When you talk about " best keeper in the state" your discussion cannot be limited to district games. LHS is in the final because they truly play as a team. There is no 1 player you can focus on and this includes the back 4. I still believe that the Mount Carmel keeper is the best and most tested keeper in the state. It should be a interesting final, good luck to both teams.

I have been trying to keep up with local reports on players and it seems to me that the newman goalkeeper is getting a lot of talk. Im also wondering what happend to Barnes. She seems to me to be a great keeper. Not much is being said about either of these keepers. Lizzie Barnes and the Ben Franklin defense had another great season. They gave up only 8 goals in 20 games (two games that are recorded as 1-0 losses for Franklin were actually 0-0 ties that went to shootout). Franklin gave up 2 goals in 2 games (1 pk) to Mt. Carmel, 0 in 1 game with Lafayette (lost in shootout), 1 in 2 games to Newman, 0 in 2 games to Sacred Heart (lost 1 in shootout). I continue to think that Lizzie and Noelle McBride of St. Thomas More are the top keepers, certainly in Div. II. Kristin Geisz of Newman has also had an excellent season and may be about to lead her team to its second straight state championship.
