Although they broke my heart beating Mt Carmel, I gotta go with SSA in the finals. Lafayette is strong, but SSA is the more complete team based on what I've seen.

SSA back to the finals. Coach Ortner must have a winning formula getting his team primed for deep playoff runs every year. Haven't seen Laffy play, assume Soker dads three kids are amazing.
SSA in a close one.
Good luck, good health, both deserving teams,

I agree with aliceshoe1. LHS too much speed on dry surface. Wet field advantage SSA.

From my experience teams that play a direct style struggle a bit on turf. It is very difficult to place the ball behind the defenders but in front on the GK on a fast surface. I also don't think a wet field gives either team an advantage. It's LHS's long ball vs. SSA's more balanced attack. For the last 4 years set pieces have been a deciding factor. I see no reason why that should change this year.

For the last 4 years set pieces have been a deciding factor. I see no reason why that should change this year. Bingo. With the narrowness of Tad Gormley, set pieces will play a much bigger role than they would on a wider pitch. I expect to see at least a goal or two come from a corner kick or a long throw. When defending set pieces, it's going to be critical to get the ball clear ASAP and not let a ball bounce around the box where an attacker can slam in an easy goal.

Kevin mentioned the narrowness of Tad Gormley, is Tad Gormley field dimensions smaller that Pan American field? I thought it was bigger than the normal football/soccer field that most schools play on. I was thinking it was the same size as Independece Stadium or Pan American field.

Indy is 75 yards , PanAm is 70, Tad Gormley is 64-66.

It's definitely bigger than some of the pitches I've seen that are only 53-55 or so yards wide, but it's definitely narrower than Pan Am. Someone posted last year that Gormley is 64 yards wide and that seems about right judging by a Googlemaps view. I've seen a few different sizes mentioned for Pan Am, but all of them say it's at least 70-72 yards wide. That 6-8 yards makes a huge difference in how the games play out.

I'll go with Lafayette in the tailgate division. Lafayette fans just look for the 40' entertainment trailer. There will be Gumbo (I believe) cooking and 4 T.V.'s to watch whatever along with leather couches to lounge on. Come check it out.
See you there.

Shelter #1 @ the open end of the horseshoe is where the more experienced tailgaters will be. Rain or shine!

Close game that could go either way. LHS beat the only team that beat SSA this year (Font.)to get to this game. Will not pick, but my heart is with SSA. soccit2me I do agree that Ortner is probably the best coach in girls high school soccer at this time. In my opinion I could actually see him ( Ortner if he wants) going to the next level.I have seen this team (SSA) play this year, I am familiar with some of the athletes and this is not the most talented team in the state, but as a team with good coaching they are very tough to beat. What a great concept good coaching and team ball!!Huuummmm Ortner maybe on to something here........

Anyone else think the field is narrower than 64? From the google maps view, and in person, it only looks like the soccer pitch extends about three yards on either side past the football sidelines. So it looks more like 59-60.
