Sam Houston 4 - Tioga 2
Sam Houston controlled the game on their offensive side. Tioga's 2 goals came in the last 5 minutes . One on a PK with time expired.

With all of the before mentioned, is anyone else ready to say Mung is right, this district belongs to DeRidder? ASH is down with injuries and eveyone else seems inconsistant.

There are still 6 or 7 more games left in district. I don't think its safe to say that it belongs to anyone. I will make my prediction after the final game has ended. Good luck to all the rest of the way.

Yogi Berra said "it ain't over, till it's over". I for one think there will be a lot of ASH parents in the stands if our girls start playing for second place in district. Three Deridder wins were in OT or Double OT. ASH's two loses were one goal each in overtime, both times. I'm not going to be sitting in the stands hoping that our team can get by everyone BUT Deridder. Looks to me that district is really pretty balanced. Pharris is out for us for awhile but she has had so much pressure on her that she has not been as effective as she has in the past. Take Marisol Coronel out of the loop and Deridder hasn't scored much. ALL game winners have been form her I think. I think the rest of the season can be fun, especially if one of the "underdogs" has their game on one night.

Second sentence should have read that ASH parents would be upset if the team plays for second. Sorry, old arthritic fingers don't work well.

Holiday breaks are never good for anyone when players leave town for a week or two and teams don't practice as they should. Tioga girls were not mentally in the game until second half. There was not a lot of control in the game from either side because the field, although draining well, still had huge puddles that played havoc with players and the ball alike. The first goal came from a Bronco corner and was an own goal by Tioga that was headed by two defenders before it went over their keeper's head. The second goal caught the keeper offguard because her defender ended up on the ground and let the ball through when she had called the keeper off. The other two goals were pure power, beautiful shots, one a free kick from outside the 18 the other a breakaway. The Broncos are better than most teams we have seen at putting the ball back up and over the top. Tioga was unable to do the same. I keep stats and shots were pretty equal, the only difference being the Broncos found the back of the net more often. Both teams spent a lot of time on the ground and Sweeper Tomonica McQueen had to leave the field to be treated for her nail being ripped from her finger by a cleat during one of her trips down.
Every team has their playmaker: ASH has had Lindsey Pharris, DeRidder has Marisol, Whitney Holland plays a tremendous part in the Broncos' games and Morgan Burlew has almost as many assists as she does goals for Tioga. As mentioned before, the season is only half over and though we all cringe at the thought, ASH can remind us how quickly the game can change as with Lindsey's injury. I think it will be an interesting race to the finish line. It ain't over til the fat lady sings.

The district race is only half over so any talk of any one team having it won is a bit premature. Its true DeRidder controls its own destiny but we still have THS, ASH, SHHS to play, not to mention Pineville and Leesville have been improving all season and could beat us or anyone else if taken lightly. Its going to be a fun but nerveracking January but I have faith in the girls to finish strong.

Has anyone reported the forfeit by Peabody versus ASH girls today? It was sad for the five Peabody girls that showed up on time. Two others came up about ten minutes after the game had been called. Referee gave Peabody about five extra minutes before calling the game.

Great for Derek! Cenla has no idea how fortunate they are to have Derek's level of coaching experience here. LC offers girls (and guys) the opportunity to continue playing at a level that many believe is the most enjoyable in college, plus the games can be very exciting. I've had so many former high school players tell me how much they miss the game...well, LC gives you the opportunit to keep playing.

I agree with you blackandtan and how fortunate are we to have a coach like Derek here in cenla. This is well deserved and with Louisiana and cenla now producing great players the future is bright and I am looking forward to seeing how young coach Godwin does with his new Division I teams?
