As one who has trained with Stacey and Val before, i believe that they are two of the best young women goalkeepers in the state of Louisiana. I give props to both ladies, and wish them goodluck next year

Is there a little hint of being upset in your words? Looking back at this topic you have 16 posting alone! And you are going to get upset anytime some pick a different keeper than yours from district 4! And ?YES? I do bleed Black and Gold! But what everyone saw last night, at the PIT, has nothing to do with the colors I bleed. The performance that Stacey Luquette turned in last night against LHS was not only All District but All Metro and All State. The only thing you want to do is take focus off of an outstanding performance. I noticed that you conveniently left out the facts of the game which are, LHS played 70+ minutes on St. Amant?s end of the field and LHS out shot STA 38 to 14. Stacey logged 19 saves in RT plus 7 in four OTs and blocked a PK in the shootout. Stacey held LHS to 1 goal for 110 minutes of playing time. In spite of the numbers, St Amant still had an opportunity to win the game and almost did. If you like it or not, the other 349 players, coaches, scouts, collage coaches, refs, reporters and fans saw an ALL STATE performance from Stacey Luquette last night at the PIT. In addition, to last night she has been in several high-pressure games this year including the last games against Baton Rouge High and St. Joe. By the way, each only scored 1 goal in regulation time at each of there last meetings! Fact, she held 3 higher ranked teams to only 1 goal each during regulation play in this season. I wonder how many other teams and keepers cleared that hurdle this yearin 5A. When the pressure was on, Stacey stepped up her game and gave her offense the opportunity to win games. Her performance last night capped off an outstanding season! Great Job ?STACEY?.

I beleive I said Stacey had an excellent game last night. She made two critical saves during the game, and stopped a waist high shot to her right. All things I gave her credit for. Most of the game was played between the penalty areas. It may have been on the St Amant side of the field but Lafayette penetrated the penalty area rarely. They had to take quite a few shots from outside the penalty area. If you think someone had an All District performance last night take looki at what Stephanie Wilkins did to disrupt the attack of Lafayette. That was an ALL State performance. As to my post on this subject I have credited several other Keepers, Suggested ways to measure a goalkeepers shot stopping skills. No one wants to take me up on that. 1 Goal allowed against 10 saves would come out the same as 10 goals allowed on 100 saves. As lookingforward said on another thread about leading scorers, everyone counts shots differently. The same would probably be true for How saves are counted for Keepers. I tracked shots and saves last night as I do at every gamre I attend, so that when i speak about a keeper I have seen, I base it on numbers rather than someone leaping out to snatch a ball out of the air. My numbers were quite a bit less than yours. More like a dozen saves for Stacey and only a small handful for LHS GK. Lafayette and St Amant missed way too many free kick opportunities last night from close in. LHS seemed to hit the wall multiple times, and STA couldn't convert their chances by sailing shots over the crossbar. I was once told by a regional ODP Goalkeeper Coach that if a Goal Keeper can't take there own goalkick, they are immediately struck from consideration for the next level (guess he meant Regional Pool).

In question about Parkview's goalie, the girl in goal was not their goalie. She was one of their defenders. Their goalie was hurt. And about the game, once their goalie went down there was no way to win so he pulled alot of the starters out. Parkviews goalie is amazing. When she acually has to work. She has been blessed with an amazing center mid, and a strong defense

Ok..from reading prior posts i am assuming that PumaFC's daughter is the GK for Woodlawn? Saw her play once this year and she saved everything that she should have and a few she shouldn't have. It didn't look like she had much of a supporting cast although the girls in front of her played with alot of heart.... I only noticed l 1 or 2 players on the bench.
Haven't seen much of 4-5A but I've got to think that she is first or second team all-district.

Congratulations to Amy and Stacey. Always helps to play on winning teams. good Luck during your club seasons. No one has still come forward to defend their selections for best keeper except by antidotal information. Woodlawn scored on goal for the season against anyone outside of Walker and Central. If she had allowed a mere one goal per game, the team would have finished with the exact same record (I'm sure the players voted to the first team under those circumstances would still been voted to the first team). Thus making it impossible for Valerie to be considered for any reconition from the District Coaches.

Someone just sent me some statistics. Which of these three keepers is more deserving of accolades:
.................................Player A .........Player B........Player C
Record.....................4-9-1*...............17-2-1.............5-7-0
Shutouts.....................4......................14...................3
Goals allowed.............34....................16..................16
Saves........................211....................64.................127
PKallowed/saved........0/0...................2/1................5/4
Goals/Shot%................092.................087...............111
Post on this subject PUmasFc 17/ 347...ezplayer 5/8 By the way I was told that Player C was considered to be a First Team All District Goal Keeper last year. * All 9 losses were by Shutout.

Very hard thing to do....picking All-District players.
People get left out all the time for silly reasons like.....well the All-District Team just can't include everyone.
Not sure if that makes sense, but the decisions that are made are done by a group of coaches who always have what is best for the kids at heart. Sense I don't think we are to the point that HS Girls Soccer Coaches are getting fired because they fail to win enough or have enough players get the accolades, I have to believe that they all want what is best and right.
In a district that posted 3 ranked teams and where I think most people would agree that at least 2 of those teams were Quarterfinal teams or better if not all 3, it had to be a hard decision for the coaches to trim down to 2 goalies in a district that had more than its share of good ones.
I am glad to know that though Valerie was not chosen as a keeper for the district, she was easily chosen for the 1st Team recognition as she was certainly a leader both on her team and in her district.
Good luck to all the girls in the district and all the goalies across the state.
It is a thankless job you do!
