I believe to have a state championship match it should be easily accesssible for the students and parents of the schools involved. I believe that some planning has to be done in advance. Since the participants in the Soccer champions almost always come from southern La in every division. ( This year the only school north of I-10 Corridor still in contention is Neville div-2 girls). I believe they should change the championship site this week to a southern La location. I believe that 90% of the soccer fans in the state would then have an opportunity to view the game, not to mention the students will have an opportunity to see their school vie for a championship.

I think that if they can get the stadium built here at the fields in Alexandria they should consider moving it here, that way IF a northern team is in the finals it'll be close, and it's not that far from anywhere south of here either really. It should be a nice place to play from what I hear

Yeah Alexandria is a good central location. This Shrieve Port stuff is ridiculous.

Like it or not, they are being played in Shreveport. The Shreveport Regional Sports Authority made the bid. They are partially funded by the tourism industry here. They would like nothing better than to see lots of folks from South Louisiana coming up here to visit. Their sole function is to bring sporting events like this to Shreveport - Bossier. Having been in numerous planning meetings with the Sports Authority folks for this event, I can almost certainly say they are very happy so far and will be making another bid when the time comes next year. LHSAA likes to have its state championships scattered thoughout the state, but most of all it comes down to $$$$$$. With any luck, this tournament will be up here for many years to come.

Lafayette did a great job with the D-I and D-III state championships held at UL-Lafayette last year. I think it should be there this year as well!

Not only is Shreveport a long drive, it's usually way colder up there than it is in Lafayette at this time of the year. Way to go LHSAA. Always thinking about the players best interest?? Perhaps with a changing of the guard we may get more than just a $$$$ concern. For all high school sports, I sure hope so.

although shreveport might not be the most centrally located place in the state...and is a far drive for students and fans...but everyone from the north had to make the trip if they got that far to tad gormely...so its nice to get to see the finals this year instead of hear bout them! but Independence is by far to me the best field in the state! i mean no field factors...no slop conditions...but its it big and open and i think the guys will like playing in that kind of a place!

Does the "L" in LHSAA stand for Lafayette or Louisiana? And believe it or not, I-49 is a two way road. I hope this kind of thinking doesn't go on at FIFA. If so, USA will never host the World Cup. The teams in the final game always come from Europe and South America. Keep kicking and kwityerbichen"

alexandria would be a great location, but from what it seems johnny downs isnt too interested in high school soccer for some reason. lafayette isnt bad either or baton rouge. im sure both cities have very nice fields. they just need to put up the $ that Indy put up.

Congrats Shreveport. You win. I used to travel to and through Shreveport on business often. Honestly, Shreveport only considers itself part of LA when it is convenient. They would give anything to be considered a suburb of Dallas. By all means, they televise the Cowboys games more often than the Saints, and that is a fact. If you remember, it was the representatives from Shreveport/North LA areas that opposed using state tax money to keep the Saints. Go Cowboys; oh I mean the Saints now; or who ever is winning or benefiting. Great move LHSAA. I am sure the huge following of soccer in Shreveport will show up in full force to cheer on teams that they no nothing about.

You obviously know nothing of what you are talking about. You're argument of Shreveporters who like the Cowboys over the Saints has no merit becuase 1) Its a football team, and I like football, but honestly I and many others who post on this site couldn't care who wins the Superbowl and 2) Not many people, including people from down south liked the Saints until this year. Now this may be suprising to you, but people from Shreveport to play soccer and some are very good at it. If there was a way to organize all the soccer players and put them at one school like Jesuit has done, I gurantee there would be multiple state championships for the Northeast LA area. Maybe you should stop being so biased toward your own city and be open to new things. And for my last point, and one I have often said before, NO ONE from Shreveport EVER complains about going down south to play and we go down south many times in a high school season and twice as much in the club season.
