After watching Lauren Wells in several games I would have to agree that she is one of the better keepers that I have seen, she is a smart player, very physical, and seems to have a great command of her team. Thanks for the kind words wlf. Last night I moved over the the Bishop side of the field in the second half (were Redemptorist was on defense and spent most of the night) and over heard several of the Bishop parents commenting on Lauren's skill. The saves have not yet been reported but she was very busy all night. A lesser keeper would have allowed several goals under the pressure the Lady Wolves experienced last night. I had the pleasue of talking with the Dutchtown coach and his wife last night at the game but didn't get a chance to ask his opinion of Lauren's all-district chances. I believe the other coaches in our district will see fit to reward her for her efforts this season.

AIC,
I have the pleasure of coaching Lauren's male counterpart, James Deen, and it is odd how much they are alike. It seems like they both are always making incredible saves. They both take a lot of shots and you know you can't stop everything but they both make it fun to watch. I am sure she will not be overlooked. She stands out. And I LOVE the shark jersey. so confident and quirky, good qualities for a goalie!!

Amanda Roark is the keeper for MCA and has: 30 shutouts 7 goals allowed Record 32-1-1
Without a doubt MCA has a strong defense in front of her but Amanda is an integral part of the defensive unit that has posted the above stats along with an offensive unit that plays a possession style of soccer. I've seen all but two games this season and have seen her tested against some of the best teams in the state.
I've seen Lizzie Barnes and Amanda Roark play many indoor games and am hesitant to say which keeper is the best.
In the same vain not being very familiar with goalies mentioned in above posts you have to respect their accomplishments.
I am very comfortable stating that Amanda has been tested by some of the best teams in the state.

Rebecca Blouin from Vandebilt in Houma is definately one of the best in the state! She is a quick and fast keeper who can also punt the ball way past the midline. She played in the playoffs with a hurt shoulder and the flu... i think you should her credit for that.

I agree Deborah is good, but having watched her multiple times, she is not the best keeper in the state in my opinion. Among the best keepers that I have seen are Mallory Hodges (BRHS's sweeper), Elizabeth Sooby (Loyola), Tori Collins (McMain? probably the best), Lizzie Barnes (Ben Franklin), Hannah Kauffman-Swang (Fontainebleau), and Noelle McBride (STM).

I will translate for PUMASFC as he is getting up in age and the subject of KEEPERS excites him.
He said.... that seems to be the one thing no one wants to give ..... is stats, so that you can compare players. Although who plays in front of Goal Keepers have some effect on the amount of shots they see also.

Thank you for translating. It is difficult to string words together now and then especially if you were already old when Moses was found in the reed basket along the Nile.

The sad thing is that the translator was around when YOU were in a basket. We digress........ I shall yield to more on the KEEPERS.

Chelsea O. from Lafayyete is most definately the best all-around keeper in the state. She has this tenacious explosiveness that is just unbeleivable. Also her dicipline and poise is one in a million. By the way I am not quite sure what her season stats are but i know she hasn't been scored on since they played barbe on Jan. 14th. Pretty impressive to me.

Okay stats in. Chelsea O from laffy has not only been scored on since jan 14, but that was her only goal during the season. From what I understand a back up keeper was their at the begging and got 2 goals during that time. Chelsea was also in a numerours amount of shootouts during the season and came out on top during all but one. Pretty dang impressive if you ask me.

unless we played the laff. team when they had the backup keeper, we def. tied them 1-1, meaning your stats are wrong and she has let more than one goal in, or you need to explain this girls stats a little more clearly. the game we played against them was before jan as well.

When stats are reported, they need to be accurate. According to reports in LaPrep Soccer, Ortego was in goal the first time against Mount Carmel and gave up 2 goals. By checking scores the following teams scored on LHS: Barbe - 2 Vanderbilt - 2 ST. Thomas More - 2 Newman 1 Mt. Carmel 2 . So at the very least, LHS has given up 9 goals ( not to bad ). Also, the keeper position was rotated for much of the year by the LHS coach and both keepers will return next year. Nice to have depth.

It is quiet the compliment to LHS, there seems to be no "me first or my stats first" regardless of the position on this team, which might explain why this TEAM is in the finals...

I have been trying to keep up with local reports on players and it seems to me that the newman goalkeeper is getting a lot of talk. Im also wondering what happend to Barnes. She seems to me to be a great keeper. Not much is being said about either of these keepers.
