Comeaux 8 - 0 Woodlawn
Game never really in doubt, Woodlawn made a couple of forrays through the middle third of the field early, until Comeaux decided they had enough. 6-0 at the intermission. CHS outshot WHS 22-2 (that's generous both were from long range and one wasn't even on Target). Scoring (sorry I didn't get their numbers) 5th, 12th,27th,28th, 31st,40th minute. Second half scoring, 5th (defender hit goalkick straight to CHS player who promptly put just under the crossbar through the keeper outstretched hands) 73rd (very nice feed from wing to slashing forward who finished it off unmolested) minute, to end the scoring. 30-0 shots taken in the second half. 36 saves on the evening wasn't enough too keep it close in this game. Comeaux played a very attractive brand of soccer tonight, the kind you would like to see throughout the rest of the playoffs. Good Luck and best wishes to their players and fans during the rest of their playoff run to the finals. No mercy shown or asked for as substitutions were kept to a minimum (think each team made one in the second half).

Lafayette 1 St. Amant 0 very physical game LHS did not score till two min left in the game LHS had at least a 10 to 1 shot on goal advantage Ref's from Hammond could have stayed home and phoned it in Not quite fair if you ask me. STA put up a heck of a defensive game. The best opportunity for both teams in the first half to score came when STA took a direct shot from outside the box that drummed the bar. Of course we should also mention that the goal LHS won on was a freaky-deaky bouncing ball in front of the goal (not even intended as a shot) that the STA defender and goalie miscommunicated on with 1:29 left to play. Now, was LHS the better team? Skill wise no question. But a trained eye could see that STA played a great defensive game as well, effectively giving hell and leaving the possibility of overtime and PKs against what is probably one of the semifinalist this year. To say that the refs could have stayed home is a misguided read of what was really a great game on both sides of the field.

Actually, according to the laws of the game, LHS scored when the ball crossed the plain of the goal line between the posts of the goal. I never have seen a law of the game involving the phrase "freaky-deaky". But I know cheese goes well with whine.
STA played well, left it on the field. Hats off to them for stepping up, and hats off to LHS for finding a way to win (see article from paper). 'nuff said.

Jdaddy was only making a point that such an excellent game referenced "the refs from Hammond" Leobacker did not say the refs BUT the refs from Hammond. What does that imply? Are refs from Hammond partial or is it a must that Lafayette refs officiate games in Lafayette? Would there been any talk about the refs had the game been the blowout it was supposed to be? Slice up plenty of cheese to go with All the whine.

I would have to say that in my many years being associated with girls soccer, I have never seen such a poorly officiated PLAYOFF game as the Lafayette High/St. Amant game. Not partial--just poor.

Baron, you were there and I appreciate what you saw. My only point was that instead of just Refs, they became the refs from Hammond as if to imply something. If not, simply saying the refs would have sufficed. No arguement here about game officiating but you gotta admit citing where they were from in the context of what was said conjures up something sinister. Hell, I sat in the frigid Lafayette weather across town last night and I wish I could blame what I sat through on some refs BUT Comeaux's excellent play prevented that. Ya'll savor your cheese, there is no whine to be had from Spartan Field.

Never said the refs were bias. They just seemed to be watching some other game. "Hammond" because that's were they came from.

Barron,If would like to say,If you qould pay more attention to the team play and find out ways to strengthen the weaker areas then, you would not have to worry about Ref's. The Ref's are there to control the game and not to be a factor on the scoring of the game! Remember, It would be different if teams put the ball in the back of the net than worry about Ref's. I would have to say that in my many years being associated with girls soccer, I have never seen such a poorly officiated PLAYOFF game as the Lafayette High/St. Amant game. Not partial--just poor.
