SJA at EA this Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Spartan Stadium in what is projected to be a rainstorm. Hope that holds off. I hope that holds off as well. I'd much rather see this play out under good conditions, since this will be for the district lead going into the second round of matches. Good luck to both teams and I'll pray for sunshine and good health for you both as well.

at half, it's SJA 1 EA 0. Goal from Kennedy Achord in the 7th min from the 18 off an assist from Brie Stewart. GK got a glove on the ball but couldn't keep from going over her head. Shots are 10 to 6 for EA. EA FW has 2 one on one's with SJA GK Aleah Harris. One goes wide and Harris makes an acrobatic save on the other. Aleah definitely the player of the match thus far with several spectacular saves. SJA defense playing high trying to trap but EA is timing their runs very well. Has only been caught offsides once.

Final. SJA 2. EA 0. Goal in the 77th minute from Rachel Fenner on a fantastic shot from 35 over the GK's head. Assist to Lily Renhoff. Final stats -- SJA with 17 shots, 10 OG. EA with 14 and 8 OG. SJA's Aleah Harris with 8 saves. EA GK also with 8 saves. A physical game with 10 fouls on EA with 2 yellows. SJA with 8 fouls. SJA with 3 corners. EA had 2.
Fontainebleau next up for SJA on Monday.

Stickers return to reality against Fontainebleu. After completely dominating the 1st half, outshooting FB about 8-2 and with 8 corners, one had the feeling at half that SJA should have had more than 1 goal. FB came out a different team, pressed on the wings, and really took it to SJA in the 2nd half. FB proved it is a worthy 5 seed come playoffs. St. Scholastica clearly the cream of the crop but talent wise, seeds 2-10 not a chasm. It is all about will, perseverance, coaching, patience, and avoiding getting stuck in a hang dog moment.
SJA goal a thing of beauty. Brady Moran to Brie Stewart at the top of the box and a wicked left footed shot in the 23rd minute. Brie almost duplicated it 10 mins later but was just just wide.

Waiting to see how things shake out after the Mandeville and Holiday Cup tournaments this weekend, but Div I Dist 5 is curently well represented in the Power Rankings. EA, SJA, and BR all nestled near the top with Dtown and STA hnaging around Top 30. Woodlawn not too far off the pace with good tournament results. We'll see how much movement occurs as results come in. Power Rankings should be posted either Sunday or Monday. Keep your eyes peeled.

EA with a strong 5-1 victory over Hahnville, Baton Rouge and SJA both with draws against top teams. Woodlawn with a victory at the Holiday Cup. Decent start to the day for Dist 5.

Woodlawn ends day 1 of the Holiday Cup at 2-0 with 2 shutout victories (Beau Chene (2-0W) & Westgate(1-0W))! Dutchtown splits (New Iberia (0-2L) & Catholic NI (1-0W)) their matches at Holiday Cup. Looking for EA, SJA, and BRHS to finish the day strong for Dist 5.

Any of the district teams missing key players due to holidays? SJA missing 3 starters out of town and 1 starter ill for the Mandy tourney. 1-1 tie against St. Tomas Moore. Strong defense by both teams. SJA out shoots STM 6-4. Rachel Fenner with the equalizer on a FK struck into the upper right 90. A terrific shot. 4-0 against Caddo. Goals by Fenner (2), Sarah Town and Courtney Lejeune. Assists Fenner, Izzy Gutierrez, and Audrey Viso. A bit surprising to see EA lose to Lakeshore 2-0. Lakeshore seemed to match EA's physicality. A real eye opener. We get Lakeshore at 8 tomorrow morning.

Credit to Lakeshore, first 25 mins went well for EA, then LS controlled much more. EA missing starters too, out of town or ill, but no excuses and am sure same for everyone this holiday and sickly time of year.
Great tourn as always. Exciting to see the strong competition.

SJA loses top MF to a quad injury, but hats off to Lakeshore in their 1-0 victory.

Any of the district teams missing key players due to holidays? BR was missing 3 starters, great to see younger players step up and come away with points in both games against very good teams.

Big game at the Bank tomorrow night. BR High visiting SJA. Offensive firepower on both sides coupled with 2 stingy defenses. Should be a great game.

This matchup has produced a 1 goal margin of victory just about every time I've watched. I expect this year's matchup to follow form.

I think the one goal differential holds up again tomorrow. St Joes the favorite, but rivalry factor will have BRHS up for the game. EA travel to St Amant same night. It's like the EPL derby schedule

I know that both teams were missing players during the Mandeville tournament last week. Will they be at full strength, other than injuries, for the game? We were missing 4 starters and then a 5th was hobbled by a swollen knee. 3 of 5 are back. This will be a tough out. Sheila will have them rocking. A 2-1 game. Not picking the winner -- just wishing.
