The Goal Keeper for McKinley is Kaqtherine Grubb. She was the Keeper when Ben Franklin won state two years ago. Now she has chosen to finish her Senior year here after being displaced by the hurricane.

Here is a simple way the compare all the Goalkeepers from across the state: add goals allowed to saves made. this will give you a total number of shots on goal. Divide this number into goals allowed. Then you have a raw number that can be used to compare Thibadoux & Central Keepers to Lafayette and Baton Rouge High Keepers, and everyone in between. There are many very good goalkeepers out there. Defend you selection is all I ask.

Not to sure that system really works very well. You have to take into account the opposition and if a team plays a really weak non-district schedule, PLUS have a poor district of which they cruise, how on earth can we tell if the keeper is a top dog.
Of the ones I've seen in action, Catherine Grubb is the best. In BR metro area, I do like Stacy Luquette STA, both BRHS keepers, Valerie Split-Log Woodlawn (by the way, good luck at district meeting on that count!) Lana Ashford Tara, and with distinct bias will give props to EA's Kayla Frederic who the last two years has had the unenviable task of sliding into Holly Moran's shoes.
As for comparing who is the best?? really quite tricky, if not impossible. How good is Fountainbleaus, Vandebilts, Newmans, SSA's, West Monroes, GKs? I don't know.

Sophomore Sarah Damen at Terrebonne has got to be considered in the top 10-15 goalies in the state. She was selected to the All Freshman team last year and has only gotten better. Her opportunities to show her talents have been down this year since Terrebonne's offense and defenses have improved so much. Terrebonne has outscored their opponents 138-20 this year so Sarah has had some slow games. She came to life in the district show down Friday night by making an outstanding block during the shoot out that clinched Terrebonne the district title. Damen is tall and quick with solid fundamentals as a goalie. The biggest thing for Terrebonne is that she is only a sophomore.

The best goalie in Div I district 4 plays for St. Amant. I think her name is Stacey. In the second half of the season she held the #2 ranked team in the state to 1 goal for 100 minutes. (80 reg& 2OTs) Also helped secure a 2nd place, for St. Amant, in district by holding St. Joe to only 1 goal in their second meeting. But when the game was on the line, she made the difference so the offense could do thier job. I have seen her make some outstanding saves by tipping the ball over the bar and blocking some in the top right and left corners. Granted she has a very good defense in front of her. So when she got a save, the chances where, it was a great shot to start with and the game was close. You have read in this forum, from others, that its not about stats. But did the GK play make a difference, to her team, in the outcome of a game, district, or season? In this case, absolutely!

St Amant Keeper get another chance to show her stuff this Wednesday night against another ranked team when Lafayette come to visit. How many of those spectacular saves are routine for other Keepers. She has a tendency so sometimes make ordinary look more difficult then they are. I will be rooting for her and her team-mates, this week.

Lafayette should provide a sterner test than Ruston this week. As for who I'll be rooting for, the whole team. Need to have all the District 4 teams make it as far as possible in the playoffs. Actually I coached a couple of the youngsters on St Amant several years ago.

PumasFC when it comes to Keepers you need to take those "Woodlawn" colored glasses off. "How many of those spectacular saves are routine for other Keepers." None, would be routine! You have clearly mistaken "more difficult then they are" with her quickness and reach between the post. By the way, my word was "outstanding", but if you want to utilize 'spectacular' to discribe her ablity its OK with St. Amant!

Don't think I mentioned Woodlawn keeper or any other Keeper. Some of what I have mentioned is comments of other players and coaches. I do use the player's club play to rank GK's. I have tried to base my comments on what has been done during this high school season. If some things have bled over from outside of this season I apologize. Check with players on other teams in and out of the district that have played against the top Keepers in the state and ask them who is the best Keeper. As I said earlier I hope she does well tonight against Lafayette. It will be a sterner test then her last couple of games.

Well it is hard to really address who is the best keeper in the state since there are so many teams and it is spread out. However, being from the Bayou Region, plus seeing some of the teams in the first two rounds I do have a few ideas of who the top 5 keepers in the state (in no particular order and in the southern half of the state) should be in my opinion.
Sarah Damen Terrebonne: She's had great defense to back her up all season but has done an excellent job when she has faced shots
Rebecca Blouin Vandebilt: Seen her play since she was a Freshman. Phenominal athlete, aggressive, team leader. She has made plenty of stops and is on a team that should make it to the DII finals
Celeste LeBouef South Terrebonne: Like Blouin, She has been the main keeper since her freshman year. In fact, the first time she and Blouin faced each other it took until the final seconds of the match to decide the winner. Unfortunately for Celeste her Junior season she had no solid defensive support and had to face many shots she normally wouldn't have faced or should have faced
Christian Marks Opelousas: Tall, aggressive, athlletic and like Damen a Sophomore She did a great job against Vandy in the second round. If not for Katherine Thompson's 5 goals it would have ended 3-2 in favor of Vandy.
Katie Chauvin H.L. Bourgeois: Great job but often had to faced attackers alone when her team would collapse.

granted the previous post is based on my observations and so I can't speak for the whole state. That is what makes things problematic.

Players and Coaches??? You are starting to believing your own posting. (All 327 of them) If you want to know the truth about a goalie you need read the scouting reports. The St. Amant goalie, Stacey Luquette, is the best goalie in district 4 - 5A.

Thank you observer I believe that what I said earlier but since ezplayer (6 post a majority on this subject only) sees only through black and gold he could not see that earlier. As celtichailhail said with a solid defense in front of you, your saves to goals goes down. Would ezplayer still claim this same keeper the best in the state if she played elsewhere? Say maybe Central or Walker or Woodlawn where on average night she would see something like 40 shots. Shutout LHS tonight including PKs and then tell everyone she is the best. There appear to be a lot of good canidates out there to nominate as 'Best Goalkeeper' and most of them are underclassmen, with tremendous defenses ahead of them. Were you to look at the boys side of this argument it is almost solely based on how the due with their club teams. On This side it is not.

celtichailhail I agree Rebecca Blouin of Vandebilt Catholic is an exceptional keeper, and any player would be lucky to get one past her. She puts up a brick wall and rarely anything gets past her.
Sarah Damen of Terrebone should also not be looked over. She has great talent and is very aggressive.

Stacey played an outstanding game and props to her for that. Not tested as much as I expected. She made to really critical saves one in regulation and one in overtime. AND life was a lot easier with Stepanie Wilkins playing one of if not the best performances I have seen at defender all year in front of her. Diving to the side allowed to stop one PK (waist high) but failed to get her to the low shots. with work on technique she would have stopped the game winner. Was standing with a GK coach who did agree that she dives in the direction of the ball rather than to it (there is a diference). Stacey is not only the best keeper in the state but I'm sure from your humble opinions expressed here that she must be being courted by the likes of UNC, Notre Dame, etc.
