Some referee's will also comment on the play now and then. Saying things such as, Nice Ball, Great Save Keep, Good intensity you too. I think this also goes a long way when keeping control.. Also letting the players know when you seen something and you have given advantage. It lets the players know, they did not get away with it. putmeincoach2, how can you post on this thread with all the comments about the officials, but in turn cut out simple comments made by myself and stuckonthesidelin on the girls' div I dist 4 thread, which didn't attack any official but just stated an opinion about calls as they related to the game with no attack on an official? In this thread the attacks are actually addressed at officiating and some officials. ?

I just got my internet back today, and just been checking every now and then and posting while I was at work. No time to moderate. I have recieved complaints about the post that were posted on that thread, so I modified it.

Here's the simple fact, security or soccer uniforms. Well lets see which do I choose a high school coach will ask him self. Ah what the heck we can paint numbers on T- shirts and that will be fine. Let's get the security guy . Most high schools don't support a soccer program very much, because they don't make money. It's all about the big green, there are so many cops at a football game they trip over each other. they have the fan base, thats what soccer in LA. needs. Here's my two cents. The ref should not have to worry about the stands. There should be a school rep. in the stands who should handle that. (Make an announcement on the PA before the game about conduct, it works) That person should be known by the ref's. If there is a problem the ref should go to them or the coach and the game stopped until that person is removed. These kids that go to the games pay the bills. God bless the few students that do.We hardly make enough money to pay the refs. We all know how low soccer game attendance is. Hell some times other teams parents won't even go. We normally have more fans at an away game than the home team. All this ref's controlling the crowd is B.S. I feel a ref is there to not only call fouls, help players with rules and allow the flow of the game and monentum to continue, not stop every two minutes, if he has to stop that often someone should be riding the pine, unless a fan is on the field. Soccer needs the fans, They pay the bills, they inspire their team to play hard and maybe win. I didn't find the pit crazies to be that crazy. Looked like a bunch of high school kids cheering for their team. I did not hear any bad words, your making a mountain out of a mole hill, don't run the few fans off that are not related to a kid on the field. Chill out!! let the players play and the fans cheer, the refs control the field and the school control the stands. How about invite the whole family to go watch and bring a friend., sometimes they have Gumbo too!!

Good comments....the kids should be allowed to yell and make as much noise(except whistles...referre whistles that is) as much as they want...unless they are cursing at the players, parents, coaches or refs...OK...so now you want me to list the "Seven dirty words" that are unacceptable. Well...those words/comments out of spectators...(and this is a terrible analogy but fitting so here goes) - they are kind of like pornography: I cannot define it - but I know it when I see it.And just to beat all of you to the swift, witty reply....I don't spend 23 hours a day lookin at porn so save the jokes for another time and show a liitle class and that you actually comprehend what I just wrote. The point is this: fans, especially students, need to be able to enjoy AND control themselves at the games and REFS need to be a little "more thick skinned" during those games. Go to a HS basketball game in inner city NO and see what the refs endure...all the while doing their job with composure. School administrators attending games would help as well.....ya think? A little less misbehavior by the student body and parents....just a thought. FYI....providing security is required at all games by the home team under LHSAA rules. The term "security" is not defined. Imagine that?
