they beat head to head. That would also move St.Joe's and St.Amant up a bit as well. SJA Dad can confirm, but I think SJA beat Zachary as well head to head. I'm sure there'll be a lot of debating between now and brackets being set.
Also I'm not sure about Laffy being #1. I'd put Mt.Carmel and Dominican ahead of them based on what I saw of these three teams this year, but it probably doesn't make a big difference on the top 4. Splitting hauirs up there and I don't have many hairs to split anymore.

When barbedad20 talked about having the "man berries" to get the discussion started, he must have meant something rolling around inside his skull! Touche'...... Forgot about Comeaux and they are in my back yard!!! Yes Baton Rouge is the puzzler. I have had them any where from at high as 18-22 but they were the 5th place in their district so I seeded the 3rd place St Joe's and went from there. Same holds true to Terrebonne, Hahnville, and Zachary. They are a combined 56-13-1 but have not beaten anyone outside of their districts. Old school folks that have followed this board over the years know the track record of Terrebonne once they hit the playoffs. I have gotten a few IM's questioning why any of the 3 are in the top 16 but they have had a great year and I feel deserve a home game in the 1st round. Just my thoughts with the cobwebs in my head!!

Don't worry about forgetting about Comeaux or where to put them. Their playoff hopes are on life support. If they get in, it will be a miracle resulting from parity between the middle/bottom teams in both District 8 and 9.

Just for clarification: Zachary 17-5-1, 8-0 in District 5 Losses: 2 against EA, 1 against W. Monroe, 1 against St. Joe, 1 against Pascagoula, Ms 4 of the 5 losses came in first two weeks of season with #1 keeper and #1 defender out do to injury. Only loss with full roster is to EA. Won 19 of last 23 matches. 11 empty nets 2 wins against Wesgate (out of district) Defeated Woodlawn (BR) 6-0 (BRHS only scored three in two matches) Draw with St. Amant 2-2 Against DivII beat top 10 Morgain City 5-0, St. Michaels 4-0, and ASH 6-0 Place 2nd in Gulfport HS Showcase Zachary did not play BR. (first scrimmage of the year was with BR, ZHS lost the scimmage 2-0 with limited roster and playing many JV players)

Of course bias, arent we all? St Joes very worthy of top 16 and I've have STA and BRHS considerably higher and right in the mix.
Dutchtown and Northshore will make some serious noise. Airline very interesting too.

In full respect of deservedly powerful #5-8, forget #9 - the coach is an idiot:)......... ...........the top 4 look interchangeable and strong strong strong!! I think what the job of the coaches is they try and get the 1-8 as close as possible and also the 25-32. The 9-24 play each other in the 1st round so they seem to work itself out. I have said before seeding the Terrebonne (18-1), Hahnville (21-7-1), and Zachary's (17-5-1) are the hardest. T-bonne is 18-1-0 so where do you put them?? I have gotten I'ms questioning my having them in the top 16 but if not there then where? They should be rewarded for a good season but where??

Correction to previous post; Zachary has won 16 of last 19 (2 losses, 1 draw) (not 19 of 23).

Is seeding based only on your record or on who you have played throughout your season? In that case, Terrebonne may have a 18-1 record, but "who" have they played? They only played 3 out of district games during regular season, Mt. Carmel (being their only loss) Morgan City which they did win , and Ellender . However, they attended "1" tourney where the trampled Tioga, Alexandria, and maybe had some competition against Opelousas Catholic. They won their district with 2 wins against Westgate. They are seeded at #13.
Westgate, however, is seeded at #20. They played 6 out of district games in their regular season. 3 of those being against Dutchtown, Zachary, and Teurlings Catholic. Attended 3 tourneys: St. Amant, St. Fred's and Mandeville.
At St. Amant played against EA 1-2, Zachary 1-2, and West Monroe 2-1.
At Mandeville Classic played against Central Lafourche 0-0, Baton Rouge 1-1, Lakeshore 1-1, Northshore 0-3.
At St. Frederick's, (won tournament for 2nd year in a row) played Neville 1-0, OCS 4-1, Ouachita Par. 3-0, West Ouachita 1-3, then beat WO in the finals 2-1 to win tourney.
All in all, WHS has played 7 ranked teams this year with a record of 3 wins (West Monroe, Neville, West Ouachita) 1 tie (Lakeshore) and 3 losses (EA, Teurlings, Northshore) 4 losses if you count the 1st game against WOuachita @ St. Fred's.
Doesn't playing against quality teams whether it be with an outcome of win, tie or loss (which WHS has accomplished all three) mean anything?
If that is the case, then perhaps Westgate should have taken the Terrebonne approach: play one powerhouse, go to one tourney and stomp weak teams and then play your regular district games so that you don't have any "losses" show up in your record to get better seeding.
Okay, now that's off my chest, I feel better. Thank you for allowing me to vent.....

Curious how you dropped Mt.Carmel to #4. They are 25-3-0. Ranked #1 in the last poll taken last week.Split games with Lafayette(both going to a shootout).Beat SSA 4-2. Split with Dominican. With a 4-0 win, and lost 2-1 in O.T. Just seems like a big drop for loosing 1 game in O.T. Just food for thought.

Terrebonne won their district with 2 wins against Westgate. They are seeded at #13. Westgate, however, is seeded at #20. That's what I like about this time of year... plenty of discussion and dissecting of my seeds.... So with your post about all the difficult teams Westgate played but lost twice to T-bonne do you think they should be Westgate #13 and T-bonne at #20??? How do you justify that??? And since you got all this off your chest how bout a post where you think Westgate and T-bonne should be. Don't just vent... Jump up and down and scream and let me know where you would put them......

Curious how you dropped Mt.Carmel to #4. I guess it is we remember the last thing we see. Not to bring up old wounds but if LSU would have lost to Georgia in the SEC championship game the last week of the season would they drop only to #2? No we would have seen an Alabama vs Okie State a few weeks back.... But I digress..... I have said before the top 4 are interchangable.... Lafayette beat the #5 team on the last day of the season while Mt Carmel lost to the #4 ranked team in Dominican. Don't just do a drive by.... post what you think the top 4 should be so we can discuss......
