Tioga 2 - Ouachita High 2 Tioga started the game in great form and had 18 shots in the first half. Tomonica McQueen, Center Defender for Tioga scored from outside the box on a corner kick that popped out. The other Tioga goal was from Right Wing Morgan Burlew who shot from outside the box on a run down the line. Sophomore keeper Brittany Aswad kept a clean sheet for her half of the game.
Tioga's Center Mid slowed down in the second half and let Ouachita's striker through for a goal and McQueen went from everybody's sweetheart to bad guy when a sloppy slide tackle in the box awarded Ouachita the chance to tie the game with a PK. Both goals were scored against the substitute keeper.
Next up for the Lady Indians is Bolton on 11/21, Tuesday night.

Terrebonne 1 - Mandeville 3 Another good game played by 2 good teams. Mandeville was without a doubt the better team in the first half tonight. Both defenses played well and controlled the game. Mandeville passed well and moved the ball better in the first half. Mandy had one great opportunity to score but mis-fired over the goal. Terrebonne had one good opportunity in the first few minutes but waited too long to shoot and missed into the side netting. The second half started with Terrebonne moving the ball much better and missing on a shot inside the six and then having a let down on defense and giving up and easy shot right in front of the goal. Both teams picked up their level of play with Mandeville scorring again on another Terrebonne mistake. I give Terrebonne credit for not dropping their heads and really finding another level of play. For the last 20 minutes of the second half they played like everyone has been expecting them to play. They moved the ball well and scored with numbers finally up on a nice cross to a wide open forward at the six. The momentum shifted to the Tigers for the next 15 minutes with several runs until Mandeville was fouled about 15 yards outside the 18. The Mandeville player did a great job of putting the ball up in the air at the goal. The Terrebonne goalie called her defense off and the ball bounced around the 8 and right over her head for the score to take a 3-1 lead. It was a great win for a very strong Mandeville team and a hard loss for Terrebonne. Mandeville is a very good passing team with speed and good hard physical play. They were the better team tonight and a good measuring stick for Terrebonne. Terrebonne has got to play 90 minutes of soccer the way they played at the beginning of the game and the beginning of the second half. Time will tell if they have what it takes to make a big run this year.

This past Thursday night -- SJA 1, Covington 1, despite SJA outshooting their opponent 84-1. Covington got its goal in the 50th minute when the ball came out of the box and their CMF lifted a pretty high ball that grazed the goalie's hands. Megan Aultman got the equalizer in the 61st minute on a similiar ball. Jessica Fenner had a shot on goal as time expired, but missed to the right.
SJA took way too may shots without looking for crosses. There were a lot of long runs without looking for open teammates.
SJA will get 2 more from the BRSC U-15's in about 2 weeks. They'll need to gel quickly.
It doesn't get any easier -- @ Newman this Tuesday afternoon.

Country Day 2 Ben Franklin 1
Franklin played without seven starters, and Country Day pretty much dominated. I think they outshot Franklin 11-2 in the first half and 8-1 second half. Country Day's midfielders kept passing the ball over Franklin's defenders, and Country Day's forwards kept running under them for breakaways or near breakaways, and but for some missed shots and good stops, score would have been much worse.
In the first half, Country Day forward (Margot ?)got behind defense and Franklin goalie came off her line, then changed her mind. Goal came about midway through first half. 1-0 at half.
Franklin scored about a minute into second half. Forward Sallie Holmes' shot deflected off Country Day defender and mid-fielder Adrienne Brochardt scored.
Country Day scored again with about five minutes left. Margot (?) got behind defenders again and scored.
Good gameall things considered. Very fairly played. Only two fouls or so, no cards. Country Day played very well, and Franklin played hard shorthanded. Vandebilt game was probably a better indicator of Franklin this year, though their next game against Newman should show how much better.

I think Ben Franklin will cause some problems for teams this year. When they are at full force, they are pretty sharp... At least in the game I seen them play

Vandy 1 STM 1
Vandy scored early in the first half. The game stayed that way untill the ref let the game go about 4 minutes long and stm scored to tie it up in the 4th minute of extended time. Well played game by both teams.

The Alley - Week in Review Week 1 is in the books, and nothing to call a real big surprise yet (cause it's too early). Some things to note: In Div I, Fountainebleau has come out making a statement along with Mt. Carmel, Mandeville and Caddo Magnet. Some disappointments this week were Terrebonne and St. Amant. In Div II, ST. Scholastica and Sam Houston had a pretty good week, while EA and Vanderbilt weren't quite as impressive. In Div III, Sacred Heart and Country Day were impressive, while ED White and Redemptorist, not so much.
Who knows what week 2 will hold.

alleyball - pretty good review. Couple of questions: 1) Why was Terrebonne a disappointment? They played 2 teams ranked above them in the polls and held there own. The Mt. Carmel game could have gone either way in most observers eyes and the Mandeville game was 2-1 with just minutes left. Terrebonne put numbers up and went for the tie and paid for it on a free kick mistake. As a Tiger fan I am far from dissapointed. 2) Vandebilt had a tuff loss on a nasty field against Ben Franklin but made a good showing against St. Thomas More and gave up the tying goal in the 44th minute of the second half. Hardly dissapointing unless you were a Mandy fan. 3) Whats up with ED White? What did they do this week? I talked to one of the players tonight and they haven't played any games. Their first game is against Central Lafourche this Tuesday.

Don't read too much into the comments, it is early in the season. ED White "not so much" comment is just waiting for them to get started and play some games, not in regards to any performance. Again when it comes to Vandy, no real strong knock, just in regards to my expectations. Same goes for Terrebonne, who I feel is a strong quality team, and for me, I'm waiting for them to start knocking others off the block, that's all. St. Amant as well played some high quality opponents, it was just less than what my expectations were. The comments were relative to my expectations, which may have been too high for some and too low for others, or maybe just too much anticipation. Look at it this way, if I didn't think highly of the programs, I wouldn't have mentioned them at all.

To those of you who only post scores: Please see Bonehead, duris, ZidanezShrink (page 4) to see how you can tell use who were unable to attend a game how brief, or expansive a game report you could write to let us a little more then the final score. continue to report the scores but tell us something about them also.
