No offense to Zachary team, All I can say is that Westgate on the good day will be a tough team to beat. They have their starters that were not there in the second game against Zachary. Hopefully they will meet again in the play off to set up that record straight for this year. Good luck for both teams and all teams.

Westgate will play their first game on Thursday because they are struggling with some their players that have RELIGION...........So coach be ready to play on Thursday, if you are going against Westgate High.

With the results of the first round whssoccermom maybe T-Bonne should have been ranked higher and Westgate should have stayed home. I'm not saying, I'm just saying be careful what you get off your chest cause it may cause you to put your foot in your mouth which I'm sure a lot of people enjoy with you! Truthfully I think Westgate had a good season and played good hard soccer so they deserved their shot but so did Terrebonne so let's focus on the kids getting their rewards instead of parents trying to grab the light.

Good plan, soso. Talk trash whssoccermom now before SSA serves T-bonne some humble pie (the whole pie). I'm guessing it will be a 4-0 or 5-0 result. whssoccermom has a valid point... Div I teams earn respect by playing against the top teams in Div I, not middle seeds in Div II or Div III. T-bonne's 1-loss record looks good on paper, but that's it.

Terrebonne is a very young and good team. For the past three years (maybe more) they have gone undefeated in district with a team full of freshmen and sophmores. Coach Lecompte has been the head coach for several years, but has been "official" head coach the last two years and can now dictate their tournament choice. He also has to manage the pull of some of the best players in the area to one of the elite private school soccer programs in Vandabilt. Soccer is young here so I respect a program flourishing with a small but growing pool of soccer players. My team has played against some of the best in the state and been at some of the best tournaments the state has to offer. Terrebonne is on par with teams like East Ascension and Northshore. Expect good things to come.

Not us, but Terrebonne. I just felt our district first seed Terrebonne was not being fairly represented. I coach Thibodaux High....we are just beginning a program.

sorry about that, but I guess as a district goes a win against them (SSA) would give you all a lot of respect....So far SSA is the cream of the crop for district 6...

aliceshoe1, good to have you back. I'm not going to tell you the score of the SSA-Terrebonne game was misleading, because the score speaks for itself. I have to applaud the effort of this young Lady Tiger team. For the first 20 minutes or so, the Lady Tigers came out strong and fired up. Their defense appeared quick and physical. However, when the Doves found their rythm....well, the rest was history. The Lady Tigers did not substitute frequently so for the most part the starters remained on the field. The Doves were too well conditioned and too deep for the Tigers to keep up the rigorous pace. All in all, a nice effort by the Lady Tigers. You'll hear more from them in the future.

as I look deeper into the results so far there is one glaring point into if seeding was correct. Hahnville is the south shores schools last best chance to make a statement about the area validity and respect from a a seeding propspective. I have more information because of being active from a club level prospective. St. Charles Club ball has good representation when playing teams around the state, but unfortunately outside of that (am not talking premier ball) talent drops off significantly or none existance.. Most of the talent on southshore (New Oeleans/Jefferson Area) tend to go to private schools and the level of play at a high school level is significantly better then their public school counterparts. If we look at the latest results and some intermediate seedings there is where we may find the greatest issue. Lafeayette, Baton Rouge (including Gaonzales area) and New Orleans (private schools and northshore public and private) definately top ten, next level North Louisiana 11-24 and next level 25-32 South Shore (New Orleans/Jefferson Public schools including River Parishes). To me the middle tier teams were rewarded for their record (New Orleans/Jefferson public schools River Parishes), but as you looked at level of competition it just was not there. I might add that as for as district goes these teams cannot control this (level of competition). By the results we all can see that the 15-32 could have been off when seeding these teams and areas in question.

aliceshoe1- That was my hidden point. Teams in week districts (cannot control level of competition) they must venture out and play a few games outside their area. I know from a club point of view parents do not have a problem with this. Games could also be scheduled on Saturdays to make these rare occasions possible. Give the North Louisiana teams credit because that is what they do. These teams want to play the best because that is how you do become better. Your observation is well takened.

A quiz (with the answers)...
1. How many teams have won a state title over the previous 9 playoff years? 6 2. Can you name them? Dominican, SSA, STM, Lafayette, Mt Carmel and Fontainebleau 3. Has there been any teams, other than the 6 state champions, who have been finalists? Yes, only 2. 4. Name them: Mandeville ('03 & '04) and Barbe ('06 and '08, "who's your daddy?") 5. Since coach seeding began in '09, how often do upsets happen? ~15% in the 1st round, ~10% in the 2nd round, and ~50% in the quarters, semis & finals (most by SSA and Dominican)
Conclusions: 1. Districts 9, 6 and 3 dominate Div I. 2. District 9 (Dom & MCA) is fed by the Chicago Fire Jrs 3. District 6 (SSA, Mandeville & Fontainebleau) is fed by the Mandeville Soccer Club 4. District 3 (STM & Lafayette) is fed by the Cajun Soccer Club (some Lafayette Futbol club, too)

wild2120 You nailed it! Proof is in the pudding! Good strong Club Ball is a deciding factor. I know when we travel to play all the above it is a battle and the soccer played is at a high level. The coaches that have resoponded to these types of threads have attested to that...My addition to that would also be the Baton Rouge Soccer Club... Teams from that area have not won state but are very competitive...District 5 (I think that is the one) have performed very well in the state playoffs. Most if not all games with these teams from that district have been very competitive.

Just to add, Houston Dynamos are also a factor in Lafayette area high school soccer.... Three clubs has impacted the competitive level of almost every age group in girls soccer. CSC does not field a U18 girls team (there is a U17) this year at the highest competitive level...the U16 girls are a combo team with BRSC. Bleeds over to high school with combining teams/styles of play.
